Everything in the Captain Sim line up/product list points at a 747...

its major, its wanted, its not really done "right" for FSX...others 400 is good but i know CS could do it better, especially after flying it and then seeing whats been happening with the CS737 and the CS777...and its a Boeing Aircraft Wink

every time I hit the horse I'm saying 747-100...747-200...747F Cheesy etc.

IMO CS could add the classic and modern 747 family to the line up and be done adding new aircraft for a while and in the meantime update all the older versions...757, 727, 767 to their new standards and have a product list unrivaled in the flight-sim market.

staunch advocate

Capt'n James, may I call you Jim?

You have no idea how hard it is to taxi one of these,
until you do it on a dark and rainy night!

Oh, maybe you do... did you not fly these beauties?

Lou, You are the first person ever to offer, or indeed to call me Jim, so firstly, congratulations, secondly you may!

I used to fly for European Air Charter on their 747-236Bs out of Bournemouth Airport (EGHH/BOH)

Now I teach on the simulators for the same company.  As they now do MCC courses etc. Thats all that is left after the company went in Dec 2008.

Jim,

I too was an instructor on the 747 as well as the 727 & 707, both simulator and on the line. We had a 747 simulator in New York at KJFK and also used a wonderful simulator in Dallas, TX near the airport at the facility of Braniff Airlines. I also flew the plane on the line for several years. TWA had 747-100, -200 and SP's. The SP was the last 747 I flew before moving on to other planes. The 747 was a wonderful plane to fly, but alas it was a maintenance hog and needed to be near full to make money. I retired in 2005 (mandatory age 60) after almost 40 years with both TWA and American Airlines.

I would like very much to see CS come out with a 747 fleet, but I would like them to finish the up-grades on the ones they already have on line. The 727 and 707 are really fun old school planes so I would hope they can fix the little bugs that exist before moving on to something else.

I can only imagine.
There was an incident in Melbourne, Australia a few years ago with a United 747 (400??) when he unfortunately cut a corner a little too fine.
I can't recall how many wheels he put onto the grass but it wasn't many. The plane was stuck there for days.
Quite embarrasing for the pilot but I don't think too many people really understand how hard it would be.
A friend of my late father used to fly 747's for Cathay back in the 70's and I recall him saying that you had to be out over the opposite side of the runway before lining up. (the flightdeck that is)

I've heard the A340-600 is even worse!

i saw vids on youtube, that 777 have some external cameras. Why not to put some cameras to 747's gears, it could save some nerves  Wink

I agree with Lou to do a bug update on the 727 and 707 Smiley

Yes I do agree with that. Especially the 727. Being it up to the same standard as the 707.

But...

CS need to think of seriously considering a 747-1/200

No. It's entirely up to Captain Sim to make that decision. For all we know they will go to make a helicopter next!!!  Wink
