New 737 Owner - Tweaks/Mods

Print Post
Hi everyone.  I have been a long time user of the 727-100 and -200.

I just got the 737-200 base pack when they had th 9.99 sale, and am just now starting to play with it.  I have read many of the threads in this forum.

Here's what I have so far as far as mods/tweaks -  I have Paul's excellent V-One gauge, then I installed Bud's FDE mods, then went back and made the recommended change to the Opt EPR offset for the V-One gauge that Paul posted about.

My first flight went pretty well.  The plane seems to fly quite a bit like the 727.  A little less forgiving, I'd say.

Does this seem to be the best state of the art for this thing until CS updates?  (lol)

Anything I missed?  I assume none of these mods help with problems with the PDCS.  I haven't messed with that really.  The V-One gauge and mod makes it seem unnecessary.

I did see someone mentioned there are some EPR charts to use in conjunction with the mods--where might I find those?

Thanks!

I don't use fsxpauls Mod. I have only done a couple of changes in the aircraft.cfg which stop it performing like a rocket ship. For all I know, I might have reduced the power too much.

The PDCS often causes FSX to CTD, UNLESS the entries are done slowly and deliberately, but even that does not guarantee that you won't get a CTD. Sad

Captain Sim will do an update for the 737. We just don't know when. Lips Sealed Grin

Just thinking too, you may find that you have problems with the auto brakes applying them selves and not releasing until you come to a complete stop. Just make the following change to the
aircraft.cfg
..................................
[brakes]
parking_brake = 1         //Parking brake available
toe_brakes_scale = 0.885  //Brake scalar
auto_brakes = 0
hydraulic_system_scalar = 1  //On brakes dependant on the hydraulic system, ratio hyd system to max brake hyd pressure
..................................

Cheers again

Oh, one more thing.

I had problems with the autopilot and FSX sp2. What fixed it was deleting SP2 and installing Acceleration.

You may also find that aero bridges line up with the over wing exits instead of the front door. There are fixes on the forum but I haven't made them yet and just use the air stairs.

That's it for now... I think  Roll Eyes

I tried those Exit changes, but it didn't fix the problem. The airport jetways still connect to the fuselage at the mid point of the wings! So I only use the airstairs too.

Thanks for the replies!

Thankfully, I do have Acceleration, so my AP Pitch mode works properly.

ftwd, are you talking about an issue where the autobrakes activate without having set them to do so?  Or just that they won't cancel properly when they have been armed and engaged on landing?

Does your .cfg change in your post disable them?

I'm sure he means both, because both problems are remove by changing this:

[brakes]
parking_brake = 1         //Parking brake available
toe_brakes_scale = 0.885  //Brake scalar
auto_brakes = 5
hydraulic_system_scalar = 1  //On brakes dependant on the hydraulic system, ratio hyd system to max brake hyd pressure

to this:

[brakes]
parking_brake = 1         //Parking brake available
toe_brakes_scale = 0.885  //Brake scalar
auto_brakes = 0
hydraulic_system_scalar = 1  //On brakes dependant on the hydraulic system, ratio hyd system to max brake hyd pressure

in the aircraft.cfg.

Thanks Mark,

Yes David, I was having both problems, the config change disables the autobrakes. You just have to go back to the 707/727 and apply toebrakes yourself after landing. I don't know if someone can make a little "inop" sticker to go above the autobrake switch in the cockpit  Wink

Cheers,
Nathan.

That's good to know.  I hardly ever use autobrakes anyway.

I want a mod to fix the very disturbing problem in the cabin. Aside from the fact that the passengers always hide when I walk through, a look through the windows, especially at night, will clearly reveal the passengers to be composed entirely of triplets, if not quadruplets, dressed identically. I get tired of flying the Multiple Birth Convention charter everywhere. And for a vintage aircraft, I would like to see some mod clothes and large afros. Or maybe Captain Sim has plans for paid "Passenger Upgrades?" And I want to see my dog in the airplane.

(Actually, the passengers is a very cool effect that I've only seen in one other airplane. It really looks cool, especially at night. I really do think the next upgrade should have Tanya, and Mark and Lou. And that's it. Like five of them each.)

Five of me? Shocked Well I know that my mother would strongly suggest one Mark ONLY. Grin
