It appears that this is better in Win8 64bit than it is in Win7 64bit. I have more testing to do, but I gotta say I AM IMPRESSED!

I am currently doing a short flight in the 777 in FSX on Windows 8. The clock and timer works fine, the graphics on the displays do not flicker. And in general, it seems to fly better!

I was even surprised to get a message on the VNAV and PROG pages to do a Step Climb from FL320 to FL360! Here are a couple of screen shots:

I have no idea! I get a much better frame rate than that in Windows 7 64bit, AND with Orbx AU and NZSI installed. However, in Windows 8 64bit, I have only FSX with Acceleration and all of Captain Sim's FSX products installed. I have no other 3rd party add-ons installed at all.

The FMC will tell you when a Step Climb is due.

On the VNAV CRZ PAGE, enter the new altitude in the FMC (LSK L1). e.g. I'm flying at FL310, when the FMC PROG page, and VNAV CRZ page, show that a step climb is due NOW, I enter the new altitude into the Altitude Hold Indicator, then change FL310 to *FL350 on the VNAV CRZ page (LSK L1) and then press the EXEC button. The aircraft will initiate a climb to FL350 straight away.


* An ICAO Step Climb equals 4000 feet. I sometimes use 2000 foot Step Climbs (just because I can ).
