Flight Sim Commander Connection Problem

Hello All,
I have both the B727 and B707 for FSX.  I also use FSC v8.6 as an external flight planner.  I can connect the B727 to FSC with no problems but I cannot connect the 707 Captain.  Any and all help appreciated

Hi
I think FSC command the AP by heading. Try to set your AP to HDG and see if it works.

Save the flight to Flight Sim X format (Documents\Flight Simulator X files). Load the flight with the 707 AFTER the 707 flight has already been started, because sometimes the default dpl.PLN (needed for the DNS to work) remains as the flight plan if I load the plan before I have started the flight from Free Flight. Connect FSC 8.6 GPS to FSX (I hide the GPS window). The 707 will follow the flight plan, you will hear the sounds as the 707 passes the waypoints in the plan. I have found that the FSC X (8.6) and FSC 9 GPS does not work on all payware aircraft. As far as I can remember, it does work on all the default FSX aircraft that have an autopilot.

Hope this helps.

I have just been through the same situation with FSC and CS707.

The heading  command from FSC doesn't seem to work with CS707, which is a pity. However if you save the FSC flight plan to your "Flight Simulator X Files" in Documents then you can load it into your CS707 flight before take off and the Autopilot will follow if in the NAV position.

Hi Ed.

When you save the flight plans, you get a choice of how to save them. Mine are normally set for FSC and FSX. So if there is a check mark (tick) in the boxes for FSC and FSX then it will be saved to both and the FSX flight plan will be in FSX format. Save it as something like DEP-ARR-FSC (e.g. YMML-YSSY-FSC) so you know it's the FSC plan you created.

Once you have your flight plan saved, start FSX, then, using Free Flight, start at the departure airport with the 707. Now open FS Flight Planner from the menu and load the plan you saved with FSC. Now you are ready to fly the flight plan. Go back to FSC and connect to FSX and fly the plan, only using the 707 autopilot (Autopilot Mode Selector knob set to NAV). FSC will follow the flight, but you will be using the 707 A/P, you will hear when you reach each waypoint as it will give you that "bingggg" sound. Grin

Hope this helps.

would it somehow be possible to disable the 707 autopilot and introduce the default autopilot from fsx?  does that only mean to disable the 707 autopilot cauges and insert the default?  ( ok looks bad but for a newbie might be able to fly the aircraft with FSC)

It depends (I think) on whether the VC Autopilot is built into the model or it is in the panel.cfg. If you do want to use the default A/P, the you will need to remove the A/P 2D gauge and possibly the A/P gauge in the [VCockpit.xx]. If you don't remove all the entries, then the 707 and default Autopilot will/could conflict with each other, which could lead to the autopilot not working at all.

The best way for me to show you how to do it, would be for me to do it first and show the changes I made. Give me some time and I'll see how I do. It could take a day and a half (36 hours), I have a wedding to attend to tomorrow which is going to tie me up for most of the afternoon and night.

Yesterday turned out to be far busier than I expected. I hope to be at it first thing in the morning. It's 1am here and I only got home an hour ago. I'll email you the files if and when I get it working. Wink
