A new set of wheels.

Sadly. My situation has come to this point. That's life.

So today, the DVA delivered an electric wheelchair for me. I can no longer walk very much or very far.
I've known this was coming for the last six years, and now the time has come. It is not unusual for me to be just standuing around and suddenly my (left) leg just gives out and down I go, unless I can grab something to prevent the fall. I am still able walk from one room to another in the home, but if I go outdoors, I can't walk further than about 100 metres (on a good day) without either stopping to sit down and rest, or falling over. I prefer to sit and rest. Wink

Don't worry. I'm fine about it, I just thought I would let all my friends in the forum know about it. It doesn't change what I do in here, I'll still be the same ol' me. Wink

So here it is. A "brand spanker" (brand new)!

Because it has a "joystick controller" on the right side, I have decided to name it Airbus (FO). Cheesy Grin

In the UK there was a law put in that mobility scooters cannot go faster than 4mph. This was because someone was seriously injured by a speeding mobility scooter.
Be careful, they're deadly.

Grin Haha, nice pic, Lou. That's how I'll imagine Mark now.

Seriously, what can you do with the buttons, Mark? Is there some sort of massage possible? As a flight sim fan, I'd expect you to add some PFD now, maybe one of those Saitek panels. It also helps with the approaches I guess regardless of the speed.  Cheesy

See? The tank fans already run slightly tuned stuff.

@pete197 - I've had a scooter for about 3 or 4 years. It has a top speed of 7 kph (4.4 mph), but the wheelchair is faster than that. It does about 10 kph (6.2 mph). The biggest problem with deaths here in Oz, is that older people (older than me Tongue) driving mobility scooters get hit and killed by cars. It doesn't happen very often though. I have not heared of people being hit and killed by scooter/wheelchair drivers. Remember that the entire population of Australia is about 23 million.

@Lou. If only!!! Now. Where can I get me some goggles and a WWI pilots headwear? AND a scarf. Smiley

@CoolP. If only it could. Then I would be so very happy. Cheesy Grin

I was thinking of getting one of these:

to replace my old scooter!

The RainRider features list:
Features Include:

   Delta Steering Tiller / Adjustable
   Front and Rear Lights
   Indicators
   L.E.D. Battery Power Indicator
   Hazard Lights
   Double Pillow Comfort Seat
   Sliding Seat
   Front and Rear Suspension
   High and Low Speed
   Large Battery Capacity
   Windscreen washer and Wiper
   Removable Doors
   Fully Carpeted Interior
   Interior Sun Blind
   Rear Vision Mirror
Now with a lockable Storage Box

I gotta get me one. But I want headlights and tail lights and indicators for extra safety and night riding. They should also name it The Night(Rain)Rider. Cheesy

Yeah, but it's not because of the scooters vs. cars, it's because of this.  Shocked  Tongue

I think you should get the model with the pressurized cabin then. And Evan has a point with the gun controls.  Cheesy I mean, it already has a 'front metal bumper bar', so we already know where this will end.  Shocked

Uh Oh. You know I was out there, behind a gum tree, having a whiz (urinating) when they took that photo. So if I hadn't been there, there would only have been 1274 animals the picture that could kill you. Shocked

As for Evan and the extra joystick for the gun. It's of no use to me! I can't use two joysticks at the same time. Sad

You no worry, Mark. We're on it.

So you drive close to one of the Australian dangers and then switch to the gun controls.Smiley You get the idea here. http://www.craigboyce.com/w/2012/02/minigun-wheelchair/

Besides, you haven't told us yet what the buttons are for.  Wink

I try to imagine my granny (grandmother) using one of them (not that she ever used one) and I shudder. Imagine what would have happened if she were to remember something I did that really upset her! She'd shoot me! LITERALLY! Shocked

Luckily. I'm mostly a good person now. But not always. Embarrassed
