Long haul flight is going well

Like the topic says, my current long haul flight fligt from YMML to KLAX (expected to be 16.5 hours) is going well. I only have about 7.5 hours left to go and it's flying as steady as a rock. I've never had any major problems with long haul flights, except for the occasional FSX CTD (this can happen to any addon aircraft I have that is capable of an 6+ hour flight, and not just the CS 777).
On the takeoff, it took a while to reach V1, VR and V2 (I thought for a while I might not have enough runway Shocked). The climb was nice and it never exceeded 5000 fpm. It took more than 3.5 minutes to reach 10000 feet, when it usually took about 2 minutes to reach it before. It was a bit unstable turning from HORSH to ALBAK (YMML DOSEL8.16 SID), and again on the turn from ALBAK to CHIMU, but no where near as bad. I think my MS Sidewinder FF2 joystick plays a part in this because as soon as I disable the joystick (CTRL+K), it stops being so harsh (I did this midway through the turn towards CHIMU. Maybe I should buy a new joystick. Undecided

Anyway. It's going extremely well and all I have to do now is wait until it reaches the T/D. Who knows, maybe I'll pause it and go to bed. It's now 9:30am and I've been up all night doing a lot of testing on the 777, before starting this long haul flight. Shocked

On my next long haul flight, I plan to do a longer one in the 777-200LR. I just need to pick what flight I'll do that is a fair bit longer than the current 6989nm flight. Cheesy

Edited:
I forgot to say that I did not use a reduced thrust takeoff, nor did I switch the thrust to CLB in CDU. I did notice that the N2 indicators went RED briefly during the climb. It went fully on near the T/C (for about 30 seconds)

My wife thinks I'm crazy when I do the same. Maybe she is right, but is good to know I'm not the only one. Shocked

You are not alone! My wife just rolls her eyes and shakes her head. At least she'll make a cup of coffee for me every now and then. The rest of the time, I have to get my own (and maybe have to make her a cup of coffee too!). Cheesy Grin

Markoz and All,
I am glad you all enjoying with 777 1.2 version. Unfortunately I stocked in second step of installations.
Download completed with out any problem. Activation also completed.
When I opened the first screen, 777 has no landing gear and none of cockpit panel DU has power and they are all black . In background both engines are in high idle sound:'(

Is it possible I am using P3D? I have no longer using FSX.

Okay. Flight is finished and it was great! Other than the weird behaviour at the beginning of the SID, it went all the way to LAX without any problems. It also took 15.1 hours to do, and I'm beat (never got to go to bed yet). But I'm sure happy as Larry about how well it all went!

No looking into a longer flight, so I'll look into Vancouver to Sydney in the LR!

I Haven't tried v1.2 in P3D yet. I wanted to be sure it all went well in FSX.

Take a look in you registry to see what the entries look like. Make sure yopu have a x770 and x772 entry. If they are missing, then that coulfd be you problem.

I have the advantage that I have FSX and P3D installed, so copying from FSX to P3D is the easy way. Wink

About to wrap up KIAH-ESSA (163 NM to go).  I do the same thing and if my wife weren't gone on a trip (Flight Attendant), I'd get dirty looks too! Smiley

On the long hauls, I time them so they'll fly while I'm sleeping (kind of realistic anyway).  Started at 8pm last night, woke up at my usual time at 5am this morning and I'll land and shut down before I get ready for work.

The 772ER (GE) has performed quite well.  I did get the red N2 indicators too (almost all the way through the climb between FL200 and FL370 cruise, but otherwise not a big deal.

My first departure was crazy... Took off at RKSI, speed zoomed straight past 250kts, then overspeed, then the nose pitched up to compensate for overspeed, then quite a stall (speed went down to 90kts  Undecided ) and then a few ups and downs but now im cruising and everything seems fine.

Do you adjust the TRIM to the same setting (or s close as you can get) as listed on the TAKEOFF page? I do this as often as I can (which depends on if I remember or not). It seems to effect the takeoff performance if I don't do it. Undecided

So, for those of you doing these long hauls, does this mean that
anti-ice nonsense is no longer a problem, or do I still have to worry
about my engines flaming out if I don't give some magic key sequence?

Also, it sounds from the description, that no one has VNAV working
on takeoff, is that correct?

Did I read correctly ? You manually change TO to CLB in the CDU ?

Should this not be automatic with LNAV, VNAV and TOGA set at takeoff and AP engaged after 400 ft  ?
