CS 767 APU sounds HORRIBLY LOUD!!***

I need help. I own both CS 757 & 767 aircrafts, however the sound files are way opposite.  The 757 sounds are perfect!  Sound great and in accordance properly with where you sit In the VC.  However the 767 VC sounds are horribly wrong!  With the entire cabin locked up it still sounds as if you're standing on the outside of the aircraft directly underneath the APU!

The APU in the VC is horribly loud, to the extent that it's about to blow my ear drum out!!  I can't even run it now because it's way too loud.

I've tried everything!  I've tried Aircraft.cfg merges between the 75- & 76- and still nothing.  I've tried opening the Captain Sim folder in FSX and directly copying and pasting the entire Sound File from the 757 including the Sound.cfg files and placing them directly into the 767 file while deleting the old 767 sounds.  Then when I start up FSX, absolutely no change, still loud as all hell. Angry. Third, i tried moving the APU.wav files directly into iTunes and manually turn down the wav volume then placing that new .wav file in the 767/sound file and still no freakin change!  And finally I tried opening the Sound.cfg file directly in the FSX/Captain Sim/767/Sound archive, then I tried editing the APU volume from 0.2 to 0.1 and even went as low as 0.01... Then restarted FSX, and guess what... NO CHANGE!!!  Still loud as hell!!!  How The hell do I get these sound files to match directly to how the CS 757 sounds sound????

Somebody please help me!!!!! Cheesy

Go to FSX\Captain_Sim\767\sound folder. Backup the apu_idle, apu_start and apu_stop files (WAV).
Now go to FSX\Captain_Sim\sound folder and copy the apu_idle, apu_start and apu_stop files and paste them into the FSX\Captain_Sim\767\sound folder.

It seems to me if the 767 sound files are louder than they are for the 757. I'm pretty sure it is not the sound.ini settings, but the files themselves.
I normally use External Power and Bleed Air when I am on the ground. I rarely use the APU to power the 757 or 767.

Mark,

I will try that and let you know if it was a go or a no go!  Thank you!  As for my Ext Pwr, I cannot get it to even activate.  No lights, no cursor change to a hand instead of mouse when placed over the button.  It's nothing!  It's like a dead button!  Any hints on how to activate this?

Thanx again for your response, appreciate it!

Correy!

Use SHIFT+2 to open the SimIcons panel and press the E icon for External power and the BA icon external Bleed Air.

Thanx Mark,

So the Ext Pwr & BA are working great now thank you for that, however after following what you guided me to do for the APU... Still no fix, the APU is still LOUDER than ever, I just won't be able to run it bc it's so loud in my ears.  Yes I could always turn the master volume down, but then that just takes away from all the rest of the 'normal' simulation sounds!

Somebody told me, that I don't have te right CS 767 update (which supposedly fixed the sound issue) do you know anything of this nature?

It depends on whether you are using the latest v1.5 or an earlier version.

If you are not using the latest version, and you DO decide to update to it, keep your earlier v1.x installer just in case you want to revert back to it. Some people, who didn't have problems with v1.4 are having problems with v1.5.

To get the latest version, check-in to Your Profile > Product > Extended Download Service > Get New Links

Hi there!

If someone don't want to reinstall:
...I've made all 3 of them (Apu-Idle, start and switch off) more quiet, in fact -20db.
I would like to share them, if someone needs them, but I don't know if it's allowed.

Regards,
Joerg

I don't think Captain Sim mind if we do make/use mods for their aircraft (up to a point). You just need to be aware that we do it at our own risk. You need to clarify that anyone using your changes does it at their own risk too.

That's about what would happen, and I doubt it would. I have seen posts about changes that I thought for sure would be deleted, but they weren't. Wink

Well, the other day two of us had the distinguished honor of being deleted - not for mods however, but rather for being naughty i guess...  Roll Eyes

...thanks for that infos  Smiley
I don't want to risk my membership - and it's so easy, it took about 5min, so if anyone want to reduce any sound of any installed aircraft:

- You need an audio-editor, for example "audacity" is very good and for free. (I'm not allowed to post links, so please google it)
- Open the wave-soundfile you want to edit, e.g.  your flighsim-directory\Captain_Sim\767\sound\apu_start.wav
- Select the whole sound and raise volume with a negative number of decibel., e.g. -20
- Save it and replace the original audio-file, don't forget the backup-copy.

regards and a nice weekend,
Joerg

You can also use creative "wavestudio" except lower the value to 20%. The sound level is great now.
