Setting VOR radios manually

Dear All,

Could somebody please tell me how can I set the VOR radios manually. I tried it in RAD/NAV page, but it says invalid entry. The VOR1 and VOR2 frequencies are set automatically, but how can I set them manually. In case of the 767 there is an option to set MAN or AUTO below the frquency selector knob, but I can not find such an option in the B777.

Thank you in advance,

Peter

Hi Lt.Peter,

1) First of all, you must check out if your available VOR frequencies source is the same from that used by CS777. T7 version 1.1 uses AIRAC cycle 1202 Rev 1, valid (from/to): 09/FEB/2012 - 07/MAR/2012 (this information is available at [My computer > Local disk (C) > Program files (x86) > Microsoft Games > Microsft Flight Simulator X > Captain Sim > navigation > cycle_info.txt and Navaids.db]).

VOR frequencies showed at original FS GPS are from an older AIRAC cycle, and not all, but some VOR and ILS frequencies were changed or simply closed and new ones appear along the time. This can cause a "Invalid Entry" msg.

2) How I usually do it, not only in 777, but in 767 and 757 too:

I don't use the VOR frequencies selector knobs at radio stack.

Open 2D [CDU] panel and go to [NAV RAD] page. Enter your new desired VOR frequency on scratchpad, using CDU keys and then click on [L1] or [R1] keys. If you are within station range, the VOR station identifier, generally a 3 letters code, must appear on CDU.

Hope this helps.

Pinatubo.

Edit:

Dear Pinatubo,

I do it just as you explained, but I can not change the frequencies. I can do it with the NDB, but not with VOR1 or VOR2. I put the required freq. into the CDU/NAV-RAD page's scratchpad and then pressing L1 or R1, but it does not work.

Can you chenge the frequencies every time? It looks for me that it tunes automatically, thus the frequencies are locked and can not be changes manually.

Best regards,

Peter

Hi Lt.Peter

Yes, it tunes automatically by default, but I can change the VOR frequencies always I want to do it.

Whenever I manually enter a new frequency it appears on CDU, showing the letter [R] (I'm not sure what [R] means) between the frequency digits and the station identifier.

Pressing [DEL] (Delete) and then [L1] or [R1], VOR tunes automaticaly again, showing the letter [A] (I'm pretty sure it means AUTO) instead of [R] as stated above.

The following pics show what was said.

Remark: Now I'm flying over the Atlantic ocean, far enough from the coast, thus none VOR is available.

After manually entered frequencies:

Deleting or clearing:

Auto tuning again:

I have the same problem, I can not change the frequency via the CDU (shows "invalid entry"), its frustrating, I can not even set ILS frequency when I try to do an ILS app.  Sad

Strange issue. Well, I did all my best to help, but unfortunately it seems there is something wrong at installation procedure and/or with your installer.

I suggest you to try the following steps, one each time:

1) Reinstall the add-on using [REPAIR] option, or;

2) Uninstall the add-on, clean all registry data [start > regedit.exe (run as administrator) > Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\CaptainSim\ x770 and x772], restart PC and install it again, or;

3) If the problem persists, maybe your installer is corrupted.

a) Uninstall the add-on, clean all registry data [start > regedit.exe (run as administrator) > Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\CaptainSim\x770 and x772];

b) Download it again ---> Check-in to Customer Support > Select product > Extended Download Service > Get New Links;

c) Restart PC and install the add-on from the new installer, or;

4) If it still doesn't work properly:

Check-in to Customer Support > Select product > Submit a Ticket.

Hope this helps.

Pinatubo.

If you look at those CDU pics (R) seems to me to be in Radial track mode.

You could try placing an (I) where the (R) is being shown for ILS mode.
Just my guess. I don't own the plane.

They are VOR receivers they can't tune an ILS frequency, let alone operate in "ILS mode" (whatever that is).

The only function of a VOR is tracking a radial, or pointing to the transmitter.
