The 757 Freighter Expansion price

Captains,
We usually do not discuss our pricing, but it seems like the 757 Freighter Expansion price requires some explanations.
So, why is it $50?
1. The 757F is the most advanced and complete freighter ever built for any desktop flight sim. For details please visit the 757F page: https://captainsim.net/products/y757/y574/ or get a copy of the Manual: https://captainsim.net/products/y757/sops/
2. It's not "just the door". The 757F took 9 months of full time work with a team of highly qualified developers and artists. It's expensive.
3. The 757F delivers 11 (eleven!) freighter variants at $4.5 each.
4. The 757F includes 3 RR engine variants. Again, the RR is not "just another engine". It's a lot of work on the models, textures, engine performance, systems, EICAS, sounds, flight model.
5. The 757F has TrueGlass rain effects, which takes time and money.
6. The 757F has integrated GPU, again it's time and money.
7. The 757F has new materials, and guess what? It's time and money.
We believe $50 is a very decent price. We know a developer who charges $70 for a Freighter expansion which even has no cargo cabin in VC.

What's $50 anyway? A modest dinner for one in average chain restaurant? Or a bottle of something at the liquor store?
Or a piece of digital art which you will enjoy for years to come?

I personally don't have any problem with the pricing. I will be spending hundreds and even thousands of hours in the aircraft, and as someone who knows the struggles of coding/developing, the price is justified in my opinion.

I think CS have put a huge amount of work in the 757 line up, the systems behind the 757 are by far the best and most complex in any of their addons. People need to understand its not just a model.

I always look at the entertainment value:

How much does it cost to go and see a movie at the cinema, which last 90-120 minutes, and compare that to how much time I spend flying the addon aircraft.

So for the price of the Freighter, I've calculated that it's about 8 hours of use to reach its entertainment value, and I'll definitely excede that time pretty quickly. Smiley

My disappointment was the lack of liveries. I'm not happy that if I want to use my new product CS is the only livery to use. I don't know why you couldn't include a few basic popular liveries such as FedEx and UPS.

I only have one livery for the 757 PW Base Pack which I rarely use, and I have none for the RR, or Freighter. I just select a model, and fly it.

This also applies to quite a few addon aircraft from other developers. I just select a model (with the developer livery), and fly it. Some also come with other liveries, but in the end, I'm still only selecting one in the developer livery anyway.

I'm only interested in flying them, and seeing as I'm not flying in Vatsim, or the like, nor in a multiplayer mode, it doesn't matter to me.  Undecided

I'm curious if you've heard all the feedback asking for retro-fit modern cockpit in the -F.
These are the kinds of things that eliminate all the rumbling about $50 add-ons but also make it seem like you're listening to your customers rather than just doing whatever you feel like.

If the -F came out with a retro-fit option, the community would view Captain Sim in a totally different light.
In my opinion, your reputation is talented but lazy (or sloppy) and being tone deaf to the community.
Surprising us or committing to a retro-fit modern cockpit would put CS over the top and leave some of your bad reputation behind - because if you think everything is great, you're not listening.

I love your products... but I hate that you miss a lot of big and small details that could make your product and reputation best-in-class. If you want examples.. I'll send you a list.

We are listening. And we do not think everything is great.
And we'd love to surprise you with the retro-fit cockpit and many many other wonderful and bright ideas you (and we) have.
But there is just one tiny thing... TIME.
We are a small company with a number of very complex products. So we have to set priorities.
All I can say is the retro-fit cockpit is not on the top of the list, unfortunately.

And that's fair enough.

As end users, it's hard to size up companies like CaptainSim and QualityWings and others. We don't know if it's 3 guys doing this for fun, or if it's a major company with a room full of developers.

Maybe it shouldn't be this way, but understanding who we're dealing with changes the expectations. In my case it does. I'm more willing to give a big company a lot of grief over small things than a couple of guys doing the best they can with limited resources.

Thanks for your response... appreciate it.

Sorry CaptainSim, but 50$ is too much. Not gonna buy this.

But as you say it's 4,50$ per variant. I only need one variant, can we make a deal?

That was quite a jump from $4.50/model to $15/model for an economic version Shocked
