Resuming saved flights the easy way with the 757

Ive been looking in to this today to find out why fsx wont resume the a saved 757 correctly and i think i have the reason why.

Simply put, the FSX main menu breaks the save file and stops it from loading correctly. If you set the 757 fully started as your default flight it will still break the save file. I have tested disablepreload=1 in the fsx.cfg and it did not load the save flight correctly.

So on to how to resume your saved CS 757 flight - DO NOT RUN FSX First as you need to load fsx from the save file and directly in to your flight.

For windows vista and windows 7 users, open up your "My Documents" folder then browse to and open your "Flight Simulator X Files" folder from there double click on the name you gave your saved flight for my test it was this file "757 test flight.FSSAVE".

The File you need to run will end in FSSAVE so make sure you pick the correct one for your saved flight as it will load you directly in to the flight, bypassing the FSX menu screen.

If you use windows xp.. sorry i have no idea where fsx places the save files but im sure you do Smiley

Before you plan a very long flight i do recommend you test this works for you by planing a short flight and saving part way in to it or by loading the 757 to an airport of your choice and fully starting and loading a flight plan in to the fmc.

Thanks for that gandy. I have started many flights directly from the Flight Simulator X Files folder, but never a Captain Sim aircraft mid flight save. I don't normally save them in-flight. I do my long haul flights at x1. I have done this in flights up to 16 hours, so I shall give this a try and see how I go with it.

One thing to take note of is all the extra lines at the bottom of the saved FLT file. I have only see these in the saved files for Captain Sim aircraft and I think they are essential to the settings being done correctly. For quite some time, I have been recommending starting the Captain Sim Cold-n-Dark and Ready for takeoff flights using the method you mention. So I wouldn't be surprised to find that it works. Wink

Gandy,

when I double click on the fssave file all it does is open the file with wordpad and does not open the flight in fSX at all. Am I doing something wrong? I have XP.

Right mouse click on the FSSAVE, then select Open with > Choose a program > browse for fsx.exe (check the box to always open with fsx.exe) then press OK.

Don't worry about it. I just asked you for an answer, to get a feedback if my way to do, works for you. Smiley

I'm having trouble pausing a flight and then going back.  The VNAV gets screwed up and then the flight sucks.  After that it is hard to salvage the flight.

I had that problem during the initial v4.6 testing, but by the final release, it no longer caused problems for me. I have paused mine for up to 2 hours and when I unpause it, it works perfectly.

If using real world weather it can continue to update even though the sim is paused which can cause a lot of issues with violent wind shifts etc..
