I've an issue with my 727 cockpit sounds. I have noticed that in the Captain sim folders with all my other CS aircraft there is a file called cs.sound.dil . I also own the 707, 737, 757 and 767. If someone could give me some help in simple terms for a dummy it would be great. I'm not a computer geek so keep it simple.  Smiley

So what is the problem, you are not getting sound in the cockpit or is it something else?

Sorry I missed that. I read it but for some reason my mind did not process the info.

Here is what you need to do.

1. Go into Microsoft Flight on your hard drive and find the Captain Sim Folder...

Wait computer problems, be right back.

So sorry about that. I went to write the instructions and discovered that my computer did not recognize my SSD so I could not get the file or the line you need to adjust. Here now are the instructions to fix the problem.

1. Go to where Flight Sim is installed and find the find the folder Captain_Sim.
2. In that folder you will see another folder named 727.
3. There you will find a file named Sound.ini

4. Open that file and look for the line that says:
SoundOffWhenSimIsSlew=1
Change the "1" to the number "0" zero

5. Save the file
6. Start flight sim and when you are in the plane reload the plane. I think the default key is CTRL + R (the control button and the R button pressed at the same time). You can also go into the flight sim menu and you will see the reload option there.

That should get the sound going. Each time you load the plane you will need to reload the plane to get the sound back.

Afraid that does not make any difference. Still just default FSX sounds.

You might need the msvcr71.dll file to get the sounds working correctly (if you haven't already tried it). Wink
Searching through this current topic, you should find enough results on what to do and where to get it.

After reinstalling my 727-100 and adding Matt_Alt_Mods I get a bing bang from windows,I think? Like the error sound.

I c/p the Mscvr71.dll from a folder in a saved temp folder I have.
I just got a new used computer with windows pro. I checked jsut now:
c:\Windows\Sys\Windows32 For Msvcr71.dll and it isn't there.
I need advice with this? Do I copy the one I put into my main FSX folder or download a new one? And where to put it??
I just loaded from 727 flights( KSEA) and had to reload the plane by Crtl+Shift+R to get the sounds; Is this right? When it loaded it was cold and dark, I started engines,but no cockpit sounds??? Then I realized I didn't have battery power on on the FO panel, after I switched that on and everything lit up I got the sounds.
I did add the line:

[electrical]
electric_always_available=1

I've another question that comes to mind after flying the 737 and the 707. They both have awesome engine sounds. The 727 lacks. you don't get that same sound as with the 737. Has anyone updated sounds or is there an addon package obtainable somewhere? It would just add to making the experience even greater.

I have the TSS engine soundpacks for the 767 (GE, PW and RR) which were made for FS9 and they work fine with the CS767 in FSX. I think that the soundpack for the 727 will also work fine in FSX as well. Wink

Had a look and the TSS sounds, looks really interesting. In my experience sounds are generally workable from fs9 to fsx.

Just a note to say that bought the TSS JT8 soundset for the 727. It is for FS9 but works just fine in FSX. I highly reccommend it. Coupled with the CS Sounds it is as good as the 737, which, soundwise, I think is about the best model CS has produced thus far. Thanks for the suggestion guys.
