Seems like the update is still not ready, the CS website still says February. After all the delays, I hope it will be perfect. Oh well, back to the waiting room  Cry

Very nice it will be updated... I hope it could increase the FPS of the main gauges too, as well as other fixes... The visuals are superior to other 737-200 available for FSX... It's a great airplane with lots of potencial...

Thanks...

I am enjoying the Captain Sim aircraft, including the latest ones that I purchased at reduced prices at Christmas time.  Still learning how to use the FMS, but have now successfully completed several flights.  Looking forward to the 737 update!  Smiley

A feature that I am hoping will be included is the ability to add and remove the cockpit eye brow windows on the exterior model and in the virtual cockpit. Most (if not all...) 737-200s these days are removing them and it would be nice to have this as an added feature to create accurate airline liveries.

A long time ago I know that an option for a new autopilot (Sperry 177) was discussed. Is this going to become a reality?

I'm guessing that there won't be anything in this update that isn't in the items "on the list for the next SP" in the Support Knowledge Base (http://www.captainsim.com/cgi-bin/kb.pl?p=x737&i=27) but I for one will be well happy just to have these things fixed. It would be nice for CS to confirm if all of these will make it in or if there are indeed any others but I guess, like all software, it will be done when its done... Wink

Just to add, an optional gravel kit would be nice too!

I'm just hoping that the PDCS is fixed, the auto brake works properly, the main doors connect to the aero bridges properly, the cargo bays connect to the baggage loaders correctly and hope beyond hope that the EPRs are more accurate for T/O, climb and cruise to real world settings.  If the EPRs can't be fixed, the PDCS should give give the correct EPRs for use in the sim.

Fingers crossed,

Nathan.

I downloaded and installed mine. Flying it now.

The installer works for FSX and FSX-SE, AND there is a P3D v2 version for sale in the store for €29.99. Grin

The Expansion Models can be installed into all 3 (FSX, FSX-SE and P3D v2).

I can't see any reference to an official update anywhere (list of fixes etc).  Where can I find this and download the new version?

is it just for the base pack or the expansions too?  Cheesy

If you log in to your order profile in the CS support area and then go to "Extended Download Service". Then hit "get new links" - that will give you the download. There's no indication of this but the file name is csp732_1600.exe. The 16 indicates the version (previous was 11). The base model and the freighter are certainly both updated. I'm not sure about the -100 as I haven't bought that but it should be.

Details of the update are here:- http://www.captainsim.com/products/x737/sp1600.html

All of the Expansion Models, AND the 737-200 Base Pack for P3D v2, are  listed as version 1.6.

Try reinstalling it again. Use the repair option. Make sure to install it using the Run as administrator option if using Vista/Win7/Win8/Win8.1.

To install using the Run as administrator option, right click on the installer and select it from the list that pops up.

Can anyone who had the user mods installed ( V-One gauge, bud's tweaks etc....) on the previous version and have now updated to the 1.6 compare the FDE of the two? I installed all the user tweaks and got the thing running well. I'm almost hesitant to install the 1.6. Interested to hear feedback of those two models.

1) Also, does anyone have CTD when using the PDCS? Does it seem to give useful/accurate info or just  throw out random data?

2) As well, has the VC night lighting been fixed. The old 732 VC had many inconsistencies in the night lighting.

3) Has anyone used Paul's V-One gauge with 1.6? Interested to see if it play's well with the update.

Personally I think the CS732 in the nicest plane graphically I've ever seen. Be nice to have the rest of it up to speed ( or close to it).

Thanks for your help.

Cheers,

Brian

I only tested the V-One guage, so I can't give a comparison. Sad

No CTD with the PDCS. The information does seem useful to me.

I don't think there is any difference.

Sorry. No.

I have been doing some testing today.

Like BrianG, I had the previous version working very well with Bud's FDE mods and Paul's V-One gauge (thanks guys!), so I was wondering how the update would affect things.

What seems to be working best for me is to install the V-One gauge, but without the changes to the aircraft.cfg that are normally done.  I tried it with Bud's mods and the cfg changes that were recommended with the V-One gauge, but it seems that many of those changes, at least the aircraft.cfg changes, are already pretty close to those values now with the service pack.  So just the stock 1.6 aircraft plus the v-One gauge, but no other FDE changes.

I did do the EPR offset change to the V-One gauge. (Where you change the value to 0.123)

Right now I am doing a flight that I am quite happy with the performance of the updated plane.  The V-One gauge is indispensable.  Maybe if I had a manual to learn how to use the PDCS properly, I wouldn't need the V-One gauge.

*UPDATE*
Descent seems much better now.  I can reduce thrust much lower now without the airspeed going too low.

Everything seems a bit smoother, CWS pitch control seems smoother and less herky jerky.

Thanks David Paul, good info to know. Might save my current 732 folder and install 1.6 . There's a good tutorial CoolP made of the PDSC (?). I found it very useful. it's on the first few pages somewhere of the 732 topic list

Anyone else experiences a "CTD" in v1.6 when loading the AC?

I've had similar in the past with CS aircraft - disabling the "update" guage always did the trick, but don't see one of those "things" here.

Any ideas?

My own troubleshooting here.

Looks like being caused by either on of the two "new" system gauges here.  Am able to paste in the old panel folder from the previous version (Always keep my backups!), and the 737 loads, and flys fine (tested all models).
Bad news is that I'm missing most of the update in the v1.6 - at least from a gauge perspective.  The New system gauges are much larger in v1.6, so guessing something in there is casusing the issue.

At least it is fly-able....

Hi Bob.

Not sure why the ACE isn't working correctly for you. I just tried the ACE for the 737 FSX-SE and it's working perfectly for me.

Note. I have the 737 installed for FSX as well, but I don't know if this may have some affect on the fact that that it does work correctly in FSX-SE.

It would have helped if you had said that my original reply didn't help. Anyway....Maybe you need to do a complete uninstall/reinstall as described in KB #685:

KB #685:

Q: How to reinstall a product?

A:
Quite a number of "issues" are caused by using of outdated version of a product. Prior to submitting a support request please make sure you have current version of a product.

To reinstall a product please perform the following steps in exact order:
Uninstall the product:
1. Go to Start> Programs> Captain Sim.
2. Select the product you wish to uninstall.
3. Click uninstall icon.

Install the product:
4. Make sure you have the latest version of the product
5. Run the product installer (the .exe file) and follow the prompts.
Please note: valid Order Number and Internet connection are required for installation/activation.

Please make sure you run the installation file as Administrator and that "User Account Control" is disabled (for Vista and Windows7), it limits admins ability to install programs.

If regular reinstall did not fix your problem you can try to clean registry.
Please be careful and do it on your own risk!

How to clean Registry:
1. Uninstall the product
2. Go to Start> Run. Type: regedit, click OK.
3. Find the product entry in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CaptainSim\ (please note, for Windows 64bit versions it is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\CaptainSim\)
For example: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CaptainSim\C130XPRO
Make sure you are going to delete correct folder!
4. Delete the product entry folder.
5. Restart your computer.
6. Install the product.

If you stil have issues and the above does not help we must admit your system configuration is a rare exception. You can try to install the product on another system or request a refund.

From: General / Download/Installation (QID 685)

I recommend that you try a Manual Offline Activation too. I do this all the time now.

Thanks Mark, I think the problem is I had my old FSX installed and completely removed it from my computer, before I installed FSX-SE. However when FSX-SE setup files in application data or program data the files went under FSX, not FSX-SE. So when I install an FSX-SE aircraft some of .dll or .cfg files go to, and also create FSX-SE folder. I'm sure this is why I'm getting the error code. The problem is now I have reached my install limit on the 737, and have to wait for CS to reset my limit again. Bob

I LOVE this plane Smiley

But i think, the altitude alert knob is now very very sensitive. Can someone comfirm? It's hardly possible to set an altitude with the mouse buttons, just with the scroll wheel i can match the correct altitude after some fiddling. To fix control acceleration via FSUIPC seems to have no effect.

I like the 737, but version 1.6 could become a lifetime relationship Smiley

Thank you Captain Sim for this 737 update. Smiley  So far all is working fine except for ACE.  It says "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file.  You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."  Also  tried running ACE as administrator, same result.  ACE for the other Captain Sim aircraft works normally.  I'm using FSX, not Steam version.  I also will have to reinstall the V-One gauge, as I didn't realize until too late that it had been deleted with the update.  Assume I can just reinstall it.

Captain Sim sent me a new ACE for the 737.  When I first tried to install it, Deep Guard, which is part of my Charter Security software, blocked the installation.  However I was allowed to override the block and install it anyway.  After doing so, ACE for the 737 works correctly, and all is well! Smiley

It takes a lot of effort on the part of Captain Sim to develop simulations such as the 737.  The new update for the 737 is a great improvement, and was well worth the wait.  Also, thanks for the rapid response to my concern regarding ACE.

I've bought 737 Captain Base and Expansion Pack for FSX.
For a few years ago I am totally moved to P3D2 (no FSX anymore).
Now, the CS also published 737 to P3D. Whether there is a Passenger Cabin view in P3D2 version?
Do not give CS me any discount for 737 P3D version?
Do you really have to pay again full price?
If this is so,(no discount), then I just will not buy CS 737, because I already have other 737 for P3D2!

Does the PDCS work correctly now?

Yes. It has the full cabin included. Smiley

There is no discount for those who bought the 737-200 for FSX, so yes, you have to buy it for the price in the Captain Sim online store.

Still crashing when programming the PD. Also the spool up sound is still evident.

Was really hoping the above would be working.
Is the pressurization working properly on your model? I may not even install this update. User tweaks and performance tables found on the internet work OK with this plane.
CS installers are like rolling the dice every time. Run as Admin, AV off, Reg clean, all the usual's, still a crap shoot. Possibly my original installer won't work again if 1.6 fails. I had to pull teeth to get this thing working with the last version. Too paranoid to delete what I have.
Not really all that disappointed though. I've lower the bar and my expectations considerably for this company. I wasn't excepting much from CS in the first place.

Mine has not crashed at all when programming the PDCS (in FSX, FSX-SE and P3Dv2), and I do not get the spooling up sound in FSX either. I do get a sound in the 737 in both FSX-SE and P3Dv2, but not all the time. It doesn't sound like the engines or the APU spooling up. Undecided

If you like to try 1.6 but you are worried about your modes, liveries etc., you can do the following:
1) rename /FSX/SimObjects/Airplanes/CS_B737-200/aircraft.cfg, e.g  _v1000__aircraft.cfg
2) rename /FSX/SimObjects/Airplanes/CS_B737-200 folder, e.g  _v1000__CS_B737-200
3) run csp732_1600.exe, install and try v.1.6.

If you didn't like v.1.6 and decide to go back to v.1.0
1) Uninstall v.1.6 ( Control Panel -> Uninstall a program -> 737 Captain (737-200) 1.60 FSX)
2) run csp732_1000.exe and install (it will work)
3) delete /FSX/SimObjects/Airplanes/CS_B737-200 folder
4) rename  _v1000__CS_B737-200 back to CS_B737-200
5) rename _v1000__aircraft.cfg back to aircraft.cfg

At this point you will have your v.1.0 version with all your modes and liveries.

Well, thank you CS. Quite a contrast to the customer support of old- reaching out personally to a concern with a potential solution, rather than referring customers to an irrelevant knowledge base item and leaving it at that. Is there someone new within the organization who may have re-thought your customer service approach? Not my imagination- this would have never happened a couple years ago. This is the kind of support I get from just about every other developer I do business with. Better late than never as they say. Keep up with this type of approach. Although it's a little more tedious, and you have to keep answering the same questions over and over again until it drives you nuts, it's all part of the job. Although customer problems are redundant to you, they're not to the person who is experiencing the issue. No matter how many times a question has been answered, I always receive a personal note from the develop for a solution, not just a canned response.  Reaching out to your customers in this manner will pay dividends very soon.  You guys have some catching up to do to in putting out fires and gaining a positive public perception. This is a great start and good to see.
Yes, I'll give your solution a try.

Best,
Brian
