RUDDER / STEERING WHEEL
Jul 5th, 2013 at 5:23pm
Print Post
I cannot turn the steering wheel with my pedals..
I'm at the parking dock... with the parking break set.. after clearance procedure I start push back...
playing with the rudder for a few second I can see that is working...then  it starts moving or flashing... and I cannot control anymore the rudder...
I load another aicraft.. and it works perfectly...
any issues?

Make sure that the System В Pump Switches (on the Flight Engineer Lower Panel) are switched ON.

When they are OFF, I can't turn the 727.

I hoped this could be a solution to my not being able to turn my 727 during pushback,Mark.
But no cigar Huh

I see in your image that the Red lights only come on when the switches are off, just like mine, still no luck.

You are right, these switches have nothing to o with the pushback, so they won't solve your problem.
I fear that something you have installed (possibly in FSX) is interfering with your 727 and the pushback. Sad

Just wondering how you have hydraulic pressure in the B system with both switches off????  Undecided

BTW, I believe that Boeing designed the low pressure lights so that if the switch was off, the light would also be off.

Hi Mark and Lou, Logically as you both state, if switches off ; Light off, but that's not the case in the model? The light lights only when the switches are OFF????...Inmy copy.
mark I have tried this in three different computer with the same package I purchased from captainsim from the beggining in FS9 then tranffred it to FSx when that update came. ever since this problems has arisen

Believe I am not trying to annoy with this, it been sometime now...Now You seem to have fixed your pushback and turn whcihyou could do either according to an old post?

@Lou -Even if there is pressure in System B with those switches OFF, I still can't turn the 727.

For me is a case of Switches OFF, the 727 won't turn using the rudder (joystick twist grip), Switches ON and it does turn using the rudder.

Weird!!!!! Cheesy Grin

@Bernado - You are using v2.4 aren't you?

Lou,
I think he took screen shut during the  Pressure gauges indicator was going to "0". If he waited couple of second, pressure will show zero.

It's possible that I took the screenshot too soon after turning the switches off, but I can't remember.
I use the Snipping Tool to get only the area of the screen that I want, and as soon as I start it, the screen freezes at that point.

Ahmet,

You are correct that if the screen capture was taken fast it might have caught the pressure gauge as shown.

When you turn off the pumps the pressure goes to zero fast! I know, I've played with the system in the real plane. When the pumps are turned off, even if there is some pressure indication, there is really no work that can be done because as soon as you place a demand on the system the pressure drops to accumulator pressure. The brakes, however have a very large accumulator and you can get a few (one or two) applications of brake in an emergency.

My second point was that the system "B" low pressure lights should NOT be illuminated when the switches are OFF.

I know that the CS model is not 100% faithful to the real plane, but for the most part it is pretty good. Still one of my favorite planes!  Smiley

You are right. It should not  be illuminated. I love CS 727 and 707..
I keep coming back to them, specially 727

It's now obvious that I took the image before the pressure had dropped to zero (see attached image). Grin

Well, not quite right....

Here is what the panel should look like with both system B pumps off.
Both low pressure lights are out since there is no power to the light with the switch in the off position.
If the pressure on the system gauge reads zero, then the hydraulic accumulator has lost its charge.
Look at the schematic below. The green box shows the system B pressure gauge takes its reading from the air side of the accumulator.
The yellow box shows the power source to the low pressure light.

In order to get the F/E panel hydraulic panel to look correct, I had to do a little photoshop work.  Roll Eyes
