What could cause this ? I m looking foward to finally fly this bird

For Vista/Win7/Win8 users, install them using the "Run as administrator". Right click on the installer and select "Run as administrator" from the list that pops up.
If the product is already installed, select the Repair option when given the choice to Repair or Remove.

That still did not work, and I think something might be wrong with the installer I downloaded.  Reason is, I looked in the panel directory for the aircraft and saw the an unpacked cab file... several folders named Captain_Sim.x737.xxx. If I'm not mistaken that is an unpacked cab file.  I am going to try to download the file again.

Nope, that wasn't it.  I've restarted and reinstalled.  Uninstalled and restarted, then reinstalled.  Still black guages! erg. LOL

Your activation might have failed, so you probably need to do a complete uninstall and reinstall as described in KB #685.

Check-in to Your Profile > Product > Customer Support > Search KB or Submit New Ticket. Search for #685 (without the #).

Okay I just re-installed the whole thing following #685 steps. I run as admin, turned off UAC and cleaned the registry. I activated it again with my order number but still those same black gauges and no landing gear. Could it be a wrong order number ? Do I need acceleration pack  or SP1 and SP2 installed on fsx to use this plane ? Maybe this is my problem how can I know if SP1 and 2 are installed ?

Thanks

I don't know if that could help but I actually tried to install the rest of the planes i bought (707 727 and 777 ) and i have the same result no gauges no landing gear so the problem isn't just for the 737 hehe

Hi G.Fournier

It could be a problem with the your order numbers. It might be best to submit a ticket explaining that they all have black/blank gauges.

Yes. I have a friend that ordered it, as well, and the difference between his registry and mine is a much longer number on the reg number.  Also, at further testing of the 777 I purchased with the 737 when pushing shift 1-9 to bring up the instruments for those, they are black boxes.  I've tried every possible reinstall method on both and still the same problem.  I'm submitting a ticket.  Thanks for your help.

The numbers can vary significantly. Like the differences I see in my 767 Captain purchases.
The 767-300 Base Pack and the 767-200, 767-300 Freighter & KC-767 Tanker Expansion Models order numbers are fairly short.
My 767 AWACS Expansion Model, has a long number (more of a long alpha-numeric order number).
I pretty sure that my 767 AWACS was bought through Paypal, but still using my Credit Card.
Pretty much all the rest of my purchases have been using the Credit Card in the online store, so they all look similar to the first list of 767 that I bought. Nothing much to worry about really. I don't know how the order numbers are generated, or why they differ, but they all work fine for me.

Well, if that's not it, then.  What I've done is uninstalled both the 777 and 737 which have the same activation, and deleted them from the registry, the pc profile/appdata/Roaming/FSX pathway and the games directory. I'm going to install just one and launch the game, to see what happens.  --refer to this post for an update in a few moments. Kiss

UPDATE:  Yeah, that didn't work, either.  Now going to try to reinstall service pack 2.  and if that doesn't work, shucks... I'll try reinstalling FSX, of course that means reinstalling everything and a whole day.  By the way, when I installed the 737 just now, I did the offline activation procedure.  Just throwing that in to let you know that I did the install a whole different way.  But didn't work.  Hopefully this next thing will.  Really want to fly these planes. Undecided
OH, and one more thing important to know.  My friend with the same 737 from CS I have his installer and his plane is working.  I'm getting the same results from both the one he downloaded and the one I downloaded, so I dont think its the installer or a case of corruption in either one.

Okay, I did a complete reinstall of FSX after being sure that it was completely removed from my system.  IN THIS ORDER-
1.  Installed FSX STANDARD to C:/FSX instead of using (x86) Program Files directory for my 64 bit system Running Win 7 - rebooted
2.  Activated FSX and loaded game to set settings.
3.  Rebooted
4.  Installed Acceleration, which comes with SP2 and activated.
5.  Rebooted
6.  Loaded Game to set settings.
7.  Rebooted
8.  Installed 737 and activated offline.
9.  Rebooted
10. Loaded Game and then the Aircraft 737.  Worked!
11. Shut game down and installed the 777 and activated.
12. Rebooted
13. Loaded FSX then 777.  Worked!

It's a complete fresh install and different location on my harddrive - no FSUIPC installed nor any of my other addons. But the two planes from Captain Sim are working beautifully!  Thank You, Captain Sim.

I've never had to do a fresh install of FSX/Acceleration to get Captain Sim add-ons working.

Having FSX originally installed in C:\Program Files (x86) could explain the problems. I know that other developers of complex add-ons for FSX DO NOT recommend that FSX is installed in the default location on Vista/Windows 7 (and probably Windows 8 is added to the list now), due o the security those OS's have over that location.

Anyway. I'm glad you got them working now.

Yes, alot to go through to discover that being the cause.  I might add that the performance of FSX has overall improved, as well.  Cheesy
I really appreciate your help. Thank you, very much! Smiley
