Fluttering/Twitching control surfaces

The ailerons, rudder, elevator twitch or flutter rapidly when I try to control them.   This makes the AC uncontrollable in flight.   This is a new problem that has gotten progressively worse.

Sitting on the runway with the engines at idle and the parking brake on.  When I use my CH pedals to move the rudder it deflects the correct direction and then flutters make and forth from that position to centered and back - many times a second.

The ailerons move the proper direction on the proper wing but then start fluttering and slowly return to neutral - even if the CH Yoke is still turned.   There is no way to maintain a constant aileron setting.

The elevator never does move to the proper deflection - when I move the yoke the elevator just starts twitching and continues to twitch for many seconds after I release the yoke.

NO OTHER AC has this problem.

While this is happening to ANY CS 727-100 or 200 I can switch to the CS 757 or CS C-130 and have no problem with control surfaces.  Likewise I can easily and properly control th MS 737 or 747, the Vistaliner 727 or any of the hundred other AC I have purchased or downloaded.

I flew the 727 for a week with no problem, then the problem would occur intermittently and now the AC is uncontrollable all the time.

The same problem occurs with a Saitek ST290 Pro joystick.

The same problem occurs when I use the NumPad to move the flight surfaces.  The problem even occurs when I start FSX with no Yoke or pedals and use only the NumPad.

This problem occurs when other addons are running or when they are not running.

What do I do?

I have searched this forum for flutter, twitch, "control surfaces", elevator, rudder and find no mention of the problem.

Am I the only one to have this problem?

Wow, never heard of that.

Are you a Navy sailor?  If so I recommend performing the universal military solution of uninstalling/reinstalling it Smiley

I am a Sailboat Sailor (www.svmirador.net) but do understand very well the universal reinstall.

The problem is becoming more difficult to deal with - I can't get off the runway with the elevator at Vr+10 but I can easily lift off using elevator trim.  But other times the AC works perfectly.

Just flew the 727-100 for a hour - got to the VOR where I have to make a 90 degree turn to get onto the ILS and suddenly no controls - manual flying - no elevator - no rudder.   Couldn't begin to make the turn or to change flight level.

Switched to a shareware 727-200 flew it thru the turn, captured the glideslope, switched back to th eCS 727-100 and flew to a nice landing with good controls.

And it is definitely on the CS 727.  I have no problems with the 757 or C-130.

I just bought the 727-100 and I have the same problem with fluttering control surfaces on all axes and steering. Changing yokes and reinstall has no effect. For the record I have experience with FSX and lot of other addons. Who knows a solution?

Hello, I'm having the same issues with the control surfaces, but only when the engines are off or shutdown. Everything works fine when I load the aircraft with engines running. If you move the yoke to the left or right it flutters as if you were violently shaking it. The rudder is also inoperable.

I'm running FSX with other add-ons, but I have re-installed at least five times without installing anything else and still encounter the same issue. I also run everything as an administrator. I'm running on Windows 7 64-bit, could that be a potential problem?

Hi.

Have you made sure that, on the Engineers Panel, the GEN switches are in the CLOSE position and also that the HYDRAULIC SYSTEM B switches are on (see image)? Either of these will cause a fluttering similar to what you are describing.

I just ran into this problem earlier today. First time having seen it so far. It happened after I switched off the autopilot on approach. I think it has something to do with switching off the left autopilot switch first, then the right one. I fixed the flutter by reengaging the autopilot, then turning off the right switch, then the left one, and the controls came back alive. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help Mark, turns out it was the hydraulics. I've begun using the manual start-up procedure and I don't have any problems now.

Try reinstalling the 727.

If you still have the problem, then you need to do an uninstall and I would recommend that you remove the entries in the windows registry (KB #685 explains how to do it).

If after that you are still having trouble, try downloading it again (assuming that it is the download version) by Checking-in to your Profile, select the product from the list, select Extended Download Service and click on the Get New Links button. Then reinstalling it.
