Loading a saved flight 757 III

Hello,

I was doing a flight and FSX-SE and was running out of memory.  So I saved the flight and shut down.  When I tried resuming the flight from the save file, it didn't seem to load up the flight plan or any of the flight configuration.  Needless to say, I lost the flight as a result.  I was trying to input the information into the FMC manually but that was a bust.

Is there a specific procedure to load up a flight with the 757 III using FSX-SE?  I can normally do this with other payware aircraft without issue.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, I couldn't figure out how to resume a saved flight (in the air).

I tried this by pausing FSX-SE, then saving the flight, but when I resumed the flight, I couldn't do anything with the switches/knobs (well at least not see the results of pressing a switch/knob), so that didn't help. To top it off, when I loaded the flight, it loaded my default panel state, so that leads to think that you might have to save the current flight's panel state as DEFAULT (making sure that Load Default Panel State is ON (or maybe the trick is to have it OFF? Hmm.)), so it loads when the flight is resumed. I'm not sure if this would include your current route though, of which it didn't reload after I resumed a flight like you did.

Will test for you later tonight, in P3Dv4, mind you, as I ditched FSX and its detritus ages ago.

I can try it myself, as I have the 757-III installed in 3 of the 4 sims (FSX-SE/P3D3/P3D4). Wink

Save you the work in P3Dv4. Just tried it on a route Liverpool to Gdansk. At 39k, saved, re-loaded P3Dv4, all there from the Saved Flight. EFIS knob, HDG knobs worked. So, all seems okay to me, at least.

Now if I can only figure out how to get it to work for FSX-SE, so Trance77 can resume a flight after he has to save the flight and quit due to his running out of memory problem.

One thing about FSX-SE, is that I find it has a lot less of those issues due to the few updates that Dovetail Games did. Mind you, since I've been using 32GB of RAM (which is many years now), I've never had an OOM problem with FSX, or FSX-SE.

Note. I haven't done a huge amount of playing on my Gaming laptop (with 16GB RAM) yet, but that will change on Tuesday (12/02) when I go into hospital for some test (supposed to be an overnight stay, but it usually ends up being 2-3 nights). Sad

Good Luck with the hospital tests. Been there, done it.

Although DG have improved FSX with their -SE, there is no escaping the fact that despite 32Gb or 16Gb of RAM, FSX in its various forms is basically a 32-bit game and Windows 32-bit or 54-bit cannot as if by magic make a 32-bit game address more than 4Gb of memory at any one time.

That's why I ditched that format. Pointless having that amount of RAM and not being able to utilise it. Like having a Ferrari that can do 250mph but only being allowed to pootle along at 20mph Grin

The way I do it is load the default flight at the default airport then load the save. Like I use that fighter jet in p3d v4 at that afb then load the 757 and it works fine. That method works in fsx too.
So basically open sim, go to free flight then click the button that loads the fight, once its loaded go to load save screen and load the saved flight. Should work. It does for me.

This method works on all the CS planes I've tested it on. I've tried it on all but the 727.
