FDE fix for start-up surging

If you're like me you want your -200 to start up like a -200.  The current version surges ridiculously at N2=20 when you apply fuel. I've taken the fixed FDE version 1.1 from bud7h7 and modified it for a much more realistic start-up.  Nothing else should be affected.

You can download it from here:

http://www.fscaptain.net/downloads/csx732.air

If you choose to replace your csx732.air with this one, I recommend making a copy first!  Use this at your own risk, of course.  I do Smiley

Enjoy!

That worked out nicely. Thanks!  Smiley

Say, did you alter the engine spool up behaviour in any way? That huge lag at high EPR settings is gone. Which is good! Or am I seeing things?  Undecided

Not that I know of - but I am not an FDE expert.  What I did was replace the 1505 record in the air file with a 1505 record from another (freeware) air file that starts up correctly.  It may have inadvertently fixed the other problem you mention -- which is good!

Thanks Dutch. Now for the 0.25 cent question, can you make one for the cargo version?

Does the cargo version use the same name?  (I don't have that version) - if it's named csx_732.air too, just use this one.

I don't know why they'd be different.

Well, Marvic, I don't have the cargo version so I can't modify the air file.  I might snag it in the Christmas sale though.  Stay tuned.

Thanks Dutch. Also tried to rename the file and it does not work for me.

If you rename the file you have to change the aircraft.cfg to match.  For example rename csx733.air to csx732.air, you'll need to change any line in the aircraft.cfg that says

sim=csx733

to

sim=csx732

to match.

Hi Dutch,
I did an export (to txt file) of section 1505 from your air file and CS 200, ADV & C. Can't see any difference in the values between all 4 files.
Am I doing something wrong or is it a different section I should look at?
cheers, Lex

Well I found a difference in section 1506 Turbine Corrected Thrust Factor vs. CN1 and Mach. Will see what it looks (feels) like in Combi and Freighter version.

I use AirED and did a copy/paste from one file to another of the 1505 record - copy to clipboard on one, paste on another.  I didn't change any other record.  There was a dramatic difference in the numbers before and after I did my change.  That's all I can remember about it.   AirEd shows a graph of the table data.  The arcs were completely different looking and I could see why the original spooled up so super fast.
