How to ... AUTOPILOT. The only thread.

Do I need to load a flight plan to make it work, as I didn't do that, I just did a quick test flight and tried to engage the auto pilot after take off and hitting shift Z you get the audible of auto pilot disconnect, but hitting the auto pilot or any of the buttons related to heading , altitude, or any auto pilot function does not work at all. There is a definite problem here with block F.

I sent a request to resend the Block F file, maybe the file is corrupt or something.

Dude, have you tried using the [CMD] button on the MCP panel to turn the autopilot on? I never tried turning it on using the keyboard but have noticed hitting <z> will not turn it off, but using the disengage bar on the MCP will.

The big white button, the master auto pilot button, yes I have tried that, I just can't get the dam thing to work no matter what mode I try, when I hit control Z I can't change heading, but nothing else can be adjusted and the other functions are inop.

I'm not sure what you mean by the big white button, do you mean the disengage? There are 3 auto pilot engage buttons plus two flight director switches and an Auto throttle arm switch, which auto pilot button are you using, left, center or right? Are you using the flight director and A/T switches? Are you turning on and allowing enough time for the IRS to align? There has been some pretty big differences between Blk F and B, have you read through the manual or followed any pre flight checklists? How are you going about setting up the AP, can you describe this in some detail, aside from pressing the big white button? I'm afraid theres a little more to it then 1 button!

I'm not trying to be rude it just seems you may be missing some steps introduced by the new features.
If you do have a legitimate bug I sincerely apologize  Wink

Hi Dude,

Code
Select All
I just did a quick test flight and tried to engage the auto pilot after take off

Quick guess - autopilot didn´t work because irs wasn´t aligned before. autopilot needs irs alignment to work.

Try again with your irs properly aligned and report in, please  Smiley

I'm having the exact same problem.  I'm an experienced sim pilot and used to FMC/CDU programming, IRS alignment is fine and all required data is being entered into the CDU but nothing is working??  When I engage LNAV or VNAV - no response at all.  If I engage heading select, it does not respond and the climb rate window remains blank all of the time when trying to select a manual climb rate.  Very frustrating - I've read the manuals more than I care to mention and at the moment stuck for ideas as to what to try next!!!

Hey, I just downloaded the 757 pro pack and love it. The only problem is that the autopilot doesn't work. I would push the heading hold switch and nothing would happen and when I pushed the autopilot engage switch, nothing happened. The lights on the buttons won't light up. Also the LNAV and the VNAV don't work either. I don't know if I'm missing a step in turning on the autopilot or somethings wrong. Thanks for the help. Smiley

Yes, make sure you properly set your IRS before leaving the apron.  Nothing will work right (like the real thing) without that set.
My autopilot works absolutely perfect.  I have done several full CATIII auto lands with all three CMD lights on, LAND 3 illuminated on the AUTOLAND STATUS Annunciator and full FLARE engaged.
If I'm not having any problems with it, then there can't be anything wrong with that feature of the software.  It must be something else.

Hi,

first and not ment to be ironic - by studying the flight manual  Smiley

second, by looking into this forum, as this theme has been explained quite often before  Smiley

Apart from that and as a quick resolve, you bring power to your plane and then look up at the overhead panel. In the left (or first) vertical row, there on the upper left corner you can see a subpanel with three round irs setup switches, a few status lights , a numpad and a few other items.

Now, look at those irs setup switches - they have a few named positions. After "off" comes "align". Now bring all three of them into the "align" position and you will see them status lights start flashing. OK, wait for a while and they will go out. If so, set the status switch to "NAV".

Well done, buddy, you have just done your first IRS alignment  Smiley

Werner

Just to give another perspective, I'll tell you how I do it.  I am aligning them the same way I use my Boeing 737-900 ERX.

First I bring up the 2d IRS from with the quick selection tool that CptSim provides (Shift+3), then I bring up the 2d FMC/CDU using the same tool.
I place one next to the other and I go to the PPOS page of the CDU and copy past the LAST POS to the scratch pad.
Then I switch the knobs on the IRS past ALIGN to NAV which will bring up boxes on the CDU and I move the present position from the scratch pad to the boxes.  The IRS will align and when it is I will move the top knob on the IRS so the Long/Lat will show on the display of the IRS.

Maybe if you were more specific about the problem you're having and what the autopilot isn't doing for you (or is doing wrong), we could offer some suggestions.   Smiley

It simply isn't working.  I'm a very experienced sim pilot with over 12 years flying behind me and I'm very used to flying add-ons with more complex FMC operations.  I've worked through the manuals, in case I was missing something, but once programmed and up in the air, nothing happens when I engage the autopilot.  Neither LNAV or VNAV have any effect on the flightpath and if I try to set a manual climb rate the window is just blank and again, no response.  I've uninstalled and re-installed twice, with the same results.  I don't believe I've missed anything but if anyone has had a similar problem and knows how to solve it, it would be appreciated.

Hi,
As far I know you should set your FSX to start flight in 2D instead of 3D.
If you are using FS9 it will be better to start with the default flight and load after the 757.
The idea there it's to permit the 757's gauges to load properly, especially when they are complex.  Wink
Let us know if this work for you.
Hope this will help you... Cool
Cheers

When in flight (climbing, cruising, descending) my aircraft gets very "wabbly". It shakes only on its X axis...but consistantly. If i disengage the autopilot and re-engage it, the problem still persists. Thanks for your help.

Are you flying from 2D panel or VC? Pull up the 2D autopilot panel if you are flying VC and see if you can disconnect the AP that way.

I use the 2D view and the autopilot will not disengage.

I have FS9-Block F Upgrade.

And I'm using strictly the 2d panel.  I need the heading to comply with the ATC in the after takeoff phase and when gettin my ILS Vectors on approach, I can handfly but this hinders my ability to set my instruments.

Autopilot not Disengaging

Hello,

I have the 757 complete package and cannot disengage the autopilot. This has become extremely annoying and in order for me to disengage, I need to reselect the aircraft (which resets everything). I tried reinstalling the software, but the problem still persists.

Help is MUCH APPRECIATED,

Dylan

So let's say after touchdown you want to disengage it? Is the disengagebar not working?
You can also try to push "Z"

My Ap works just fine..at least the LNAV and VNAV. Just made a flight LEZL-LFLL and smooth as silk...but for the HDG switch. Once radar contact started vectoring for approach, I switched from LNAV to HDG, but nothing happened at all. HDG lock button lights up, but despite moving the heading knob, the plane did nothing, so full manual approach and no ILS landing...Am I doing something wrong??? I need my plane respond to the headings!

Thanks!

Autopilot not disengaging solved - at least for me.

I too had the exact same problem and a number of other issues relating to non functioning sounds, pitot lights not going out gear lever not working and autopilot problems.  I had these problems with the panel WITHOUT the VC per the ACE configurator.  I figured something wasn't loading right so I reset to run with the VC and all of my issues were solved.  I am now going to try to remove the VC again and see if anything is fixed without it now.  If not, I suspect that there is a problem with the non - VC mode not loading some gauges correctly.  Perhaps Captainsim can look into this problem for the next patch.  I hope this helps!  Good Luck!!

To get the heading to function you have to press the heading toggle button with a RIGHT mouse click.

Has anyone been succesful at solving the autopilot disengage problem in 2D Mode?  I haven't (it only works right in VC mode) and I filled out a support ticket to captain sim which was cancelled without a fix.  I can only assume that I have missed something simple or it will be fixed with the next SP.  Anyone have any thoughts - I really need only 2D for performance reasons.  Any help or insights would be most appreciated! Are just interested in finding out what is happening.

I was flying with the 757-200 V1400 and everything was fine.
Bought F-Block update.. and NOW the AP is not working at ALL??

Have Alligned IRS , have input'ed info in CDU.

When you flip the FD switch, on the screen I can se Alt hold flashing ONCE.
Everytime I try to push Alt hold .. it shows on the screen for 0.5 sec and gone. Angry This is the same with VS and Heading hold.
Nomatter what I do, its INOP. And when you try to use the Z-key nothing happens.. FSX does respond on
disconectiong the AP with voice response "AutoPilot disengaged".

The AP is completly N/A

HOW to correct this problem? Undecided

Kindly

Hi,

I'm having the same problem. Just purchased the 757-200 Pro Pack and the 757-300 model pack for FS9. My current rig is pretty old but works ok for the 2D panel anyway, so that's what I've been using and have encountered the same problem of not being able to disconnect the AP no matter what! FMC autopilot engaged and worked fine and flew the entire flight just fine, but when it came time to land, grrr!

I have ordered new computer system parts and I will be putting them together after they arrive. Hopefully I will be able to run the VC option good on the new rig when it's done. But for right now this is pretty frustrating Exclaim

Hello captain_alloush,

Interesting solution, thank you! BUT, 2.1 is here!!! I have just downloaded it and will be giving it a try of course! Let's hope the problem is cured in the new version. Anyway, again, thank you for the help!

Cheers,

Hello to all pilots,

I am wondering if everyone else has the same problem with the AP.  Once I am taking off manually and then trying to enable AP, it looks like it is not responding to any changes....e.g. it does not follow my flight plan once I switch to LNAV...please any suggestions!!! otherwise that baby would fly manual..... Sad

Some have had success by using the DLL from FSUIPC 4.3.

I still find when you do get control, the plane will roll to the left or right with extreme bank.  Be prepared for a hairly recovery Cheesy

I'm still at the bottom of the learning curve for this sim, but I'm concerned by the lack of input by the staff at CaptainSim on what is a significant problem for many of their customers. Do they intend to identify the problem and fix it, or is it that their configuration doesn't display this error? Some word from them about what they are doing about it would be reassuring.

Hello all,

Bought the 757 for fs9 and fsx a few day's ago and  i.m.o. they are both pure marvellous add-ons.
Then the AP:
In fs9 there is no problem with desengaging at all.
In fsx there is a desengaging problem indeed but with a trick I get it desengaged ok.

There are 2 way's to desengage:
- with the big "white desengage key" (when I do that I get no sound and no warning)
- wit the "z" key (when I do that I get a sound and a warning)

In both cases I do the following: I take care, that the plane is flying steady and straight (so when desengaging it will not start a curve or something).
After desengaging (the plane followes it's path) and there is no hand flying possible; I wait some seconds (sometimes 2 seconds, sometimes 10 seconds) and I make small movements with my yoke; after these seconds ................  I suddenly see that the yoke reacts ............... and the "hand flying" is again there.
Have tried a 100 times and it alway's functioned this way.

Ok, it is not how it's mentioned to work I think but for the time being you can manage this way  Smiley.

This coincides with my experience exactly. The problem is, if you are flying an ILS approach down to minimums, you can't then hand-fly the aircraft in because you will either auto-land or crash before the autopilot disengages. I have an injured arm and can only fly with one hand so I rely extensively on the auto pilot. I do like to hand fly the final 200 feet however and in the 757's current state, this is impossible.

I also find it curious that CS has chosen to remain silent on this issue. Just an acknowledgment that their working on it would go a long way toward easing my frustration.  I wish I had read this forum before committing to this purchase.  Sad

Yes, it makes no difference. IRS is aligned. disengage autopilot and F/D and deselect all AP options (heading, alt hold, etc). It takes a minimum of 10 seconds to disengage (but it does do so eventually).

Hello everyone... i have a question about the autopilot, and hope someone that really understand about the real plane procedure answers me Cheesy

About the autopilot... i never had any problem with it.. even before the update... Fact is that if you do load the plane in cold and dark mode, and if you perform all the maneuvers in it's correct order (IRS alignment e.t.c.. and if you use your mouse to handle the autopilot (unfortunately it seems we cannot key path this) everything will work 100%

My question is... it seems that when i do everything correctly as mentioned above, except filling the FMC with some Flight plan, the autopilot doesn´t works at all?    is this real? a real 757 will need it's FMC programmed in order to make the autopilot functional?

Thanks in advance!

HOW TO USE HEADING SELECTOR WITH AP

Hi,

I have got my 757 Pro copy and after a few short flights, I fly with the autopilot conected, no FMC programed, and try to fly by heading selecting  it with the heading knob. But it doesn´t work. It stays in the heading the plane was at the moment I selected the autopilot. It doesn`t respond to any change.

What am I doing wrong? Some advice?

Thanks in advance,

When you change the heading put the cursor on the heading knob and right click, keep one thing in mind but the most of the addon aircraft work differently then the default or any lite addon but its still easy Wink

To expand on what Patrick said, there's two heading modes in the 757 MCP.  SEL and HOLD.  SEL is what you're looking for, it selects the heading from the above number, and is enabled by right clicking the SEL marking on the top of the heading set knob.  HOLD on the other hand instructs AP to hold the present heading, regardless of what the indication is on the MCP.

This is handy for a few reasons.

1) If you know what your next turn will be, you can press HOLD to lock the plane to the present heading, and then dial in the next heading, and when time to turn, you can then click out the SEL mode from the knob to effect the turn.  My advice would be after you've achieved the requested heading, switch back to HOLD.

2) when on approach, before intercepting the localizer, use the HOLD mode to hold your present heading to receive positive indication that APP mode has taken roll authority by extinguishing the HOLD indicator.

Hope it helps! Wink

Hi Bob,

Thanks for yur comments. I didn´t know that there were 2 modes for selecting heading. Nevertheless, I gess something is going wrong because once I select the hold mode I can`t disconect from it unless I switch FD off or disconnect AP. I read the manual but didn´t find how to work with it.

Could you give me the sequence how to select one mode or the other in order to check if it is working properly?

Many Thanks ,

Roland,

That's correct.  Once a mode is set (either related to pitch or roll) it cannot be deselected unless another mode of the same type is selected.

I.E. if you set LNAV, you cannot unselect LNAV, but if you then press HOLD for heading, LNAV will unselect.  The same is true related to coming off HOLD or SEL.

So, let's say you want to fly heading 180.  Dial up 180, right click SEL.  when you get to 180 (or another heading before then that you wish to hold) click HOLD.  SEL will deselect, and HOLD will light.  Similarly, if you're holding a heading and want to change, dial up the new heading and right click SEL and HOLD light will extinguish.  If you have your FMC programmed, and you're on HOLD, pressing LNAV will resume FMC control over roll axis and extinguish the HOLD light.

This is a little foreign compared to "Flight Sim Autopilots" because they are "dumbed down" to be more simplified, whereas the CS757 implementation is accurate to the actual aircraft.

I do suggest reading the manual section about the Autopilot systems.  It is important also to understand the difference between the EADI indicators for "VNAV PTH" and "VNAV SPD".  The FMC will select one or the other during climb/descent depending on its needs.

Hope it helps!

Hi Bob,

Many thanks for your comments. It helped me to know that there was a click spot somewere to command the heading mode. This was my trouble. I found it and now it works perfect.

I understand now how it works and it has its logical like the real thing.

What I can tell you is that I am in love with this simulator. It is extraordinary in every aspect, from the VC definition / resolution (it's amazing) unitil the complexity of every element and its combination with the rest.

I could make a couple of flights and I have enjoyed it very much.

Regarding autopilot, I didn't have the problem others have about the disconnection. If you proceed desconecting first the autopilot with the disconnect button and then disconnect the FD, you can get the hole control of the plane.

Nice flights and thanks again !!

Roland

Have you aligned the things at the top left of the overhead panel, once the light has gone off, turn all three of them to NAV.

after u select the heading just right click with the mouse on top of the selector bug...this will not work with left click...there are some other things that will only work with right click, can't remember which ones but things like the IRS will turn clockwise with right click only and left with left click..so if left click does not work try the right click for that button or selector..also cycle view to 2d panel for a few seconds, that seems to free up some knobs...u can go back to 3d view after that and they should work. hope that helps

There is a specific autopilot thread on this forum.  Perhaps it needs to be stickied.  As slowdive says, "SEL" is when you pull out the knob (right click).  HOLD holds the present indicated heading.

This is all covered in the manual and in the autopilot thread.

Autopilot Deviations - Help

I need a little help with the autopilot function. I have no problem loading the FMC and IRS, and I am able to get the autopilot to function normally and fly an entire flight plan with the LNAV and VNAV functions. However, I can't seem to get the autopilot to do a simple task such as heading or altitude deviations.

For instance, I am cruising and receive a descent from ATC and a heading to initiate my approach. I input these into the autopilot and...nothing. So I turn the autopilot off, make the deviations myself and turn the autopilot back on and it just wants to go back to original heading and altitude. This has become extremely frustrating.

Does anyone know of any detailed manual for use of the autopilot, or any other answers to solve this issue? All I need to know is how to get the autopilot to follow my simple requests for deviations from the FMC.

P.S. Turning the LNAV and VNAV switches off only seem to disable the autopilot completely?

It works more realistic than fsx default AP. If you want to change heading put in your desired heading as you did then right click on the heading knob to execute. Once you have right clicked it will stay in heading mode until you select LNAV again or disengage the AP. If you want to change altitude put in you desired altitude then push the verical speed button (VS) and then select your desired VS. You have to manually do this as in fsx default aircraft it does it automatic which is not at all realistic. You can also select desired altitude put in desired indicated airspeed (IAS) and then push the flight level change button (FLC) most commonly used method in the real world

I have tried everything to get the AP function to work. I have set the IRS switches to align, waited until the lights extinguished and put them to NAV.

I have set all the panel exactly as Bob described in his youtube vids. Set the FMC as per the instructions in the stickied tutorial and still it wont work. I have also read all 5 manuals.

It wont auto take off. It wont follow the fmc when I hit LNAV and VNAV and I cant change heading when not using fmc (and I know about right clicking the knob). It wont even hold altitude, just climbs and climbs.

I am using it in FSX SP2 and 32bit vista and have also reinstalled twice.

Are you turning the AP on by pressing CMD A?

I have had the best success by hitting the middle CMD button.  Not sure why, but this works for me.  There should be 3 CMD buttong on the AP module.  The middle button is the one you want.  Good luck

Do you have a flight plan inserted in the CDU?

If so, enter an altitude on the cockpit, press CMD, selecting L-Nav will allow the autopilot to follow the plan. Switch on the flight director, V-Nav for auto speed, or alternativley enter your own speed. Make sure the auto throttle is on, a/t switch.

autoland engages automatically once you're on the localizer and have intercepted the glide slope in the APPR AP mode.

The AutoLand indicator will light up green with LAND2 or LAND3 depending on the approach category.

Must be Cat II/III ILS though, AutoLand cannot function without the glide slope signal.

Hi,
When I engage the speed on the 757 to say 250 on the autopilot panel, the speed will go to about 294 and stay there. then I accidentally moved the speed way up because I wasnt paying attention, then I moved it back to 250 and then the speed was 398. 220 was 354. I do not know what to do. Thanks

anything? I do not mess with the FMC, only thing I do is put in the IRS position. Today i had it set at 235 and it went right past that to 248-250 before it pulled back the throttle.

More information is needed.

First of all I suppose you are leveled at your cruise altitude and adjusted speed on speed knob.

Also you have autopilot activated.

Have you activated FD?
Have you activated AT?
Can you post an image of your panel when this happens, specially with PFD?

I have EXACTLY the same problem..  only difference is im using FSX Acceleration, Vista 64bit. and the 4.3 757 series

sent numerous support tickets to captain sim support,
ive either been told to search for numerous KB references and/ or been told to read the manuals, (which i have read, numerous times)

and it STILL wont work?

Possible ideas for it not working;
FSUIPC (im using the one that is IN the 4.3 version of the 757 supplied by CS)
Sim connect (works wine with all the other A/C i have)

I have the Captain Sim 727 and it works fine. The 757 is the only one I have this problem, so that tells me it is the 757. Everything else on the 757 works fine but my speed not holding like it should.

Not "messing with the FMC" is probably the source of your problem. Entering just your initial IRS position is not enough - you must enter additional information during your pre-flight setup, or the engine performance management system and autothrottle will not work properly.

At a minimum, you need to enter your departure and destination airports, and probably at least one waypoint linking them together - your departure airport takeoff runway, takeoff flap setting, your zero fuel weight, intended cruise altitude and (possibly) cost factor. Without that preliminary information the FMS cannot calculate engine EPR settings for takeoff, climb and cruise, which would most likely render your autothrottle inoperative - even if the A/T switch is "on".

This aircraft isn't bug-free, but I can tell you from personal experience that the speed management functions DO work very well... IF the preliminary FMS programming is done before takeoff. You really do need to read and follow the procedures in the manual if you want the 757 to work properly, which is why CS keeps telling you do so when you submit trouble tickets.

In a real 757, the autopilot's basic heading and altitude hold functions will still work if the FMS fails - but the autothrottle definitely will NOT.

Another user here as produced some very good video tutorials for setting up the aircraft and programming the FMS before flight. The links are posted elsewhere in the forum.

Another thing to check: go to the FSX "aircraft" menu, then select the "realism" sub-menu. be sure that FSX is set up to display "indicated airspeed" and NOT "true airspeed" - otherwise you would definitely see overspeed problems, which will get more and more serious as your altitude increases.

Glad it helped! Always best to use indicated airspeed for any FSX add-on - otherwise all kinds of overspeed problems will arise.

Autopilot stops following FLT DIRs
Print Post
After flying for a certain amount of time the autopilot will go wonky and stop following the flight directors.
This happens with FSUIPC 4.3 (not the one provided by CS which kills the 757 autopilot) with squawkbox on or off, with activesky on or off, with FSPax on or off, in all situations and circumstances. It seems to occur when the arrivals page is updated in the FMC. Whenever I program in a new STAR in the air, or even just change the arrival runway, the autopilot dies. Vertical modes work ok, but NO lateral mode works at all (HDG Hold, HDG select, LNAV, LOC, VOR). The airplane just decides to bank in a direction and will continue to bank in that direction.
The direction it's banking in appears to just be random. I'm a bit tired of having to fly the last 35 minutes of my flight by hand. I shot a CAT III ILS approach at EHAM the other day because my autopilot died on me.
Anybody else have this issue?

Yes, I have experienced this once.

For a coincidence I had to do a full FSX reinstall. Since then, I had made a dozen flyes and it not happened again.

Hi I bought the 757 and all the expansion packs a while ago. When ever I start FSX with it I switch the IRS knobs to ALIGN and wait for them to go out. Then when they do I switch them to NAV. Then I take off but when I'm ready to engage autopilot the buttons will not light up. I can press the disengage button but the engage buttons will simply not light up. I've tried to figure out what to do for weeks but just cannot!!! Please help me! Angry

Fellow Forum Members, I'm new to your site but have had many years of MSFS hours through all the previous iterations. I purchased 757 Captain from Captainsim/Just Flight and I can't figure out AutoPilot. Could someone please direct me to the proper sequence inwhich the various switches are turned on and what data must be input. For example, can I change my heading just by changing the values on the heading indicator switch and if so what other sequence of switches are required to allow this to happen. I know these are probibly stupid questions, forgive me but the manual just doesn't seem to provide the depth. Thank you

Xavier, On startup I switch the 3 IRS Knobs to Align and they light up, I then start turning on other switches from the OH view, the Align lights go out in approx. 30 sec. I then switch the 3 knobs to NAV and the 3 Align lights  start blinking the word Align. They never stop blinking throughout the flight. Is this normal? Thanks

@swivelhi,
to stop them from blinking, make sure you enter the right position in the pos init page on the CDU.
Just copy the last know position line to the enter position line. This does the job for me anyway.

Here I've a problem: when dessending in FLCH mode with throttles in idle  if I decrese speed in the mcp the airplane attitude changes taking up the nose and decreasing the -V/S value and that's correct. The problem is that the Auto pilot should maintain a descend attitude even if decreased in order to permit the speed to fit the input given to the mcp; the 757 of captain sim decrease the descend attitude while slowing down but then it starts to climb!
I guess this is an incorrect behave of the CS bird... I belive that the real 757 keep on descending in FLCH mode even if the pilot decide to decrease the speed in the mcp!

It should start decreasing negativ v/s, but never start climbing. Other Boeing MCP Addons (737 PIC;737 NG) seems to model this issure right.

Autopilot not working - What am I doing wrong?
Print Post
Hi all,

This is my very first post on a flight simulator forum although I am not new to FSX. I have been flying for nearly two years with at least 2 hours or flight per day using other famous aircrafts such as 767, 747 and MD11 to name a few. I usually read as much as I can the procedures manual before flying an aircraft for the first time or I use video tutorials when available. So I really try to find a solution to any issue. But this time I have no answer so I decided to post a query on this forum hoping that somebody would help me. My problem is simple : I have recently bought the CS 757 pro pack and 757-300 package but the AP does not work at all. I have followed all the before take off procedures (IRS alignment, engine start, FMS programming, etc) but after take off, the aircraft just keeps on flying on manual although I pressed the CMD, LNAV and VNAV buttons. Just as if no buttons were activated... This is very frustrating... What am I doing wrong. Many thanks for your help. Luis

I think you might have to be over 100ft in the air to engage the autopilot.
Have you seen this? http://www.captainsim.org/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1220997876

Hi RichardH,

Thank you for your answer. I always engage AP after gear is retracted generally well above 100ft.

I have followed step by step this tutorial but i still get the same problem. Actually everything is fine until I press the TO/GA button to accelerate on the runway for take-off. I gently push the thrust lever to 1.10, then i press the EPR button but the plane does not accelerate (just moves slowly forward). I have to manually push the thrust levers to max thrust in order to reach v1, vr and v2 speeds. Once airborne, I retract the gear and press LNAV, VNAV, CMD as mentionned in the tutorial but nothing happens. The plane stays on his initial path and I can notice that the AP is not on because I can easily steer the wheel or reduce/increase power with the trust levers... Any other idea ?  Huh

It sounds like you are leaving something out possibly, but if not, you may need to reinstall.

Are you arming both Flight Director switches and the A/T switch?

audiohavoc, I have reinstalled CS several times but the problem remains. Yes, I have armed both FD and A/T switched.
Everything looks fine visually (all buttons highlighted) but nothing works...

Try this if you haven't already.
When FS X starts up, load a cessna on any airport, any runway, turn off all the engines, ctrl+shift+E. Turn off everything except avionics. Save it as a default flight.
Next time load up your CS 757 fromt he default plane and make sure you are in a cold-dark cockpit. Switch to over head panel and make sure everything is off.. then follow the proper sequence of starting up and taking off..

Hi Bobby,

I have tried your suggestion but with no success. Still the same problem with EPR not working during takeoff and no AP once airborne. Don't know what to do... 40 euros lost... That's sad. The aircraft seemed to be pretty cool... Cry

Luis,

This almost sounds unbelievable but don't give up just yet!!

You can try a few other things..

If you are using joystick, remove them and try a flight just with mouse and keyboard only.

Try to to remove all the other add-ons. Install only captain sim and see if that helps

If you are still in the same boat, then probably you need to start fresh. Reinstall FSX, download the CS 757 files again from this site using your profile and then install only captain sim 757 without any add-ons. Try with default cessna (engines off etc.)

Sorry, but can't think of anything else. If someone else has any other suggestion...

Hi Bobby,

Guess what, I finally have my AP fully functional.
Well to tell the truth, I have installed CS 757 on a spare computer freshly formatted with Windows 7. Now everything is fine. What a pleasure to watch my aircraft smootly turning and crusing along its path Cheesy

Probably my problems were not related directly to CS 757 but to my FSX config (lots of sceneries and other aircrafts add-ons installed). As I did not manage to isolate the problem I cannot give any piece of advice to those who are experiencing the same AP issues. Formating the whole drive and reinstalling from scratch was obviously the last option in my possession...

Anyway, I wish to thank all of you who tried to help me on this. Much appreciated. Have a safe flight with the AP on or not ! Wink

Greetings from France

Hi Luis,
what u can do with the old comp is delete all saved flights from FSX and then try the CS 757...this problem is overlooked many times. I'm glad u have tit running in u'r second comp, but having it run in u'r primary is something quite different..see if that helps in any way..another thing u can do is turn off firewall and anti-virus while u download the addons and turn them back on after the download...hope it works out for u.

All I want to do is fly using the auto pilot like you do with the other planes in FSX, without spending 40 minutes being frustrated with the FMC, I just want to turn the thing on and fly. Is this not possible?

Hello there,
I'm also experiencing the same problem with autopilot - it doesnt work. The only thing that works for me are the vertical modes, but autothrottle doesnt respond. This means after leveling off at certain level, engines remain in full climb power (or derated according to FMS) resulting in overspeed. Lateral navigation (LNAV, HDG SEL, HDG HOLD) doesnt work at all.
IRS alligned, FD on, AT on, CMD A,B,C (tried all) and FMS fully programmed.
I also asked my friend - real 757 pilot for help and he also couldn't find out what's wrong. Maybe at this point someone will tell me that this is not a real simulation but just a game. Well that's correct but other addons which I own (another company, LVLD) are ok and don't have such stupid problem with autopilot.
One more thing. I tried to load CS757 after loading my default flight, and also after loading default flight you get in fresh copy of FSX installation.
And the last problem I get - autobreak is always in RTO position after loading CS757 and clicking on it (LMB and also RMB) doesn't move the switch.
This is my first post in this forum and I'm very sad it has to be like this. If anybody has got some suggestions I would be very pleased to try it. Thank you very much for responses.
Take care.

P.S. Why CS remains so silent??? They have to know about this issue, because so maaaaaaaaany people are experiencing it.

Hi, I would need an I help.
The 757 autopilota is activated without problems, but in reality he/she doesn't answer to the commands. The airplane doesn't respond to the commands of the autopilot... from thing it depends?
I premise that I have Windows 7 64 bits, 757 Last version and FSUIPC 4.53 installed.
Thanks

Unfortunately you will need to wait for another company to create a patch that is created to work with their method of packaging the product. When I last checked (out of curiosity), just before posting this, it was still only the 4.3 patch available. Sad

Lately when I fly the 757-200 I will get to the end of my flight, and on my final, when the autopilot will cease to function I always program the FMC with a reserve of 10, and a cost index around 10, yet I still get no response from the autopilot, am I programming it wrong? What's going on?

First thing. Is it turning itself OFF? Do you have to control it manually when that happens?

I can only think of a couple of things that might cause that to happen.
Have you set the Autopilot to catch the ILS and Glide Slope (pressed the LOC button followed by the APP button on the MCP)? I find I must press the APP button when below the G/S.
Have you set an ILS runway, STAR and TRANS in the FMC?
You can also check for an END OF ROUTE message on the FMC. The Autopilot switches to ALT HOLD, SPEED HOLD and HEADING HOLD if that message appears (I think). It's a long time since I have done a flight without using the FMC program with ILS, STAR & TRANS.

Assuming that you have done all that, I can't think of any other reason for the Autopilot to cease to function.

I need to clarify that sometimes it's not on final, like the flight I just took, which was far shorter than the one I had taken, I turned my head to look at something else for a second, came back, the autopilot was completely off. I just don't understand it, again like always  both reserves and cost were set at 10, it's getting frustrating.

I did have a thought, could it be that I am programming something else other than the reserve and cost index wrong? would that cause the autopilot to cut off?

Hi Manok,

Can describe how the Autopilot ceases to functioning? By that, I mean, do the MCP switches change to Heading Hold, Altitude Hold and Speed Hold? Or do the FD and the CMD switches turn off? That sort of thing. Sorry about asking, but I am trying to clarify what it actually does, so I can think of WHY it does it.

Everything just turned off, and the plane just started veering to the left. There have been times where it has been on, and done the same thing. I don't know if the fact that I had saved the flight, I've saved flights before and been able to finish them, I'm at my wits end trying to figure this thing out.

Hi Abdulla Albinali.

You really need to read the manual5 about programing the Flight Management Systems. Get the manuals here: http://www.captainsim.com/products/x757/manuals.html if you don't already have them.

OR

Go here: http://www.captainsim.org/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1220997876 and follow what it says to do to do the tutorial. This will show you enough to get you flying using the autopilot. I did the that tutorial flight, quite a few times, when I first got the 757. It taught me enough to fly anywhere I wanted to. From that point on, I asked question and read the manuals (ESPECIALLY manual5 about the FMS) alot. The rest was trial and error (lots of them).

There is a lot of advice and help in here, you just need to search for it.

It is hard when you first start, but it does get easier with practice (well it did for me). Don't worry though, I still make a few mistakes here and there.

I hope this helps.

I had the dreaded uncommanded left turn last night.  It happened right at the transition coming into SLVR near the end of the flight.  Heading Select worked fine and I was able to finish the flight, but LNAV was gone for the rest of it.  I seem to remember this happening around the same place before.  I wonder if this is an autopilot glitch or something with Navigraph's CS procedures?

This is my only problem with the airplane.  (Well, that and the external ghost engine sound when everything's turned off.)

I have never had this problem. Not with either the CS757 or CS767.

As to the ghost engine sound. Rename these 3 files (757idle.wav & x757cfm.wav & x757idle.wav) in the sound.PW and sound.RR folders. Did you forget about those ones Tim? Wink

Would you mind if I tried your route to see if mine winds up having the same problem as yours?

SBSP SCB UW50 EGITO UM415 TOTAI VIR SLVR

It's a 100 Busiest Airports route if you have those.  (And they are nice, all 2-3 hour flights.)

Thanks.  Let me know if you have a problem.  It's a nice route to fly anyway and the charts are available online.  You fly right over the airport, do a hold circuit then double back to line up with the runway (for RWY 34).  That's the published procedure, anyway.  The current Navigraph one has you coming more or less straight in.  Anyway, it was around TOTAI that the uncommanded left turn happened.

On the flight to SLVR were any SIDS or STARS used? What kind of approach did you use for  RWY34? I have not downloaded any charts yet so these questions may look stupid.

I had a STAR programmed and finished it using heading select after LNAV wouldn't work after the uncommanded turn.

I flew the route from SBSP to SLVR and had no problems. At TOTAI the plane changed headings from 305 to 297 like the flightplan called for. Let's hope it was a onetime thing. I had the 752 do weird stuff so fast I couldn't explain to anyone. And then it's fine for the next 100 flights. One time occurrences are hard to get a handle on and correct them.

Thanks, Mike.  My 757 still pleads not guilty, but the evidence is mounting against her as far as the uncommanded turn.  I guess every 25 or 50 flights or whatever she's going to wander off on her own.  I've had it happen with the 767, too.  <beats head against desk>

It is still the best 757 out there, although when she makes me angry like that I fly the other one just to make her jealous Smiley

Hi Tim.

I killed two birds with one stone just now.

1st. Your Comprehensive 757 Gouge is great.

2nd. On the flight from SBSP SCB UW50 EGITO UM415 TOTAI VIR SLVR all went fine until TOTAI. As soon as the FMC switched to the first waypoint of the ILS34 VIR TRANS (VIR/13) my plane started a slow turn to the left, away from the route (see image).

The thing to take notice of is the distance from waypoint VIR/13 that I am (about 60 nm) and that the FMS says it it 0 (zero) nm away! I had to use heading hold to continue on to that waypoint. No matter what I did it wouldn't hold the course from that point on! I eventually headed for D156M and caught the localizer for Final Approach.

I was flying with ASE on. Next flight I will not be using ASE to see if that could be the culprit.

That's EXACTLY what happened with me.  And I have a virgin install of FSX.  Think we're onto something?

Thanks for the kind words about the gouge.  The demand has been tremendous LOL (you and Mike).

I had a great flight tonight from Bogota to Mexico City.  You can catch some screenies of the McPHat Aeromexico 757 over at the AVSIM screenshot forum.

Hi again.

I did the same flight. Same aircraft (British Airways 757-200 RR), same route, same SID and STAR, got the same result. As soon as I hit TOTAI my plane started turning away from the route AND I the plane wanted to get down very fast. I was descending at 4200 fpm! Everything is the same as in the image I used in my previous post. I was NOT using ASE. I was flying in FSX Fair Weather with a 25 knot headwind! Using ASE in my original flight, I had an 81 knot headwind!

I looked at the Navigraph STAR in their database (I'm using the latest AIRAC) and can't really tell if it is good or not.

EDIT: I was looking at the SID.  There is no STAR.

Hi Tim.

It's good to know we are both using Navigraphs latest AIRAC. As it turns out, it HAS to be a problem with the navigation STAR (AIRAC?). I just finished a flight using anothers 747-400X and the EXACT same thing happened! Everything was the same except the aircraft used. It's great to learn that it isn't the Captain Sim 757 at fault.

Now I have to apologize to my toy airplane.

Sigh.

But you're right, it is good to know she's innocent.  I guess I'll notify Navigraph after work tonight.  That's a favorite route of mine, since it is in the "World's 100 Busiest Airports."

Good sleuthing.

When I did that flight I was using a cycle from April to May of this year. In fact the approach page for SLVR showed no STARS and A VOR16, ILS34, Rwy 16 and Rwy 34.

Hi Michael.

When I selected ILS34 I got a TRANS (not a STAR, so my mistake on stating that) called VIR, of which the first waypoint is VIR/13. This waypoint is, roughly, ~65nm on a heading of 303o from TOTAI. Once you reach TOTAI, the distance to VIR/13 switches to 0nm (still 303o heading) and the planes start turning left, like they are going to circle the TOTAI waypoint. The planes also start to do a steep decent because they need to be at around 5000' when they get there, and I'm usually at around 29000'-31000'.

I might revert to last months AIRACS to see if it happens there. I could also choose NOT to select the TRANS.

Hope this clears what is going on here.

I am trying to recall exactly what I did on the approach and landing. I believe VIR/13 was the transition for ILS34. Once I executed the route I went to the legs page and stepped thru the plan. I noticed right before VIR/13 there was a sharp kink so I deleted VIR/13 but the kink just moved to the next waypoint. I figured this was never going to work. So once I was flying and had established that there was no problem at TOTAI I set up a fix using the rwy heading as the legs, disengaged LNAV, intercepted the fix, and followed it until I intercepted the localizer.

Hi Michael.

I find the same thing, to a degree. If I leave the VIR/13 start to the VIR TRANS then I get the problem. If i remove it, I can generally get there ok.

Another thing I have noticed, on many occasions, is that if I remove any waypoints that are part of a STAR or TRANS, my FMS will show that my current fuel is the same as my expected remaining fuel at the destination airport AND that the time of arrival is only a few minutes from the current time, even if I have hundreds of miles to go.

Autopilot Problems
Print Post
Just purchased the 757-200 and am finding problems with the AP.  I'm used to flying the another company 767 and expect that the 757 is fairly similar.  I've studied the manual and looked at a few of the tutorials on the site and am pretty sure that the IRS and FMC are set up ok.
Problem is that that when I takeoff and switch Lnav and Vnav on, followed by the autopilot, I dont get any lateral nav and soon overspeed - the autothrottle doesn't seem to work.  Vnav will capture a set altitude and switch to hold mode ok.  If I switch Lnav off and use the heading select knob, the autopilot doesn't follow.

I'm running Winxp with FSX SP2 and FSUIPC4.6 (have also tried the 4.5 which comes with the 757).  All other aircraft fly ok on my system and I've reinstalled CS757 just in to be sure.

Got me well puzzled and not sure where to go from here, hopefully I'm just being dumb, next stop technical support I guess.  Any ideas appreciated.

Gerard

Try to delete all FSUIPC related files from your FSX\Modules folder, then reinstall the latest FSUIPC again. I had the same problem, the problems went away with the newest FSUIPC

That did it Smiley  Cleaned out my modules folder, reinstalled FSUIPC and autopilot seems to work ok.  Strange how installing on top of existing FSUIPC didn't work, but at least I've a way forward.

Observation though; when flying with autopilot and heading select, there is a tendency to overshoot a couple of times before settling on course.  Seems more sensitive than my another company 767, but maybe I just need to get used to it.  Quite pleased with CS 757 so far, definite bargain at sale price, so no regrets there.  Tks Captain Sim.

Another Problem: Autopilot not taking control.....

Well since I did a reinstall of FSX and the CS 757 its seems I have got more problems then I have fixed....

I got my sounds working by copying the dll file inte FSX folder, so far so good.

So here is my next issue: I have flown the 757 a lot of times before and I know how to use the autopilot. Anyways, with a route programmed, IRS set to NAV and aligned, the autopilot does not take control of the plane. The engage lights are all on, my PFD lists LNAV, VNAV, ALT HOLD, SPD or whatever as activated, but the plane remains in manual flying mode....

another file missing?

Installing the CS 757-200 Base Pack should install all the files in their correct locations, so you really shouldn't need to copy any files from anywhere to get it working. Do you have FSUIPC 4.x installed?

yes, an unregistered version of FSUIPC 4.50 was automatically installed with the base pack....do I have to register it (re-buy it) to make the 757 work???
Normally registering was only nessecary to get wind smoothing, which is done by active sky advanced now so I dont need that function anymore.

I had 4.30 previously and hadnt any problems with it....

I've never had any problems with the 757 since buying it last year (v 4.2) I can't remember which version of FSUIPC it installed, but it worked fine. I'm now using FSUIPC 4.60 (registered version) without any problems. FSUIPC doesn't need to be registered for the 757 to work with it.

You could try downloading the 757-200 Base Pack again (get a new link after check-in to your profile in the support pages). That fixed a strange problem with some gauges and buttons I had with the 757-300 Expansion Model (which seemed not be installing everything needed).

Got the same issue. Delete all relative fsuipc files inside modules folder in main fsx folder, then install the latest unregistered free version of fsuipc (4.60a).
Restart fsx when done.
It worked for me.

How far away from leg 1 is the aircraft?????  Try flying to the first leg manually and then intercept the course.....see if the A/P doesn't engage then....also.....is the FD switch on?  Not sure if this helps but I am trying......lol Wink

You have to be withing 5 degrees of the route before the IRS will lock into the autopilot. You either did not select a SID (Standard Instrument Departure route) or you went too far off the Flight Plan before engaging LNAV and VNAV OR you have a discontinuity in your Flight Plan (make sure you select the next LEG in the flight plan after the DISCOUNTINUITY boxes then paste that leg or type it into the DISCONTINUITY boxes). Fly VFR until you are within 5 degrees of the Flight Plan and then retry engaging CMD and then LNAV and VNAV. You should feel the autopilot taking control at that point.

Hello there, My first post here and I can't wait you answer this one.

Page 37 of the "B757 PART II – Aircraft Systems" manual I can read:

7. Speed Knob:

... "When VNAV is engaged, pushing the speed knob transfers control of the aircraft speed to the FMS from the speed knob. A subsequent push transfers the speed control from the speed knob to the FMS... Manual speed selection (speed intervene) does not disengage VNAV...

No matter how I click on this knob: right click, left click, 2D, 3D panel I can't "push" the knob in order to engage manual speed selection and left VNAV engaged. It react as if I wanted to twist the knob, as if there were no sensitive area.

So my questions are:

Is the manual wrong and there's no manual speed selection mode while VNAV is active ?

Am I clicking the wrong way ? What would be the good way to click the knob ?

Thanks for helping

Right click the heading select buttton, LNAV will disengage and the plane will fly the heading in the heading window.

Delete all FSUIPC related files from your FSX\Modules\ folder, download the latest FSUIPC and install that.

I do! Just about gave up on the B757 until I discovered v4.4 which I cleanly installed. I have registered copies of FSUIPC and Wide FS.

Did a test flight today and all I could do was to take off then when I engaged LNAV and VNAV the aircraft turned left and kept turning without any control. VNAV does not follow speed constraints and LNAV don't work.

I forgot to mention that I just reformated my PC which runs on Vista 64 PRO!

On the other hand, I have a friend which has the boxed version and everything works fine with v 4.4! Go FIGURE!  Undecided

I strongly suggest reading the previous posts in this thread. There's an answer to your problem there

Ok, I would like to do a flight in the 757, but I have no Idea how to work the Auto Pilot.  I know were some of the of main buttons, like the Auto Pilot Master switch, and the dials.  But I don't know how to make them work.  Any help would be good.

Thanks

Hi IflyGr8.

I strongly recommend that you do the 757 FMC Tutorial by aussie HERE. When I first got the 757 Captain I tried this tutorial many times to familiarize myself with program a flight in the FMC and seeing/learning how it functions with the autopilot. Once you have mastered that, you can from and to any place you choose (within the 757's range, of course).

Tim Capps has also done a comprehensive tutorial HERE that is a step by step flight which includes setting up from a cold-n-dark cockpit to shut down at the end of the flight. Note: read the entire Topic because we work through a glitch that was found in the FMC with regards to the transition altitudes on the Approach.

Hope this helps.

Yes. The AP is not working, I can still use the flight yoke, It's as if I haven't  hit the command button at all. Yes I did the IRS alignment and all that. I'm tuning the FSX Just bought this on the 3rd so it should have all the upgrades right? I'm 63 years old so don't treat me like a new kid on the block. Please I don't have the money to waste. I'm on a fixed income so this means a lot to me. I've read and watched the tutorials and manuals Please this is unflappable, Help me please.

Hi Bob.

If you bought FSX Gold, then yes you are up to date with the latest service pack provided you Acceleration is installed you have SP2 installed (Acceleration SP2 has a few extra goodies compared to the SP2 download). So this means that if you bought FSX Standard or Deluxe on their own (without the Acceleration expansion pack) then you might need to download SP1 and SP2 from here: http://www.microsoft.com/Products/Games/FSInsider/downloads/Pages/default.aspx and look for FSX SP1 and FSX SP2 (they are separate downloads. I'm not sure if the newer boxed FSX (except Gold) being sold has the SP1 and SP2 included in the installation package. Going by some things I have read in other forums, I don't think they are.

Hope this helps.

I hate helping people that said they did what i suggested in my first post, but have you read the last few comments on this topic, specifically the one that says "Delete all FSUIPC related files from your fsx\Modules\ folder, then reinstall FSUIPC"?

well, you should be sorry for yourself for not being able to use the sim earlier Tongue

You can use any version of FSUIPC that works with FSX as far as I know, it doesnt have to be registered if you dont own a license. Just download the latest from this site http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html, after you have deleted the broken version installed with the CS757 of course

hello

I have had the captain sim 757-200 base pack for over a year and a half now and it has certainly taught me to become a better pilot on many levels and is really a great plane, but now after downloading version/update 4.x (4.4) I am getting the autopilot problems that involve when i activate ANY part of the autopilot (except auto-throttle) the airplane will turn left then right, endlessly, sharp turns, back a forth. I have aligned the IRS with no faults or anything out of the ordinary, and have done the FMC setup well (many times, following online tutorials and everything to my knowledge.. I am not a beginner simmer) including the VNAV and everything, no route discontinuities or anything of the kind. Autopilot WILL turn on but just has this issue that makes the plane not flyable. I understand other people are having this problem and I just don't know how to fix it. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, and even left the ACE option on winglets alone (someone suggested that). Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Several weeks ago I had to reinstall FSX and all the addons. As I reinstalled each addon I would do a flight to make sure everything was working ok. I was flying the 752 for test purposes. After I reinstalled the FSUIPC registered version the 752 became unflyable in any mode. It turns out that installer that I had originally used had become corrupted. Before each flight I would get a message that FSX would suffer a fatal error if I tried to use FSUIPC. Finally I anwsered the message to fly anyway without FSUIPC. That's when it become uncontrollable. I check on Pete Dawson's website, figured out FSUIPC was corrupted, downloaded and installed the register version again. The 752 was fine after that. I think what happened is the FSUIPC that came with the 752 was overwriiten by the register version and when I answered fly anyway without FSUIPC the version that came with the 752 was gone. So the FSUIPC is an area you might want to investigate.

I had the exact same issue, no AP controls, couldn't set the MCP altimeter, speed, hdg , anything, couldn't even align the inertials.

So, I fixed it by reinstalling the aircraft, CS757, over the existing one, and when the install came up, I selected the "repair", and it did, and it works now...

It's a miracle!

Autopilot questions

I've had two main issues with the autopilot that I never had with the FS9 version.

The plane climbs slower than dirt while in LNAV and VNAV mode and doesn't seem to be able to follow the altitude assignments for various waypoints.  I tinkered with the economy setting, but even at 100, it still only climbs about 200-300 feet per second after 12,000 feet.  I figure there is a setting that I'm not getting right in the FMC, but I can't think of which one it would be.

The second problem involves the auto throttle speed setting.  Every time I reach cruise altitude and engage the speed hold (.80) function, the engines drop to about 60% thrust.  It's like it totally ignores the value I programmed into the AP.  I figure it might have something to do with the EPR setting, but I never mess around with the EPR.  I have to manually control the airspeed while in cruise, which is kind of a pain in the rear.

Any suggestions?

I can't figure out why the climb is so slow. But for setting the speed at altitude, try changing it using the FMC, VNAV page 2/3 (cruise), under ECON SPEED.

Yeah, everything was set up correctly in the VNAV page.

I flew again today and didn't even engage the auto throttle.  I just handled the throttle manually.  I engaged VNAV and LNAV and the plane climbed beautifully.

However, once I reached the cruise altitude, I disengaged the VNAV and engaged the SPD hold button with .80 programmed in the display.  Once again, the engines dropped to 50% and then slowly climbed to about 80%.  My mach setting kept dropping with no change in throttle.  Once the mach hit about .60 and I saw that the AP wasn't going to do anything, I disengaged the SPD, re-engaged the VNAV and handled the cruising speed myself.

Very frustrating.  I never had this issue with the FS9 version.  Any ideas on a button missed or setting that was programmed incorrectly?

When I fly, I use VNAV all the time. In VNAV mode, the engines are controlled by the FMC. So when at altitude, leave VNAV on and try changing the speed setting in the CDU. If you turn of VNAV,  you control ALTITUDE, VERTICAL SPEED and SPEED.

I'll go for a flight and see how it goes. I'll get back to you with how it went.

I have just done a flight in the 757-200 from YMML to YSSY.

I used LNAV for the climb, and it was a normal climb of between 2000 and 4000+ fpm.
Once I reached my cruise altitude of FL380, I switch to SPD and set it for M.80. It worked fine. First it increased the throttle to reach M.80, and then the thottles move back forth a little bit until it had adjusted to hold M.80.
Then I entered .800 in the FMC (VNAV CRZ) and the result was the same as for using SPD without VNAV.

So the result is that it is working normally for me. I'm not really sure why yours doesn't. Sad

Hello, I seem to be having a little trouble witht the autoland.  When I am on the ILS at minimums, I have LAND3 indicator on and FLARE and ROLLOUT on the attitude indicator screen.  However, the plane does not flare and just smashes down on the runway at 800 feet per second.  Any help?

Although the 757 doesn't flare, mine doesn't hit the ground at 800fpm either. It's more like 500fpm. I just pull back on the joystick/yoke a bit just before landing to make it even less than that and I get a much smoother landing.

I also have autopilot problems with both 757 and 767. The AP simply dont work. It worked before, and when I got the 707 I used it for a while. But now I come back to use the 757 nothing works. Is there a known conflict between the 707 and the AP in the 757 and 767??

I did exactly as I usually do. Inserted the flight-plan, align IRS, TO runway, weights and balance, fuel, trim and so on. Now all of a sudden its no reaction. I engage the CMD and LNAV VNAV. They lite up like they are on but no engaging at all. Some times after TO, a few mins into the flight it suddenly goes ballistic, like the 757 all of a sudden think it is an extra300, trying aerobatic maneuvering.

I tried to look for answer, here and in the manual. But nothing.

I also reinstalled both planes three times. Uninstalling, removing the extra folders and installing again.

I have the 707, 757 and 767 and the autopilot on the 757 and 767 are still working just like they should. I have done a few flights recently in all three planes, and they all work great. No A/P problems at all. So I would have to say there is no conflict.

Hi!

The thing is I think my plane is on booze  Cheesy In altitude hold mode it keeps swinging up and down (some 100ft). So maybe someone knows how to stop it from drinking?  Cheesy

Well depending on your weather engine its going to go a bit up and down, altho very slowly. Its perfectly normal. Say you fly around and the air pressure is at a certain level, then all of a sudden your weather engine updates and you get a totally different air pressure, the plane will have to climb / descent to reach the correct altitude again for that particular pressure

I doubt that's the reason. The plane is swinging constantly, and pretty fast -  the period of these oscillations is about 15sec (that means it makes a full swing up and down every 15 sec)  :/

After two weeks of testing after purchase of CS757 I find there is an issue with the VNAV function. I have previously used PMDG747, LD767 and another company 737PIC who all have the same type of FMC and they never have any kind of this issue.

Many times the LEG page show wrong speed/altitude. At cruise the ALT is correct but the speed is wrong. Example from yesterday, FMC show 255/FL340 for all waypoints after reaching cruise altitude. My speed was really .776/FL340. VNAV page show correct speed .776. No decent calculation, only RW30 at KMIA show 170/20. Last point 8nm from RW show 255/FL340!!!. Then I have to do some calculation myself and bring the plane down with FL CH and lower speed restrictions as I decent. Sometimes also last point (arrival RW) shows cruise speed/alt. LNAV works fine though.

I read all the time here "read the tutorial". I have done that and I have hundreds of hours using FMC in PMDG747/LD767/Wilco737PIC and NEVER had any kind of problem with VNAV. Even changing STAR and landing RW according to wind never cause any problem for the FMCs calculation of speed/alt during approach.

There are no issue with the AIRAC from navigraph as all of my add-on aircrafts use the same, now using 1101. Every time I get a new AIRAC all add-ons are upgraded. Only the CS757 give me wrong calculations. The FMCs of the other aircrafts work fine with 1101.

Hope this issue will be corrected with the ver4.5 upgrade.

To get the FMC to calculate a T/D you have to play around a bit with the last waypoints before the runway. Delete the waypoints, get rid of the discos, execute, and add the deleted waypoints back into the the flightplan, get rid of the discos, and execute and maybe you will have a T/D. I say maybe because you might have to do it all again using a different combination of waypoints. But you have ample time because all this can only be done once you are airborne. A gem of an FMC

Yes, really a gem of an FMC  Wink

Everything else works fine with this add-on aircraft. And most of the times i also prefer to do the decent and approach manually without VNAV and just use VNAV calculations as a reference. With CS757s FMC I even have make the reference myself. Anyway there is without doubt a bug hidden in this FMC.

With the 757 and 767 FMC both being the same and both having this problem, a couple of members came up with a very simple solution to get the TOD and the Transition altitudes to display correctly. The "how to" can be found HERE. If you follow those simple instructions exactly, the FMC does it's job. Once you learn this, it is no longer a big problem.

Hope this helps.

It is another jury rigged solution to a CS FMC 757/767 problem that should not exist. There are so many work arounds in the 757 it is absurd. I don't even know if I would install a 4.5 version if it is even released. I have spent fifteen months learning, adjusting and flidling with the 757 to get it to fly correctly. I don't know if the 4.5 version would be any better. Remember the 12/09 767 update that had the ACE file in the DEMO mode. What a joke!

Everytime at final established ILS after capture of localizer and glideslope the aircraft can't hold G/S and lose altitude. I get warnings with "don't sink". This is during the last 2 nm before touchdown. It always catch up with G/S at the last moment. But the deviation from G/S is quit remarkable and it can result in touchdown very close to start of runway and sometimes it compensates with thrust very late and make touchdown far beyond the the ordinary touchdown area.

When this happen I am reducing speed towards appropriate landing speed according to the FMC.

Another thing I have wondered about is that of all the add-ons I use, 737PIC, LD767, PMDG747 and Maddog the CS757 have very low landing speeds according to the FMC. I find that a little odd. I would suspect that MD82 and B737 was supposed to have the lowest landing speeds in general. Maybe the calculations by the FMC is wrong in some way. I may be wrong but thats my guess. Example today with flaps 30 FMC said landing speed 127. I had ZFW 171000 lbs and about 3 tons of fuel left when landing.

The 737 and the MD82 have very high landing speed in real life compared to the size of the plane. I dont know about the 757, but it wouldnt surprise me if it had lower vref at all

Download the latest version of FSUIPC and reinstall it. The version of FSUIPC that gets shipped with the CS 757 is bugged and will cause autopilot issues

well, you should be sorry for yourself for not being able to use the sim earlier Tongue

You can use any version of FSUIPC that works with FSX as far as I know, it doesnt have to be registered if you dont own a license. Just download the latest from this site http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html, after you have deleted the broken version installed with the CS757 of course

Where is the FSUIPC that's installed with the 757? I installed the v4.4 update on 2-12-11 and I don't see any FSUIPC.dll in the CS folder. The only file I see is Captain_Sim.757.menu.dll ver 4.3.0.0. I do have the FSUIPC ver 4.60a in the FSX Modules folder. Thanks.

FSUIPC is installed in the FSX\Modules folder. Captain Sim provide a copy of it with the 757 because it is needed for the 757 work. That is why it isn't in the CS folder.

It must be something else.

hi mate , sorry for popping-in, does that mean I would need to switch on all 3 autopilot CMD switches above the disengage switch?
sometimes i cant switch on the vnav is thsi due speed restrictions?

From the time you turn the Autopilot on, you only need to push one of them (I use the center one most of the time). Once the Autopilot is switched to APP and the 757 gets close enough, the other two CMD buttons will light up and LAND 3 will illuminate on the AUTOLAND STATUS Annunciator.
I have never been able turn all 3 CMD buttons ON. So I assume that the FMC/MCP does. Wink

That is not the way I remember it working in the real plane.
Once established on the approach, LOC & G/S captured, then push the other two autopilots to go into auto land mode.
If you leave just one autopilot engaged it would be just a normal ILS to disconnect at DH.

Thanks Mark, today i was using the middle CMD button, all fine, however, i did a 180 degree turn before capturing the LOC and ILS approach, before ILS approach i hit LOC but it did not automatically centre as it should also the appr button did not execute and auto land, nav radio was correctly set though in FMC, might it be that i overshoot the ILS already and it did not captchure therefore?
However, I was before the IAF and it should have captured it right?
with the FSX planes i had sometimes the issue that whilst still descending app would not work always, might have been the problem too?
anyways i made it with a -77ft/ touchdown and 4600lbs fuel left...thanks for your reply Mark

You might have missed the GS as well. If I (God forbid) forget to press APP when just below the GS, and I when I DO remember to press it, I'm sometimes too late and too high. In those cases, I have to GO-AROUND. Sad

It hardly ever happens now, but when I first started using the heavies, it was a regular occurrence. Embarrassed

There is no requirement to press LOC first and then APP.
One reason to select LOC  and not APP is because approach may have only cleared you to intercept the LOC and not the full ILS.
If you are cleared to intercept the localizer select LOC, then when cleared for the approach you should select APP. If you forget to push APP and notice yourself above GS you can, if your high enough, go vertical speed to say 1200 and recapture GS.
As Lou stated the selection of three autopilots is not modeled correctly, which I don't is that big of a deal. I would rather see VNAV
approches fixed. You should manually select each autopilot if you want to autoland.
The three autopilot setup is an FAA requirement to autoland at low vis. You could select two autopilots and it would autoland but you wouldn't be legal to go down to 300 RVR.
At 300 rvr you will not see the runway until close to nosewheel touchdown.

I have always use LOC before APP. There were times when in the rush to complete tasks I was not familiar with, back then, that I sometimes forgot to press APP. The best thing for me to do, was to do a Go-Around, or else I was most likely going to crash (thank goodness I was only flying in FSX)! I haven't had anything like that happen in a very long time. Grin

It's obvious that none of my other advanced heavies are correct then, when it comes to the requirement for me to press the remaining autopilot CMD buttons. They all automatically turn them on and then LAND 3 lights up. To be honest, until just now, I assumed that was how they worked in real life. Shocked

I remember some planes having set the airline option to catch a glide before the Loc (if received) while other ones where looking for the Loc first, not allowing the glide capture before.

I agree with you on the LOC and APP order and the three CMD buttons and LAND 3 coming on automatically and at the same time. If I forget to press APP and miss the G/S and end up above it I will attempt to capture it from above with a V/S of -2000 to -2500 to a altutude hold around 500 feet. Almost all of my landings are at sea level. I would hate to think of trying an altitude hold of 500 at KDEN - - SPLAT.

Hi Michael.

It always best for me to Go-Around than to try a catch up with a mistake that will, in all likelihood, end with me having a hitting that runway way too hard. I know this because it happened to me twice! Just remember that this was back when I first started flying the heavies. Grin

It is always better to go around and take your time to set up the approach.

What is wrong with the little black button on the yoke? Disconnect the autopilot, fly the plane to where you want it - smoothly, then re-connect the autopilot and continue the approach as long as you are out far enough to do it safely and not rush.

The computer needs a bit of time to track the LOC and G/S so it can compute the wind etc. Remember in an auto land, the 3 FCC's need to talk to each other and agree, so as to complete the full 3 autopilot landing - all that takes a bit of time. Also, the tracking is important so the computers figure the drift for the input to the rudder. A lot goes on when the other two autopilots are engaged.

A good landing begins with a stable approach.

Autopilot not working

Even though the buttons light up when I click them, none of the autopilot functions are working. I checked the electronics systems, and they are on, so the autopilot should be functioning. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Check INS
Reinstall FSUIPC

those are my only suggestions when it comes to a faulty autopilot

INS? Did you mean IRS, or does INS stand for something other than inertial navigation system?  Huh

By the way, this is only happening with the 757. Everything else works fine.

Yeah, the 757 worked on the old system. There was one occasion when the autopilot failed, but I'm pretty sure that was because I forgot to turn on the electric systems after engine start-up.

Am I missing something here in regards to the AP?

So a friend of mine bought the 757 (A little too small for me at times, personally I fly the another company 747) and he encountered issues.
Perhaps he should have been posting or submitting a ticket but I am not quite ready to wait a long time just to get a general answer back like: "Try to press the CMD on on the autopilot" etc.

So anyways I got a call where he asked me to come over and see if I could make any sense out of the 757, after all I did know the 747 so I thought: "How hard can it be?"
I dropped over and dived into the FMC which was fairly similar, but snappier (On the another company the moment you hit EXEC it blacks out for a second or two) and programmed a test flight the same way I would program the Queen.
Only thing I partly failed at where I googled was the CG part and entered 40 and set the trim to that value (Got me off the ground anyway)

However, the problems with the autopilot starts after take off.
Following my 747 procedure I hit the AP center button and LNAV and VNAV expecting the autopilot to track the programmed FMC course.
However, the autopilot doesn't do that, with Flight director armed and Autothrottle armed, I do lose control over the stick and thrust levers (I can shake the Queen out of it, but not the 757)  but after departure from ENGM the aircraft goes into a steady 5 degree bank to the right and stays like that for... FOREVER or until its tanks are dry, disregarding any input.

Only thing it partially listens to is altitude but that is sometimes correct and sometimes not.
The autopilot will also overspeed the jet by not reducing thrust, and I cannot override it without disabling autothrottle.
Furthermore, I also tried the heading selector knob, I set it to a heading that was different from the aircraft's present bank and right clicked the button (Same procedure as the Queen) but nothing happened...
The autopilot stayed in its 5 degree bank in a very very very wide holding pattern.

So my question is, am I missing something on the 757?
A switch to make it listen to the FMC rather than some other source or have we faced a strange bug?
For reference we have tried reinstalling it a couple of times, to no effect and the issue seems scaringly familiar to what the other guy here on this forum have experienced.

Hello, Sweeper.  Smiley

You may agree that threads called How to ... AUTOPILOT. The only thread or AP issues have a purpose. Especially when people tend to open new threads for problems which already came up and were solved in quite some numbers.
Even if 'your' problem doesn't get solved there, we at least establish a central point to look for reports and possible solutions.
As you will see then, there are already more than a few helpful 'to look for items' named in those threads.
Find them on page 1 of the 757 forum section.  Smiley

Don't get that wrong, new input is welcome of course, but one should check the FAQs first, so to speak.

Besides, I really think that the owner of a thing can post his problem by himself, so every new and fresh forum account with the introduction that one is writing/speaking for another person is an awkward communication method in my humble eyes.
This is not intended to sound rude, apologies if it does.

Well, this is not a support thing like the Autopilot one, and while I have gone through that thread to only find user errors that are not the ones I do (Did them when I started on the 747)

The reason I am posting is that it is starting to get on my nerves and I am unsure if I can blame the aircraft or my lack of knowledge at the moment.
In short, anything here that is different from a general setup on the another company contra CaptainSim?

Hi Sweeper.

I do not recall hearing of anyone having the problem of it going into a 5 degree bank and holding it forever. Generally the problem is that it goes into a bank until it loses lift and falls from the sky or crashes. Turning the AP off and flying it manually is a way of catching it before it crashes.
Try this: Remove FSUIPC from the FSX\Modules folder, then reinstall it. See if that helps.

Okay, now this is in the twilight zone.
I turn on the autopilot and autothrottle... It lights up but that is ALL it does.
It does not work at all, in other words I have full control of either control and the autopilot does nada.

I mean, minus the lights on the autopilot panel I still have full control like the autopilot was disengaged.
I tried the Z key to see if there was an internal AP failure, however that wasn't the case :S

So it does seem like either we have to transplant an AP system from a different aircraft or most likely contact Captain Sim's support...

It could be as simple as your friend Checking-in to His Profile > Select Product (757-200 Base Pack in this case) > Extended Download Service > Get New Links and download a new installer to see if that fixes this problem.

It could even be worth doing a complete uninstall and remove the registry entry for the 757 as per KB #685, then doing a reinstall. He can always try this one before moving on to a downloading a new installation file.

Sadly that was what we tried, a fresh download and a new FSUIPC install as well.
No effect of neither, we still had the christmas tree effect.
We also tried a few different versions of FSUIPC including the 4.60a that I use and stick with for my another company 747.

Only thing we didn't try was a reinstall of FSX, he has some other addons and it was a pain tweaking the FSX install (FPS issues and crashes) to make it run smoothly and naturally he doesn't want to repeat that.
Anyways, I told him his next step is to ask Captain Sim themselves for help on this, I have gone as far as I can with it in that regard.
A little sad really, could have been considering the 757 pending its  price and cargo capacity in Air Hauler if I started a new company (Got my 747 right now.)

ok the problem I'm having with the A/P is it will continue climbing past my set cruise altitude.  It switches to SPD above 10,000 ok.  When it's about 5,000 above my cruise altitdue, I try clicking FLCH with the correct altitude, so then it starts descent, but it seems like it will wander all over the various flight levels.  It's even gone nose down at very dangerous levels that I found myself at 3,000 feet within seconds while trying to turn to next waypoint.

I have uninstalled fsuipc 4.5 and reinstalled 4.5.

What should the A/P look like during climb then cruise?

Need help with an autopilot promlem - if I save and then re-load a flight mid-air then the autopilot stops working because the IRS looses alignment and can't be re-aligned mid-air, Is there any way round this? Thanks

I just gave away the leg to the 757 autopilot.  Roll Eyes

It did a perfect autoland to RW 16L in KSEA.
I took off from KAWO and gave the poor autopilot a good workout.
I selected 10,000 feet and 3,000 FPM in the VSI to see what it would do.
It did a good job as would the RW plane. It went through the altitude just a few feet and settled down.
I did my own vectoring using 30 degree bank turns and flew down to KSEA to do an ILS to RW 16L.
I am using Orbx NA Blue scenery and flying into one of the FSX's most dense airports with lots of clouds and still get mid 20's on the FPS.

Here is a screen capture of my approach to 16L. The image is 1900 X 1000
All 3 autopilots are on, auto-spoilers armed.

Hi Lou.

Is that supposed to mean something?  Embarrassed

I also noticed in the picture, that you don't have the Minimum set on the EFIS. Is that normal for you? Or. Because you were giving the autopilot "a good workout", you couldn't be bothered setting it?

Giving the "leg" away was a term in the airlines. You would let the copilot fly a leg, that would be giving it away.
In this case, I was testing the autopilot since some people are having trouble it seems.

All I wanted to do was give the autopilot a good workout and see if some of the problems others seem to be having was a CS model problem or their computer. My 757 flew just fine on the autopilot. I did not get too fancy I just let the autopilot do all the flying.

Since I was doing an auto-land I was only interested in seeing what the plane would do, and it did just fine. Setting a number in the ADI for a DH was not something I was interested in since on this auto-land there would be no DH only an alert height.

But you have a sharp eye, don't you!  Tongue

No. Not always.

Thanks for explaining the expression to me. Having never been a RW pilot, it sounded strange

As for the 757 AP. The only time I have a problem with it is when I increase the Simulation Rate above 2x Speed. I have done all sorts of flights without ever seeing it go haywire. Same goes for the 767.

Today I loaded up FSX and when I reached 2000ft with 200kts I activated the AP(LNAV and VNAV)and instantly the plane banked to the right sharply and dropped altitude, then up,then left, then right until it reached 6,300ft then I took control.Keep in mind that I downloaded all the proper updates. What to do?

Can you check if your FSUIPC installation is current and installed correctly?
The 4.4 757 needs that module, which is a free download from here. http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html

Hoping it helps.  Smiley

Hi guys,
I presume the beta testing will sort out this autopilot issue with LNAV/VNAV not following the route set out on the CDU, even went back to the old tutorial on here and even that did'nt work.  Undecided

ok i also have an issue related to autopilot
lets start from the begining.....
ok i bought 757 captain because it seemed to me that it was a cool add-on for fsx. so i got it and eventualy got it on my laptop and tried to go to ibiza ils with autopilot. only thing was.. when i engauged the autopilot the plane started to rock and i thought that it was a serious problem. so a couple of months later i bought 767 captain so that i could do longhaul routes.. and when i engauged autopilot the same thing happened. i then joined thomson virtual and had a leson on the autopilot (and even the instructor was puzzled by what was going on). i then read up and downloaded 757 (as i was flying this at the time) service pack 1.4. the autopilot rocking was fixed for both aircraft. but then.. autopilot would even work. the butttons for l-nav and v-nav are unresponsive and the HDG, ALT and SPD switches were lit but the autopilot was unresponsive so i then looked for any toutorials on youtube. i followed them and worked out that i needed to align the ILS. i tried that and still it wouldnt respond and i even programed the FMC to follow the route via going to presaved flightplans but still autopilot was unresponsive. Sad i realy need to get the issue fixed and the tutorials are not working for me. so i then tried selecting the autopilot HDG swich using right click which dosent work for my laptop as right clicking only brings up the options menu  (views, air traffic hide menu bar options)

ok so basicly nothing works and things just light up and dont do anything. having tried everything it looks like this chrismas will be sad (i may get rid of the add-ons). which is a shame because i realy want to do longhaul flights and i cant fly for 23 hours (manualy on fsx i screw up and the plane drifts and i dont get to my destination) please respond as soon as possibe with a soulution if not then it looks like bye bye to 757 and 767 captain this year Cry Cry Cry

Hi fsx1507:

CS 757 is now at v4.6 and CS 767 is now at v1.5...Not sure if you have the latest versions. For CS 757, if you're on v4.4, you may wish to save/retain a copy of v4.4 in case you find that you prefer the v4.4 version to the latest (and the last free) version v4.6. Hope Autopilot issues get resolved...You said you're running these on the laptop...Hmmm...just wondering if your laptop Specs are robust enough, but I do not have much experience w/ FSX on the laptop (except the Demo... Wink...)

Merry Christmas!

Me Too! I have read the manuals, downloaded the videos on you tube, read the forum, done everything that I am suppose to do. Aligned the ILS and nothing works ever! This needs to be looked at! Auto pilot simply does not work  for MANY of us might be repeat customers....if we had faith in the products!

I can't figure out the VNAV.  It does not descend as it should.  It does a strange calculation for descend and does not follow the FMC.  Why Why Why?  I will need to switch to ALT Hold and V/S on final approach otherwise the approach is ugly.  I'm still scratching my head... Undecided

I think that only sad news are available.  Undecided

First of all, the box vendor is the only one that could issue refunds. Not CS, they only sell downloads here and refunding them is generally not available, though may be an item of asking for it. As said, this does not affect any boxed products. Box goes to the vendor of that box, legally correct though sometimes not that easy to accept.

Sad news two, the same applies to the updates. The 757 is 4.6 now, the 767 is 1.5 but if you are running any box (except for the another company 767 one), you can't access them. That's not something I'm too happy about, but I may add that, again, the vendor of the boxes has to make sure that he can access updates through CS itself for his customers.

That's a business to business agreement and therefore two sides are involved. So if one refuses to set up a proper agreement, the customer can't get updates. another company for example did, so their customers can access proper CS updates. another company and Amazon may not have such an agreement. Means no update path available there.

On the actual problems. One source of wonky autopilots with the 4.4 and 1.4 releases has been an outdated or faulty FSUIPC installation. You will find quite some stuff when searching these forums, so please stick to the threads.
If you don't find anything (which of course means that you've tried), feel free to ask.

I can fully understand that a wonky behaving plane isn't able to produce fun. I had 4.4 running fine and 1.4 too, so there's a chance that your boxed software (being the same version, 4.4 757 and 1.4 767) will run fine too. As for the refund. Read the above, wrong place to ask and look for one in terms of boxes. Sorry.  Undecided

There are 19 pages of solutions and problems in this thread. Maybe you better start reading at page 1. Also have a look at this written tuturial http://www.captainsim.org/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1220997876/0#0.

When does the rocking occur? Im assuming at cruise/ level flight. Are you using any weather addons and/or have FSUIPC installed?

Also turbulence will cause rocking, I flew through a thunderstorm and above one and the turbulence was quite bad.

I would make sure that you check-mark the box beside Disable turbulence and thermal effects on aircraft found in ALT > Options > Settings > Display > Weather . This might be the cause of the problems with the autopilot.

Hello All,
Ok, so I can work everything else on the 757, I have no problems anywhere except...

I can't get the autoland to engage.

The APP light just follows the localiser and we fly over at whatever altitude we intercepted it at, it doesn't respond to the GS.

I've tried this at several airports in many different circs but can't solve it.

Any ideas please?

Paul

Use SHIFT+7 to bring up the CDU. Then press the RAD NAV button. Look at the entry level with LSK 4L (Line Select Key 4 Left), and you should see something like 110.10/335PARK. The 110.10/335 is the ILS frequency and RWY heading. This should activate when you are between 20 and 10 nm from the airport, but sometimes it doesn't. All you need to do is click on LSK 4L (copy the ILS/HDG into the scratchpad), then click it a second time to "paste" the ILS/HDG back into there. It is then appears like this: 110.10/335M, which means it is ready to capture the ILS/HDG.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick reply!

The ILS activates, i.e. the glideslope bar and HSI all come to life correctly, as does the DME.

I can then fly the approach manually, as I normally do when the GS kicks in.

I just can't get the autopilot to fly the approach.

Thanks,

Paul

Stall after A/P engagement (757-2)

Hi,

It is turning right and then left and starting to stall after every takeoff (when I push the CMD A).

Read some topic about this then I controlled the CG and flapsettings. And I guess settings are true. (3,6 trim - 5 Flap setting) (And Thrust Mode is To/GA)

I am really not finding out the problem...

Thanks for your help,

Burak

I have had the 757 captain for FSX for awhile now, and the aircraft works fine. All but the autopilot. I do everything correct and it still won't engage. I have read about this and looked through the KB and nothing has worked. Anyone have some ideas?

Last night I completed a flight from La Guardia, NY, to Cleveland, OH, (KLGA to KCLE), flying the US Air 757, and did an auto landing on RWY 24L, which was successful.  I had to go around on the first try because I had selected the wrong ILS frequency on the NAV radio, but the second attempt worked.  I set up the IRS, which took quite awhile to respond correctly.  Whether this is necessary I am not sure.  There is good documentation in the CS-757 manual, Part 2, on using the IRS to allow the normal operational mode of the NAV mode, which may be helpful.  There are also two tutorial flights for the 757.  The CS-757 is a great aircraft, and I hope you can get the autopilot issue resolved.
