AHA!!! Another probably useful observation.

If I save my own created flight and then re-open it as I would open the KSEA flight, the sounds are on!

I tried that, and the only thing that it does for me, is to open the Pilot and Co-Pilot windows. It does not give me my sound back. I still have to reload the 727 to get the sound working. Undecided

Why can't CS correct this bug? It seems to have been out there for some time. I remember having CS 727 a few years back and never had a problem with sounds.

Yes, the 727 reloading is one big thing on my list too. Couldn't cure it so far, all the tricks I've read about or tried myself didn't work.
She uses a sound gauge like the other planes too, reading the sound.ini, but I can only get her fully initialized when she gets reloaded, which messes up some of my ATC addons.

So I can only fly her with (my) ATC and without e. g. Switch sounds or with those sounds and without that ATC.
Maybe they fix her up to the state of the 707 which works just fine on the very first loading process.
I'm currently on a workaround for that ATC solution since I really like the plane.
Edited:
Ok, I've found one (for the ATC, not the sound problem!), but this item could still be fixed in my eyes, no doubt.

The sound issue was not present in v2.3. So something changed in v2.4 to cause this. I just don't know what it is that changed.

Absolutely, otto. But no need to look like this  Angry, use this instead  Undecided.
The current reload thing is a workaround only, no doubt there. It e. g. still messes up some other things and I've found out that you can reload that thing in at least two ways.
One causes the radar to fail and some switches around to be in some very "cold&dark" state. Also, the "L" key and the one for the AP don't drive the VC switches then, but the functions itself are working.
To clarify: Without that reloading, everything works and behaves fine, except the click/warning sounds.

So, yes, a sound fix which enables the sounds like on the 707 or B-52 (meaning, on the very first loading) would be highly appreciated.  Smiley

For some reason when I reload, it opens the cockpit windows.  Now, this would be pretty bad if I were actually at FL300, but as I'm at my desk, I just close them.  Kind of a weird thing, but minor in the grand scheme of things.

Ah, windows open inflight. I said this once before, but it always makes me smile when thinking about Mr. Goldfinger "exiting" the plane in that James Bond movie.

Not so smiling fact: There was a (real) incident where the Captain of the aircraft was sucked out after his windscreen collapsed. They held him back from actually falling, so he "surfed" the skies while his Co-Pilot managed to land.
Talking about being at cruise FL there, so he had some interesting minutes and actually survived this happening.

Back to the sounds, I've tried your suggestion, Diсk Everhard, but it didn't give me back the sounds. So the reloading still stays the only workaround for me.
Seems like this sound gauge on the 727 needs to be initialized twice to start working.

Guys, I'm just laughing my a off again (I did this quite often in the last few days, makes me worry), because I can offer you a very unconventional and "rough" workaround for getting the sounds on the 727 on the very first loading.
Downsides? Well, you have to own the 707 too. That's no downside! This is another great plane!
I haven't tested stability and such things, but it works so far.

HOW ITS DONE

1) surf to the \Gauges directory of FSX, look for Captain_Sim.p727.sound.gau there and make a backup of it by renaming or something.
2) now surf to \SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B707-300\panel, look for Captain_Sim.x707.sound.gau and copy it to the \Gauges directory of FSX.
3) now rename that Captain_Sim.x707.sound.gau in the \Gauges directory to Captain_Sim.p727.sound.gau
4) done!

Load the 727, FSX might ask for permission on loading that one gauge. Allow it!

You will see some error messages on top of your screen for some seconds, stating that some sound IDs are already there. Don't care about them, they only last some seconds and your sounds are working now!  Cool

Give some feedback in this thread if problems arise. As said, I haven't tested much and maybe this isn't a stable solution at all.  Undecided
If I get some "working!" replies here in the thread, I'll setup a ticket for this workaround.

Edited:
Works fine on my system. Those few seconds of error messages (it's shown like ATC text, so no big deal) soon pass by and you can enjoy the 707 click sounds (and windows for example) all the way, on the first loading of the ac.
I've just had a complete flight and didn't experience any problems.

Thanks for the reply. I know you folks will work it out. Still glad I went back to CS.  Q. Are there any major issues with the C130? Figured that will be next on my list of things to have  Smiley

The only problems I have with the C-130 X-perience is :-

1. I can't change the cockpit light to Red or White. No matter which color I choose, they always show as Green. Sad
2. The sounds go weird every now and then. For example. If I start the engines using the ATM, once I get #3 & #4 started and turn the ATM OFF, it gets very quiet in the cockpit until engine #1 or #2 is started, then it returns to normal.

@CoolP. That does fix the sound problem, but I'm still trying to see if I can spot something different between v2.3 and v2.4 that could cause this.

Yes, I would like to know to why 2.3 worked and 2.4 does not.
Since I don't have a 2.3 installer anymore, I can't compare things. But even if I could, I'm no gauge mechanics, so my analysis would be not more than skin-deep.

Glad to hear that the 707 on 727 thing works. I had around four flights now and apart from the mentioned "ID already exists" messages for some seconds after loading, everything is there and working, even with the clearer 707 click sounds, so the fidelity even entered a new level.
Surely not to be called solution this whole thing, but I'm ok so far since I get a sounding 727 on the first load which doesn't mix up my offline ATC solution.

If the gauge turns out to be a GAU or DLL file, I won't be able to see inside it. Sad

A lot of the gauges in the CS 727 CAB files are XML, so I might find something.
I was wondering if it was something like what happens with the CIVA INS and the config line that triggers it.

You are right, Mark, most gauges are standard FSX xml and one can open and read them easily. But this one seems to be of another kind.
However, I'm ok with the operation now and since this "fix" (it's no such thing, but a workaround only) is public now, CS can look into that gauge for the 2.5 version of the 727.

Dropping a ticket today, so the need for it is in the system.Edited:
Done

Is anyone else missing the marker sounds on the 727? I wonder if this has something to do with this fix now.
They work fine on the 707, but my 727 stays silent on the Markers.
I've tried the toggling the VC switches and the FSX internal setting with Ctrl+3, only lights, no sounds.
