Lame Pilot Excuse No. 47 & LROPS

"Ladies and gentlemen, tonight's scheduled Aeroflot flight SU316 from New York Kennedy to Moscow Sheremetyevo has been cancelled because my dog ate my charts."

Really.  I ordered NAT plotting charts and was going to use the LROPS manual, and came home from lunch to find my dog had chewed through my new charts.  Bad dog!

I highly recommend that publication designed for flight simulation for anyone interested in doing realistic transatlantic crossings in the 767 (or 757).  Order some Jep plotting charts, too.  And keep them out of your dog's reach.

Now that is why I have a cat.  She just lays next to my chair and falls asleep.  But I agree, using NAT plotting charts is a must for transatlantic flights.  The only problem I have with buying the ones straight from Jeppesen is that they don't have an ETP table on the right and the conversion scales on the right and left sides.  Jeppesen only does this though for airlines or serious customers.  So unless you get lucky on ebay, don't expect the plotting chart you buy from jeppesen to be like the ones you see in all the videos.

Best Regards,
Robert

I am stilll practicing the unfolding part (Scotch tape does wonders for dog-damaged charts).  Big charts for li'l cockpit.

You got that right.  My little brother made sure that my enroute charts are not readable. (He used them for pretending to be a pilot.  There's pen all over 'em.) Grin
