Mark, can explain me why I lost my sound when I fly with "Real Environment Extreme Weather Engine"  active, or while I fly on IVAO, so when my FSX is connected to the network? I tried to load the aircraft twice, in this way I have the sound ok; but soon I start REX weather engine, the sounds disappear. Than I tried first to start REX weather engine, than to load the aircraft twice but the sounds won't work.
Can somebody help me????

I can't explain why that happens. I have REX2 and Overdrive, but I don't use the weather engine. For real weather I use HiFi Active Sky Evolution and I haven't noticed the sounds disappearing in that. Not that that means it doesn't, it just means I haven't noticed it, but that's because I sometimes use FSX real weather.

Hi alligator

I just did a flight using REX2 Weather and I had to reload the aircraft (this is normal). The sounds work fine after the aircraft reload. Huh

Hello Catain Sim,
First of all i have read kb#2930.
I have the 727 2.4 ver installed in win7 64bits. I tried the alt+a+enter+enter and the slew thing in the .cfg and nothing. No sounds. I only didn´t try the msvcr71.dll because this is an old version of the c++ lybrary. I have installed the new ones for 64 bits systems (vcredist_x64.exe).
So here is the question: Do i need to have this old library (msvcr71.dll) to make 727 sounds work, or if i have the new one it´s ok?  As you say in the kb:
Quote:
If this is not the case you need to download latest Visual Studio C++ Redistributable Package from Microsoft Download Center and move msvcr71.dll into C:\Program Files\Windows\system32 folder.

Th newest package DON´T have this file: msvcr71.dll

I have also the c130,707,757 and they work without problems (IUncluding the sounds). I even tried the KSEA cold-and-dark without any results.

Any help on this is appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi Flavio.

Have you tried starting the 727 Cold-n-Dark (KSEA) directly from the Documents\Flight Simulator X files (or the equivalent in your language version)? I find that the sounds work correctly as soon as the flight starts in FSX when I do that.

If msvcr71.dll is not included in the latest Visual Studio C++ Redistributable Package, then maybe you do need to download the older version.

Hello,
The combination of the .DLL (The old version) and alt+a+enter+enter worked. But CS should do something about it. Make this dependent of an old component is something that not should be use.  Old components could do more harm than help in new systems. CS should think in a 2.5 version to correct this anoying issue.

Thanks Markoz for your help!

Dear Flavio!

I have the same sound problem with my airplane.
I also have the same OS as you do but the msvcr71.dll didn't help me. I've also tried all of what has been suggested in this thread before. Nothing helps! Sad

Can you please give me a link to where you downloaded your .dll and where did you put your file?

THank you!

Hello,
Downloaded it from here:
http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?msvcr71

Put it in FSX root folder and in Windows/system32 folder.
Than open a flight with the 727 and reload the aircraft with Alt+a+enter+enter. It´s wrong but it worked for me.

Dear Flavio!
Thank you very much for your response!

While waiting for the reply I was still trying to fix this notorious sound problem myself. And finally I managed to get my sounds!!! Smiley

I will now describe how I did this. Probably, I did something extra or superfluous which was not really necessary but anyhow...

I downloaded two .dll files from here: http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/fix-msvcp71-dll-and-msvcr71-dll-missin...

For Win 7 64-bit users the description in the link sugests to place both dlls into Windows/SysWOW64 directory. I placed them not only into SysWOW64 folder but also to /System32. And, of course, to FSX root folder either.

Then I loaded the "Cleared for takeoff (KSEA)" flight and my sounds appeared!!! Even without a need to press Alt+A+Enter+Enter combination.

I hope my experience also contributes to the solution.

Try to create a flight not using the CS pre-defined flights and look if the sound works at the first time, withou reloading the plane, please.
I think the 727 is directly msvcr71.dll dependent. And win7 64bits don´t have this file for default, not even installing the latest c++ library.

I can tell you, if I create my own flight from the FSX main menu the sounds do NOT work.

They appear only if I load the "default" CS "Cleared for takeoff (KSEA)" flight. Then I can change to whichever location, and the sounds are still on.

I also tried to make a touch-and-go over my native URWA airport.
Cabin sounds like sliding window or captain announcements work fine but somehow I cannot hear the beeping of the avionics, for example the NDB radio signal.

Is there a special switch on the panel that turns the Morse signals on/off or... the sound issue is not completely solved yet? Huh

In fact, even if I press Alt+A+Enter+Enter in my own created flight the sounds still do not appear. They exist only if I load from the CS "default" flight at KSEA.  Undecided An only then I can go wherever I want with the sounds on.

Where is the trick? Cheesy
