Need help with 3 things...

Hi,
have bought the nice CS767 and have 3 little problems that i can't fix. 1. i can't set the autobrake switch in flight for landing (not in VC and 2-D panel). 2. the speed bugs in VC do not change there position when i set it in 2-D panel so i can't read the V-Speeds on take off. 3. at higher altitude the climb performance is not so good, is this normal in this plane?

Thanks, Chris

Hi Chris.

1. They don't seem to work on landing if I switch them on a long time before landing. What I do is this: I switch the autobrake to #3 once I am on approach. Flaps are at least 15o and speed is 200 KIAS or below.

2. The speed bugs in the VC are INOP. I keep the INIT page open on the CDU during take-off (and landing). OR. I keep note of the V speeds in my head during take-off (and landing). Mostly the first one though.

3. If the plane is too heavy for the altitude you are trying to reach, then set it to a lower altitude. Take a look at the VNAV page 2/3 and take a look at the altitudes listed under OPT and MAX. I round up the OPT to the next 1000 feet and set it in my altitude on the MCP (example. OPT = FL347 then I set it to FL350). OPT is the best altitude with regards to speed versus economy at the planes current weight. As the plane loses weight, the OPT altitude will go up. Do a step climb (also shown in the VNAV page 2/3 if the flight is long enough).

For more info on a step climb. See my reply in another topic HERE.

Hope this helps.

It seems like when I configured the FMC before flight, that the bugs are already set. They are either set correctly or they are already in that position.

Thank you Mark for your answer.

I was flying the other 767 addon for many years. But now i have changed to the CS. The climb power of CS's bird could be better but it works. I will try a flight and will set the autobrake during final (normaly i set it at the descend checks). Because the speed bugs, maybe CS makes a little update with FO call outs for V1-V2  Roll Eyes ?

Thanks for help,

Chris

Because I can't move them. I don't pay a lot of attention to them. They might be pre-set by the FMC, but I don't think so. If I have a light plane, the speed bugs appear to be higher, for my take-off and landing, than those listed in the CDU. I'm pretty sure that is what led me to do it he way I described in my previous post.

Ok, have done some flights and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't work. Is this a bug? Why i can't switch them? I can brake manually but in bad weather i need the autobrake.  Huh

This way works for me every time. It is the only way I have found to get the Autobrakes to work when I land.

Are you using rudder pedals with brakes included (CH or Saitek)? If yes, then maybe you are touching the brakes accidentally, which will turn the autobrakes off. I'll have to check if this can happen in-flight like it does on the the ground.

I use CH pedals, will calibrate them in FSUIPC again and will do a test flight. Maybe thats the reason.

Thanks, Chris
