Without getting too complicated, how do you to a transatlantic flight using Doppler navigation? It will fly a certain distance for a certain number of miles, but what heading do you use? Or do you just point yourself "east" from Nova Scotia and hope for the best when you can pick up Irish nav aids on the other end?

I look at the map in Flight Sim Commander 9 and measure distance/heading using the distance/measurement tool. I write the info in Notepad for the distance/heading to each selected waypoint, and use them as my guide. By the time I get within range of the VOR's in Ireland (or Nova Scotia when heading west), and either change the heading on the Doppler for the next leg, or switch to using the VOR tracking. Undecided

I tend to fly using the INS most of the time, but Doppler navigation is fun. I stopped using it for a long time because it was very inaccurate (in v1.1), and did not know that it was fixed up in v1.2 for a very long time (I mention this in a post in the 707 forum somewhere). Cheesy

Hello,

You can use Doppler NAV for ANY Distance. The important thing is that you load the flightplan correctly.

This is how I do it:

First I select "Manual" and switch to "A" on the Doppler NAV Controller. Second I load my flightplan. Now the plane will follow the course in AP NAV-Mode showing the distance to the next WP in the Doppler NAV Controller  Smiley

But the max leg distance which the Doppler NAV Controller can display is 999 miles. I thing this is no thing to worry about  Cool
