That's EXACTLY what happened with me.  And I have a virgin install of FSX.  Think we're onto something?

Thanks for the kind words about the gouge.  The demand has been tremendous LOL (you and Mike).

I had a great flight tonight from Bogota to Mexico City.  You can catch some screenies of the McPHat Aeromexico 757 over at the AVSIM screenshot forum.

Hi again.

I did the same flight. Same aircraft (British Airways 757-200 RR), same route, same SID and STAR, got the same result. As soon as I hit TOTAI my plane started turning away from the route AND I the plane wanted to get down very fast. I was descending at 4200 fpm! Everything is the same as in the image I used in my previous post. I was NOT using ASE. I was flying in FSX Fair Weather with a 25 knot headwind! Using ASE in my original flight, I had an 81 knot headwind!

I looked at the Navigraph STAR in their database (I'm using the latest AIRAC) and can't really tell if it is good or not.

EDIT: I was looking at the SID.  There is no STAR.

Hi Tim.

It's good to know we are both using Navigraphs latest AIRAC. As it turns out, it HAS to be a problem with the navigation STAR (AIRAC?). I just finished a flight using anothers 747-400X and the EXACT same thing happened! Everything was the same except the aircraft used. It's great to learn that it isn't the Captain Sim 757 at fault.

Now I have to apologize to my toy airplane.

Sigh.

But you're right, it is good to know she's innocent.  I guess I'll notify Navigraph after work tonight.  That's a favorite route of mine, since it is in the "World's 100 Busiest Airports."

Good sleuthing.

When I did that flight I was using a cycle from April to May of this year. In fact the approach page for SLVR showed no STARS and A VOR16, ILS34, Rwy 16 and Rwy 34.

Hi Michael.

When I selected ILS34 I got a TRANS (not a STAR, so my mistake on stating that) called VIR, of which the first waypoint is VIR/13. This waypoint is, roughly, ~65nm on a heading of 303o from TOTAI. Once you reach TOTAI, the distance to VIR/13 switches to 0nm (still 303o heading) and the planes start turning left, like they are going to circle the TOTAI waypoint. The planes also start to do a steep decent because they need to be at around 5000' when they get there, and I'm usually at around 29000'-31000'.

I might revert to last months AIRACS to see if it happens there. I could also choose NOT to select the TRANS.

Hope this clears what is going on here.

I don't see a STAR in the db for SLVR either.  Some strange magnetic anomoly like in LOST perhaps.

Mark
I am trying to recall exactly what I did on the approach and landing. I believe VIR/13 was the transition for ILS34. Once I executed the route I went to the legs page and stepped thru the plan. I noticed right before VIR/13 there was a sharp kink so I deleted VIR/13 but the kink just moved to the next waypoint. I figured this was never going to work. So once I was flying and had established that there was no problem at TOTAI I set up a fix using the rwy heading as the legs, disengaged LNAV, intercepted the fix, and followed it until I intercepted the localizer.

Hi Michael.

I find the same thing, to a degree. If I leave the VIR/13 start to the VIR TRANS then I get the problem. If i remove it, I can generally get there ok.

Another thing I have noticed, on many occasions, is that if I remove any waypoints that are part of a STAR or TRANS, my FMS will show that my current fuel is the same as my expected remaining fuel at the destination airport AND that the time of arrival is only a few minutes from the current time, even if I have hundreds of miles to go.

Autopilot Problems
Print Post
Just purchased the 757-200 and am finding problems with the AP.  I'm used to flying the another company 767 and expect that the 757 is fairly similar.  I've studied the manual and looked at a few of the tutorials on the site and am pretty sure that the IRS and FMC are set up ok.
Problem is that that when I takeoff and switch Lnav and Vnav on, followed by the autopilot, I dont get any lateral nav and soon overspeed - the autothrottle doesn't seem to work.  Vnav will capture a set altitude and switch to hold mode ok.  If I switch Lnav off and use the heading select knob, the autopilot doesn't follow.

I'm running Winxp with FSX SP2 and FSUIPC4.6 (have also tried the 4.5 which comes with the 757).  All other aircraft fly ok on my system and I've reinstalled CS757 just in to be sure.

Got me well puzzled and not sure where to go from here, hopefully I'm just being dumb, next stop technical support I guess.  Any ideas appreciated.

Gerard

Try to delete all FSUIPC related files from your FSX\Modules folder, then reinstall the latest FSUIPC again. I had the same problem, the problems went away with the newest FSUIPC

That did it Smiley  Cleaned out my modules folder, reinstalled FSUIPC and autopilot seems to work ok.  Strange how installing on top of existing FSUIPC didn't work, but at least I've a way forward.

Observation though; when flying with autopilot and heading select, there is a tendency to overshoot a couple of times before settling on course.  Seems more sensitive than my another company 767, but maybe I just need to get used to it.  Quite pleased with CS 757 so far, definite bargain at sale price, so no regrets there.  Tks Captain Sim.

Another Problem: Autopilot not taking control.....

Well since I did a reinstall of FSX and the CS 757 its seems I have got more problems then I have fixed....

I got my sounds working by copying the dll file inte FSX folder, so far so good.

So here is my next issue: I have flown the 757 a lot of times before and I know how to use the autopilot. Anyways, with a route programmed, IRS set to NAV and aligned, the autopilot does not take control of the plane. The engage lights are all on, my PFD lists LNAV, VNAV, ALT HOLD, SPD or whatever as activated, but the plane remains in manual flying mode....

another file missing?

Installing the CS 757-200 Base Pack should install all the files in their correct locations, so you really shouldn't need to copy any files from anywhere to get it working. Do you have FSUIPC 4.x installed?

yes, an unregistered version of FSUIPC 4.50 was automatically installed with the base pack....do I have to register it (re-buy it) to make the 757 work???
Normally registering was only nessecary to get wind smoothing, which is done by active sky advanced now so I dont need that function anymore.

I had 4.30 previously and hadnt any problems with it....
