I have always use LOC before APP. There were times when in the rush to complete tasks I was not familiar with, back then, that I sometimes forgot to press APP. The best thing for me to do, was to do a Go-Around, or else I was most likely going to crash (thank goodness I was only flying in FSX)! I haven't had anything like that happen in a very long time. ;D It's obvious that none of my other advanced heavies are correct then, when it comes to the requirement for me to press the remaining autopilot CMD buttons. I agree with you on the LOC and APP order and the three CMD buttons and LAND 3 coming on automatically and at the same time. If I forget to press APP and miss the G/S and end up above it I will attempt to capture it from above with a V/S of -2000 to -2500 to a altutude hold around 500 feet. Almost all of my landings are at sea level. I would hate to think of trying an altitude hold of 500 at KDEN - - SPLAT.
