Captain Sim 737 Start Up and Flight Tutorial

Greetings all, I decided to make a flight tutorial that would be easy for beginners to understand! I would love some input form the community! I am not very experienced in flying airliners, so any input/suggestions/advice for this tutorial would be greatly appreciated.

I am combing through the 737-200 flight manual to find all necessary tasks to put into this tutorial. Please respond if I have missed a step or have done something out of order. I will number the steps, so if you find an error or have a suggestion please note the step number that I should revise or add another step.

I will continually edit/update this tutorial, so after people make suggestions, I will keep it up to date. I will put the final version into a nice layout. I will also add pictures to the final version.

Cold and Dark Startup
To get the 737-200 in a cold and dark setting, load the default Cessna 172. Pull the mixture control fully out, turn the magneto switch to the off position, switch off the Avionics Master switch, Turn off the Alternator Switch, then turn off the Battery Switch. You forgot the seat belt and smoking sign step and the fuel pumps should be on, otherwise the engines will stop working after the climb.

After which number in my list would you suggest to turn on the fuel pumps?

thanks for the feedback guys! I'd like to get this concise list as accurate as possible.

If there aren't any other recommendations soon I will post the link to a downloadable file as either a word document or excel spreadsheet in order for people to download and print off.

Fuel Pump Switches .... ON

According to the "Piedmont Airlines B-737 Operations Manual" they would do it between number 10 and 11.

Best regards
Alex

Cold and dark, I can't start the engines, after starting the APU with the bleed on.  Packs off, Fuel pumps on. The NG's start so why not this one?

Advise please?

EDIT: Okay don't bother, found the answer here. http://youtu.be/lFxx7a8Yr_M

What did you find was the problem? I noticed if you wait to long after turning the APU on the engine does not start....maybe because the batteries are too low.

Maybe it would be good to add the external power step for this tutorial.

Kalo, Let's just say that an NG start up is different from the '200'. Cool Roll Eyes

If someone can please help me it will be greatly appreciated,

After I start both engines for some reason I cannot shut off the APU. I try using the switch and it will not move to the off position only the start position. If I click the switch too much it will get stuck in the start position and will not move anywhere.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and nothing seems to work. Any help is welcome!

Thank you

Have you tried clicking on the APU switch using the right mouse button? That should turn the APU off.

Markoz,

I have tried right clicking the switch and nothing has happened. I have found a temporary fix by starting both engines then tripping the Battery switch. The APU will then shut down.

Thank you for your response
