767 300 FMC settings and take off
Jun 10th, 2013 at 6:42pm
Print Post
I am doing every thing as per the tutorial by Aussie (757 Captain 4.x > 757 version 4.x (FSX ONLY) > 757 - 200 Tutorial.

Every time I take off using To Go settings and press EPR the aircraft takes off alright but within seconds stalls and crashes.

Can any one guide me as to where I am going wrong ?

Thanks in advance

Not sure what you mean you are doing, but it sounds like you are using CTRL+SHIFT+G to initiate TOGA, and then you are switching to EPR.

I do not move the throttles forward at all, and I do not press CTRL+SHIFT+G to initiate TOGA, I simply click on the EPR button.

Also, with the 767, I always leave the TRIM set to 4 (it's default position). So if you are trimming it down to 2.xx as guided by the TAKEOFF REF page, then that might be causing the nose to drop after takeoff.

Even though the TAKEOFF REF page shows a trim setting of 2.33, I have left it set to 4.

Thanks a lot for the reply Mark.

Though I was not using CTRL+SHIFT+G to initiate TOGA mode,
I was giving full throttle and then switch to EPR. I will
try without giving any throttle.

Also I was settin up the TRIM as per FMC. I will try with a value of 4.

Tried these and failed again. It took off and within seconds stalled and came to ground. Sad

May be my question is a silly one - am I to  set the vertical speed at
the time of take-off in spite of going through the FMS/CDU ?

You can't engage the autopilot below 200 feet AGL!

You must advance the throttle above 1.00 EPR - Actually I advance to almost full and the auto throttle will keep me from exceeding the T/O EPR limit. This is with A/T armed and EPR selected to ON. VNAV, LNAV & CMD - all off.

Make sure you trim your aircraft properly... Most of the time my C of G is around 35 - 40% and that is usually with a 3/4 load out. I have never had a problem when trimmed within the green band...

When you rotate, don't climb more then +20 degrees and trim nose down once you are around 1500' to maintain about +7 to +10 degrees, and that is usually when I engage the VNAV and LNAV. Sometimes I wait a few more thousand feet before using VNAV.

I hope this helps.  Wink

Thanks for the suggestions.
Of course I do not engage AP below 200' AGL.
I am also trimming as per the figures given in FPS.
May be my rotation is not proper. I will try again.
Thanks again

Not sure if I have the same problem, but when I take off, VNAV points my nose down immediately. I take off with LNAV armed, climb to my thrust reduction altitude, then engage VNAV and the autopilot.

Have you executed (EXEC) the flight plan in the CDU?
Also, once you have completed all the pre flight requirements in the CDU, you should get the message COMPLETE (under PRE-FLT (see image below)).
