GND PROX/CONFIG GEAR OVRD

Greetings,

Have trolled though all the B7x7 posts but found no solution to this particular issue ...

The GND PROX GEAR warning is sounding off in the LOC intercept with 2 - 3,000ft to go, 160-180kts  and 5, 10 or 15 of flap. A bit premature?

Whatever, here's the problem: whatever the approach config. the overide switch (GND PROX / CONFIG GEAR OVRD) won't inhibit the aural warning to 'CHECK GEAR, CHECK GEAR' ... ad nauseum.

Lowering the gear is the only thing that shuts it up. Any clarification please? Is there a way to reset/change  parameters in an .ini or .cfg file somewhere?

Regards

Gareth

Try adding this to the aircraft.cfg to see if it helps:

[GPWS]
max_warning_height         =  1000
sink_rate_fpm              = -1500
excessive_sink_rate_fpm    = -2000
climbout_sink_rate_fpm     = -100
flap_and_gear_sink_rate_fpm= -100

Just so you know, these are copied from the CS757 aircraft.cfg where they are *commented out. The one of interest to you is max_warning_height=1000 and to a lesser extent, flap_and_gear_sink_rate_fpm=-100. Change it to your preference.

*From the FSX SDK help. Use the marks "//" to add a comment, or comment out a line you do not wish to be processed.

Hope this helps.

Hi Markov,

Thanks for the fast, and promising looking reply.

I'll try first opportunity and get back.

Cheers,

Gareth

This is from the aircraft cfg file. Change the value in the flap_limit_idle from 5.0 to 21.0. This should eliminate the warning until you select 25 degrees of flaps. You will need to lower the gear before selecting 25 to avoid the warning.

[gear_warning_system]
gear_warning_available = 1
pct_throttle_limit =  0.1
flap_limit_idle    = 21.0
flap_limit_power   = 25.5

Thanks for that tip.
I always screamed some words including the letters w,t and f as that warning came up although I pressed that "inhibit" button before.
