Flight Director Controls

Need help . . . I have FSX Acceleration and can not get FDC to come alive.  There is a issue from when I start the 727 to take-off that the FDC turns off or does not want to turn "Autopilot Mode Selector".  Prior to taxing, I can get the AMS to turn, but once lined up with the run-way, it turns off and I can not get it back on.  I have tried assigning "Aviation master switch", but no luck.  Cry

Today I tried different airport since the others where payware.  I set NAV 1 and got a reading on one VOR 36 miles out and I had Autopilot function along with GPS was working, but once I took-off and into 1 minute of flight, all nav turned-off including GPS.  I started all over again, started the 727-200 and everything was working again, but this time I just sat there with engines running and with in 3 minutes all nav turned off again.

  What is causing this?

I just downloaded the 727-200 to add to my 727-100 I've been using for months and has worked fine.  I made my first 727-200 flight but could not get the autopilot to engage.  The cursor "hand" indicated all controls could be used, but the aileron and elevator engage paddles would not work, neither as an autopilot inset nor in VC.  Only the altitude hold switch and the up-down-turn knob seemed to operate but I don't know if they actually functioned.  I made the mod Markoz suggested to the aircraft.cfg file turning power on in [electrical] but it didn't help.
Any other suggestions?  the -200s are unusable right now.
One other minor irritation:  in the views of the passenger cabin there is one overhead locker that is open but I can't close it.  In the -100 I could close all of them.

The paddles on the Autopilot in the VC don't work for me. In fact I don't think any part of the VC Autopilot works for me, so I will test that when I get a chance later today. As for the 2D panel (Shift+4), it works perfectly for me.

With the overhead locker in the passenger cabin I close them and place the seats in the "upright position" and all those things by opening the SimIcons Panel (Shift+1) and pressing the Icon that has "C" on it (It's the bottom left Icon). I can't remember if I have tried to do these things by clicking on them with the mouse, but I will also check these later today.

One more thing. Is the 727-100 v2.3 or an earlier version? If not. Check in to Your Profile, select the 727-100 then click on Extended Download Service and click on the Get New Links button and download the 727-100 v2.3. It might help. Another thing. DO NOT delete or get rid of any earlier versions you have. Back them up on a CD (that's what I do. I keep them all as backups. One never knows).

Hi Markoz,
Thanks for the fast reply!  I've been flying the 727-100 for months with no problem.  I just downloaded and installed the 727-200 expansion today, so if I'm reading the CS writeup correctly it should have 2.3 (which was dated 12/25/2009) incorporated into it.  I tried the 2-D autopilot control which I've always used with the -100 (I open it and then undock it and move it to a second monitor) but as reported the aileron and elevator paddels would not engage, nor could I move the disk at all from manual to the other settings. The altitude hold switch also would not operate. I forgot to mention in the earlier posting that I have FSX SP2 but not acceleration and the latest FSUIPC. My OS is Windows XP with the latest upgrades.
Thanks for your suggestions, and I hope you can continue to help.

Adding to my earlier post, Markoz mentioned update 2.3 for 727-100, but my understanding is the update if for 727-200:  "The 727 Captain (Base Pack, -200 and Freighter) version 2.3 for FSX is available and includes the following new features, fixes and enhancements:"  I also understood from this statement that if I downloaded the -200 expansion today (1-28-10) that 2.3 was already incorporated into it.
Am I misunderstanding?

These are the latest files I have for the Captain Sim 727 Series that I used to install them:

csp721_2300.exe - 727-100 Base Pack
csp722_2300.exe - 727-200 Expansion Model
csp723_2300.exe - 727 Freighter Expansion Model

It is best to install all of the 727 Models with SP2.3 or you are likely to run into incompatibility issues. If you bought them all from the Captain Sim Store or one of the partner stores that give you the files above (I bought some of my CS products through The FlightSim Store) which are the same files as CS delivers. You will qualify for downloading them through the Extended Download Service. Update them all to SP2.3 and see if some issues still remain.

Markoz,

I'm slapping my forehead, sorry for wasting your time.  I re-read the installation instructions for 2.3 and it finally got through my thick head that it said -100, -200 OR freight installed before 12-25-09 required 2.3.  I uninstalled both 727-100 and 200, downloaded and installed 2.3 and then reinstalled -200.  Now the -200 autopilot works fine and the other functions also.  The only thing it didn't fix on the -200s is that one blasted overhead bin!  I'll try the simicons and "C" that you recommended and that will  probably solve it.
Thanks again for your responses and sorry for my inability to read, understand and follow the instructions.
