Here's a few screenshots of my first repaint for the Buff.
23rd Sqaudron, The Bomber Barons.

I know it's not the most exciting repaint but it's simple so I can get my head around the paint kit.

I promise a more exciting scheme in the near future.

Nice!

Looking forward to their release.

Hey Dave,

Any luck? I just got the painkit last night...I know how to do the painting with PS and the DDS pligin but I can't figure out how to arrange the files, folders, etc so that the plane is visible when I go to choose the plane. Any ideas? I can't find a tutorial or instructions anywhere.  I have made paints for AS planes before but am having no luck here. Do I need to modify some config files or something?

i don't know how far you get so ill do this as if i was putting a repaint in.
hope im not telling you how to suck eggs
Any way first off when you convert you b-52 files to dds or bmp make sure the files that have L(R) at the end of them make sure you to change them for example B52_7L(R)_T should be changed to B52_7L_T and B52_7R_T
next after you have converted you files put them in a folder starting with texture.and what the B52 title will be EG texture.USAF bat out of hell

then open you main b52 aircraft folder and open a texture folder all ready there and copy the texture cfg out of this folder in to your repaint folder

then drop you repaint in to the main B-52 folder and then scroll down and open the aircraft cfg in note pad but make sure the always open with box dose not have a tick in the box

then u should see some thing like this example at the very top

[fltsim.0]   (you will need to change this number to the next one in line)
title=CS B-52 BUFF Exterior Paint0 (you will need to change this 0)
sim=b520
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=600050 Dragon's Inferno ( name of your repaint folder here)
kb_checklists=
kb_reference=
atc_id=600050 (edit this)
atc_airline=USAF
atc_flight_number=0050 (edit this)
atc_heavy=1
ui_manufacturer=Boeing
ui_type=B-52
ui_variation=USAF 600050 Dragon's Inferno (edit this)
ui_typerole=Strategic Bomber
ui_createdby=Captain Sim
description=B-52 BUFF Exterior Pack v1.0\n(c) 2010 Captain Sim www.captainsim.com\ repaint by nath 2889.( add your name here)

make a new one of the example above at the end of all the bombers you have also change the parts were i have commented in ()
and if you have 3 B-52

then the this line
[fltsim.X]

should look like this
[fltsim.4]

And this line
title=CS B-52 BUFF Exterior Paintx

should look like this
title=CS B-52 BUFF Exterior Paint4

thats it save the cfg then you should be able to find you B-52 it wont have a thumb pic until you make one for it
hope this helped

Great! Thanks so much Amigo..

I am actually doing the 757 and 727 but I assume the same is true for those as the B52? Just the naming is different I suppose.. It's more work than I thought but will be nice when it does work finally.

Thanks Again!

with the 757 and 727 you can do the same process as above if you want to
but you can use the ACE editor for both aircraft's to install repaints
its easier and quicker

for the ACE editor for 757 and 727 go to you main fsx folder then look for a folder called captain sim open it and in side you will see 757 and 727 folders open one up say the 727 for example

in that folder you will need to open the variants folder and drop your repaint texture folder in there then go back to the 727 folder and you will see another folder called ACE this is were the ACE editor exe for the 727 open it and run the exe (ACE_727)

When the ACE editor is running look at the two tabs on the left and hit the add new then when the page has changed hit select variation tab and select your repaint
then at the bottom hit add  variation thats it simples

but don't forget to add a texture cfg in you repaint folder your best bet is to take one out of the main 727 folder in fsx

Thanks Nath,

I played with it today before I read your post and had no luck. It didn't seem to make any entries in the aircraft.cfg file (ie, add the next variant).

I didn't add any other files tho so maybe thats my problem. But I also tried to just add some free liveries  with ACE and still nothing. Odd.. the path seems correct.. Main FSX root folder I thought?

Will play some more with it but I pulled out all my hair today playing with that thing and I even tried the way you mentioned before. I finally got the plane to show up in the menu but the textures were all out of whack. LOL! They were on the wrong places on the plane. I may have goofed something there... I had no problems with the AS F-16 repaint kit. Simple as pie but cant seem to get anywhere with the CS one. I am just dense I guess. haha

Thanks for all the help.. I hope I get it sorted soon. I would almost be happy to just add free liveries at this point but those don't seem to be in a format designed for manual addition.

Also, wonder why if I need to anything with the "Model.200RK" folder and file inside? I tried to copy/paste that into the Simobjects/CS757 folder but no joy. Also tried to copy/paste the file into the model folder with no luck. Geez... I wish there were a set of comprehensive instructions.. The Photoshop part I know how to do.. its the silly folder/file structure that's killing me.

i for got to mention when use ing the ace editor with the 727 make sure u put a notepad description file in the texture folder you want to install
eg
[texture]
sim=cs727200
ui_type=727-200
ui_variation=Braniff 300 , 2009 NP
description=727 Captain: 727-200 ADDON Pack v2.0\n(c) 2009 Captain Sim www.captainsim.com Braniff 300. \n Repaint by NATH2889.
atc_id=300
atc_airline=Braniff International
atc_flight_number=N300BN

make sure you save it as Description txt and place in the repaint folder
im not sure about the 757 as i don't have it but it should be the same  but maybe save the description file as livery

Thanks Nath,

I'll have a go at it and see what happens. I have to get it at some point. I never had this much problem with something that should be simple in theory.
