Moving around the ECL (Electronic Checklist)

Is it possible that you would consider changing the method from keystrokes to mouse input on the electronic checklist. The ALT arrow key combination conflicts with P3D default menu commands.

Thanks

While I agree that using the mouse input for the checklist would be better, the current ALT + Arrows does not conflict with the P3D menu commands at all.

That's good. Very good, can you please inform me how you can press the "Alt" key without the sim in P3D displaying the sim menu bar across the top. And further how to depress an arrow key in combination with the alt key without the sim scrolling through the menu?  I would really like that information if you could share it.

I see why you have the problem, you don't open the 2D display that is showing the Checklist. I always open the 2D display that I use to view Checklist in, so pressing the ALT + Arrows, doesn't move my view around, nor open the P3D menu.

To be honest, I have never really thought about using the checklist without opening the 2D display panel, as the display showing the Checklist moves to each view I go to (i.e. it stay visible each time I press the A, Shift + A, S, or Shift + S), so I find it much easier to check everything on the Checklist, while it's  visible as I'm doing it.

Actually this is helpful because it's never occured to me to try it in a 2d panel. I'll see if I can get used to that. But I still find it alot simpler to point and click and I thing that would be a helpful option to have.

Thanks

Mr Fletcher, I just tried your suggestion and it works quite well.  I further found that once the checklist group is selected (ie normal v abnormal) it automatically continues through the phases and you can interact with the checklist in the VC quite well without having to use the ALT key again.  Thanks for the information, it was very useful.

I am flabergasted!!!  A 2D panel?  My hopes my dreams of someone sticking with a 2D panel?  How do I get it to work?  When I cycle the "A" button it is just different views of the VC.  If you select SHIFT+#, you will get a 2d gauge.

What do I have to do to get the 2D panel?   I'm not a VC guy and only have a sidewinder for my work. Cant get good views from a sidewinder.

Either press SHIFT+2 to open the Simicons panel, then select any of the display icons within it (the six icons, in the bottom two rows, of the Simicons panel), and it will open the 2D *Display corresponding to that icon. You can also click on the Display panel in the VC, which will open the 2D Display of that panel.

Lower Center Display

Note. It's not like you get a 2D Captain/First Officer, Overhead, Aisle Consol, panels, like you get in the 767 Captain, and 757 Captain, so don't get too excited about 2D Panels. I use a VKB-Sim Gladiator MK II joystick, but I still use A, and Shift+A, to move around the VC/Exterior views.

I find that I still have to hold the ALT key to move through the list IF I skip over an item that isn't completed yet (like the ADIRU......... ON, ALIGNED).
