Is there a patch coming?  If so when?  There was talk of a 1.1 patch but that a long time ago.

I asked that here just two days ago. I admit it doesn't stand out in my reply, but it is there.

Just before Christmas, Captain Sim had a released a video show the wings from the VC which would be featured in the next update (v1.1). So I guess it in "the pipeline" somewhere.

This is the video I am referring to:

Would it be asking too much to give us the facility to better intergrate the csweapons package into this model? 3D HUD maybe or even better, a live Weapons Officer VDU. Tongue

Yes, we'll release the 1.1. It's going to be more an upgrade than a patch, because there are not much to fix. This is one of the reasons why we hold it, waiting for some bugs to pop-up.

He's right, it's a great plane, and knowing you guys, I'm sure you guys have already got the bugs HVYENG and I pointed out in the beginning (like the hole in the cockpit, lol)

I am excited to see the wings from the VC, but with all the CS birds I have, waiting for a fix isn't a big deal  Wink

For the record. I am a huge CS supporter. I am very happy with my Herc, weapon, and Buff. Also my FS9 707, 104.

But some of the things that you post?  Lips Sealed

He is right. What are we thinking?
We paid money for the buff and who are we to expect support for our purchase?

Let the Devs sit on there hands and wait till they feel it is time that we deserve and update. Do not want them to have to put forth any effort till something is broke enough for them to fix. Only then are we worthy of the update.

Not sure if this is arrogance or disregard for your customer?

Either way I do not feel that you have my best interests in mind.

They are working on multiple products, and it takes time. Please, just relax and let them do their jobs. That is not arrogance, or disregard. They are doing a better job than you or I could do, so let them get to it and don't insult them.

Will we have to pay for the upgrade or will it be available as a download to those that have purchased the plane?

We are sorry you are not happy with our product. Let me stress a couple of points:

1. We think support is not just a fix. A fix is not a support.

2. We are sorry you are upset about the fact the B-52 is good enough and does not require any fix OUT OF TURN. We have a line of 22 previously released still current products that might need a fix too. We do not think the B-52 requires a special attention.

Check-in to Your Profile > Select product > Customer Support > Search KB or Submit New Ticket. Then using option A, select B-52 Driver and On the list for next SP.

There are several things listed there, but I'm sure Alex can give more information than that, IF there is anything else, not on that list.

Captain Sim don't always list ALL the changes until they release the update. I know I'm hoping for a bit more than that too.

While we're talking about upgrades and fixes, is there any word on whether or not there will be a CAPTAIN model of the B52 released somewhere down the road?

Just get the nose down so it takes off and fly's like a B-52 instead
of a 747 and I'll be happy.

Bumping the thread and reminding the guys about the unofficial fix from HvyEng and Collin, giving you a nice TO attitude and some other fixes. Just search this forum.

But 1.1 would be highly appreciated.  Smiley

There is no harm in mentioning what sorts of things you would like to see included in the CS B-52. The main thing to remember it that it is a "Fun Line Product" and not a "Pro Line Product", so you have to be aware that Captain Sim may not add or change it very much from what it already is.

We can always hope.

I think I have found the reason for the upgrade delays on the B52 and the other aircraft. Captain Sim is a small software copmpany from what I have seen and read and they have a lot of products with new ones coming out all the time. They have fallen behind the curve Smiley in my opinion doing upgrades for the products they have already out on the market.
They said a 1.1 upgrade to the B52 was coming out and that was said last year. The 757 new patch has been in beta testing for awhile, but I will wait for all the patches but I just wanted to say what I thought about the patches.

BTW The new issue of Flight Journal has a great article on the BUFF

I just hope the flight dynamics are fixed, the B-52 takes off a little tail high, in cruse flight it's maby 5* +/- nose down, when landing the front trucks should about 6" above the rear trucks almost level. I don't know for a fact, but I belive this is due to the angel of the wings in relation to the fuselage.....don't quote me on that fact....., but I do know that in cruse flight it should be nose down
Thank You

I hope so too.
In the mean time, you can use the MOD from TurboFanDude and HeavyEng to sort that and a few other problems.
You can download it from the link provided in the original post here: http://www.captainsim.org/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1296605980.

I also modified my B-52 so it would takeoff and land with a correct level attitude. Didn't realize anyone else had made a fix. Smiley

Totally LOVE this aircraft, big thanks to Captain Sim for making such a gorgeous model. The eye candy factor is awesome. Even if I had to tweak it's flight model to my liking, I still can't say thank you enough to Captain Sim for building this machine. Smiley

Looks like it was released in December 2011, but I didn't hear about it until today. Sad

Count me in, Mark. Was there an announcement at all? However, I gave a HU over at Avsim, just in case.  Grin

Well if there was, I missed it. But... I must admit that I don't check the Captain Sim update calendar page very often. Embarrassed
I think that is about to change though. Wink

Does 1.1 require an uninstall of the existing install, or do you just overwrite it?

I'm not sure if it does or not, but I think it is always best to uninstall the old version and then install the new version.
And so that is exactly what I did.

Is it a good thing to reinstall the tweaks available here in the forum after 1.1 install?
Thanks!

You mean the ones from Collin and HvyEng? Yes, I'm using the aircraft.cfg and air file of theirs since the plane would be way too powerful with the original 1.1 settings. But that's personal preference since the plane is a fun line product, so maybe some folks have fun chasing Concorde.  Grin

I think the rest of the mods isn't needed in 1.1. Only the aircraft.cfg and air file are recommended. Back up the 1.1 ones and try it. Reverting back is easy then.

I did not keep 1.0. But I saw that some files are newer than the mod pack ones, so there must have been some changes involved. I found out that the transponder issue wasn't solved though, so maybe not all things made it.

However, with 1.1 you get your wings in the VC and with the mod pack files you get some less overpowered experience, so the B-52 impression should be fine for a fun line product.

And what about the fuel panel missing lines, the hydraulic panel and typos, has this been corrected?   Undecided

Me too!!!

I uninstalled V1.0 yesterday downloaded and installed V1.1, I just could not see any changes.

I renamed the CS_B52 folder and reinstalled V1.0 and did a close comparison using text comparator software on the cfg files and saw no changes including camera definitions. All the files carry the same date and time stamps around Nov - Dec 2010?

The uninstall program, csB521_uninstall.exe, in the FSX root directory has the only date stamp change.

Exactly what was upgraded in V1.1? Undecided

Can those who have installed v1.1 tell me if it includes the modifications to the fuel panel with the arrows on the knobs making clear the flow directions?  I saw that Rick Freedom asked about this, but I didn't see an answer to that part of his question.
If the mod does not change the fuel panel, does anyone have the posting reference for that modification?  I looked for it but couldn't find it.

Trailboss, you'll find it on "B-52H FIXES - DOWNLOAD HERE" subject, and look for Turbofandude posting.

I did the same thing as Lost in Isaan, I renamed the CS_B52 folder before installing v1.1.

The CS_B52_interior.mdl file, is bigger (12,557KB) than is was in v1.0 (10,993KB). This is right because we can see the wings and engines in from the VC.

The fuel panel does have the fuel flow lines and looks a better (IMO) than the modified texture, by HeavyEng and TurbofanDude, in the mod.

I can't remember all the spelling mistakes, but there is one that is still there: 200 KNOTS MAX DURING REFRACTION.

I'm not sure about the power/performance, but I did a test down the runway (B-52 Cleared for takeoff (KNKX)) and v1.0 hit the wall at the end of the runway at 290 knots while v1.1 hit the wall at 256 knots, so the thrust is down a bit so it isn't quite the rocketship of v1.0.

Version 1.1 does seem to have less power,  but my biggest gripe was the nose level attitude during level flight,  which is still the same in this new version.   I was also hoping to see the EVS turrests open,  since rarely do you ever see a real world B-52 fly with both of them closed.   I wonder if CS will be making any other patches for this plane.  Sad

Since the introduction of the V1.1 Patch I can see a new error, which has been introduced, in the way fuel is delivered from the Starboard External Tank. Departing with full tanks it discharges at twice the rate of the Port but both gauges read the same. Looking at the default fuel loads shows (A:FUEL TANK EXTERNAL2 QUANTITY,gallons) variable reaching zero whilst the gauge is reading 50% with the red light ON?

Replacing the V1.1 Model with the older MDL file fixes the problem!

Anyone else seen it?
