VC: add Wings please!!

Hey guys,

I got the B52 yesterday and I'm very satisfied with it. I didn't find anything really wrong yet =)

But, could you please add the wings to the Virtual Cockpit view?
It would be very nice to see the engines when you look to the left.

edit: please also add a clickspot to hide the yokes since they are sometimes blocking a lot of vital instruments!

Thanks,

Stefan

Unfortunately we can't because the wings won't fit into VC due to FSX polys limits.

You use THAT MANY polys in the B-52? WOW!

All those polys and I'm still getting great frame rates. I guess that means that the DrawCalls must be low. Grin

OK, I understand that. Thanks for giving the reason!

Otherweise, awesome model, I really love it and it's still growing on me.

Btw: Could you please tell me in what order I need to fill the tanks? I did a few short flights now and landing isn't perfect with "full tanks" =)

Thanks,
Stefan

Hi Stefan.

I empty in this order:

Center 1
Center 2
Center 3
Left and Right
Left Aux and Right Aux
External 1 and External 2
Right Tip and Left Tip

Make sure those paired tanks (Left and Right etc...) have equal amounts of fuel in them or your balance is going to give you a hard time.
Most Commercial Aircraft work from filling the outer tanks first and working towards the center of the plane. So I'm assuming the BUFF does too. I'm willing to accept that I could be wrong.

I'm still figuring out how the fuel pump switches work with them and will let you know if and/or when I do.

On my last flight I had on landing roughly the following:

Center 1: 100%
Center 2: 100%
Center 3: 0%
L/R: ???
Left Aux: 98%
Right Aux: 98%
L/R Tips: 0%
L/R External: 0%

I then removed everything but the fuel in Center1 and the engines died - I could only restart No1/2. I then added 20% back to all except Aux/Ext/Tip and it worked again.

Also what would a reasonable cruise FL for max range/speed be? I couldn't find anything on the internet and have gone with FL400 so far.

When you fly from FL380-400 at the Vmo you will always have wing vortexes because of the high AOA. I can't imagine that it would have those vortexes permanently though in real life...

Thanks, Stefan

You have to turn ALL the fuel pumps ON. Then you will need to figure out which fuel pump switch goes with which tank, so you can turn the ones to the empty tanks OFF. I also think that some are fuel flow valves that need to be opened too. I'm still working on figuring it out at the moment.

This is where you find the information:    ‘B-52 Driver’ FLIGHT MANUAL Part II – Aircraft and Systems, page 23, 38. FUEL SYSTEM MANAGEMENT PANELS

Good news: we've found a way to push the limits a bit.
Version 1.1 will have VC with the wings.
