Need Help Adding Winglets
Dec 12th, 2009 at 9:29pm
Print Post
Hello,
I just bought the 757-200 Base Pack and have it installed. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get the winglets to show up. ACE didn't add them, and I did some digging on this forum and found that I can add them manually by adding a W to the end of the model in the cfg. That didn't work either. I went and looked, and there are no model.RRW or model.PWW folders. Aren't they included with the base pack? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

In the aircraft.cfg look for ui_wglts=0 and change it to ui_wglts=1

An easy way to do this is to use ctrl+h and in the
Find what: enter ui_wglts=0
and in the
Replace with: enter ui_wglts=1

then click on Find next and click on Replace each time it finds it.

OR: you could just click on Replace all    <--- I tend to use this one mostly. Unless I don't want them all to have the winglets.

Hope this helps

Try reinstalling your 757. If there are no model.RRW or model.PWW folders in the CS_B757-200 folder,
you can't install winglets, as this are the models that have the winglets.
As soon as you have the folders (and the correct files in them) ACE will do the job just fine!

It is the easiest way to do. I was just curious when I  saw the ui_wglts=0 in the aircraft.cfg so I experimented with it.  Grin

Guys,

Bell 417 is right, I can't find the RRW or PWW models after I downloaded SP4.4! Can some one who has 4.4 confirm that they indeed have these models in their CS_B757-200 folder(It isn't in the model.rr nor model.pw nor model folders in mine). Captain sim, could u please confirm that these winglet models are indeed included in your 4.4 update? I haven't noticed this earlier because I was flying the 757 without winglets since the 4.4 update download.

Hi Alex.

You should read all the replies in this thread before posting. Smiley

The following is the 3rd reply:-

Ace works fine for me. But I also found that by changing the lines as per my first reply:
In the aircraft.cfg look for ui_wglts=0 and change it to ui_wglts=1.
Don't forget to backup any files you are going to modify just in case you make a mistake that might ruin it.  Wink

That's just it Mark, I dont HAVE those folders even with the reinstall and so  ACE CANNOT add the winglet models Sad. As you know, SP 4.4 is a complete new upload in and of itself, the instructions state to uninstall 4.3 then reinstall 4.4 and the 4.4 install packeage doesn,t have the PWW or the RRW models no matter how many times I reinstalled it. Any ideas? Anuone? Bueller? I guess its back to 4.3 for now.

Hi Alex.

I have the 757-200, -300 and Freighter version 4.4 and I too DO NOT HAVE them either, but I CAN still add or remove the winglets in ACE as well as with the way I mentioned in my last post.

Captain Sim is obviously using a new way of adding/removing the winglets and so either of the two methods should work. Both methods do work for me. It is the same for the Captain Sim 767's too.

This is an image of the contents of my CS757-200 folder. As you can see, there are no PWW or RRW folders in there, and yet my 757s still have winglets.

Mark,

You are right. It is a new way of adding winglets. I was cutting and pasting my .cfg entries for all my repaints after the 4.4 install and the sim and model entries were still using the 4.3 entries so the sim could not load the winglets because it was looking for the RRW and PWW models as it did in 4.3.Once  you suggested that 4.4 doesn't need the W models and I could simply add winglets with the ui_wglts=1 edit, I deleted the last W from the .cfg entries and...voila...we have winglets! Thanks for the help Smiley.Learn something new everyday in this hobby!

You are welcome Alex and I'm glad you got it sorted out.  Grin

I try to modify certain parts of the aircraft.cfg but I NEVER replace new version cfg files with old ones because sometimes they change things. It has happened too many times. Quite often I will compare the old to the new and this was how I picked up the ui_wglts=0/ui_wglts=1. Interestingly enough, ui_wglts isn't listed in the FSX SDK so I was somewhat surprised to see them.  Shocked

Mark, for some reason that didn't work for me. I've added the winglets in ACE, and then went and made sure the entry in the cfg was correct, but they still don't show up. I've uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times, and I'm still having the original problem. Guess it's time to contact support.

It's a pity it isn't working for you. I can't think why not. Hopefully Captain Sim Support can help you.

Here is something strange that happened to me: When I first got CS757 Pro Pack I noticed that when using ACE I had to first save without winglets (by default they weren't there), then select winglets and save THEN they would show. If I didn't do that then my 757s didn't have winglets. That was really strange, but it worked for me. In the current version of ACE I don't need to do that and everything works like it should.
