Anyone know why the AP does not work properly in FSX-SE?

Cannot seem to engage Heading Mode at all.

The Height/IAS switch seems to work, but not the Heading.

Heading mode is working for me in FSX-SE.

This is how I do it:

POWER button - ON
ENGAGE button- ON
TRACK button - ON
HEADING MODE SELECTOR - HDG

and it works just like it should. Smiley

Glad you found one, but if there were any others, they would just be repeating the one you found. Wink

It was your guide, in fact, which like your 707 I find so simple to use. No faffing about. Straight to the crux of the start procedure.

Nice one.

One small question about the AP. How to I get the pitch up and pitch down to work properly so the climb rate or descent rate does not pitch up or down beyond 2000fpm? At the moment if I press the switch it does not respond in the direction I want to go up or down, or it goes silly degrees Pitch Up.

I just use the PITCH switch. It can sometimes be a little slow to respond, but it does respond.

Note. Both the 2D and VC switches are synchronised, so either of them works.

EDIT: Another trick that I often use is to press the HEIGHT (it's the Altitude Hold mode), then press CTRL+SHIFT+Z, then use the keyboard + and - keys to increse/decrease the HEIGHT altitude (you need to have Cockpit Tooltips enabled to see the altitude you want to set it to), then it will climb/descend at 1800 feet per minute.

slow to respond is no good when youre heading in to a mountain!

but mine does not even work at all...no matter how frantically i hit it...its a bad way to fly...

If I'm heading for a mountain, I turn the Autopilot off, and climb manually! I'll even try turning away if it's possible.
