Sound issues.

Just purchased the C130 Xperience for FSX, installed OK with one issue.

Whenever I start in the C130 I get a 'ticking' sound (which I assume is a sound looping in-correctly).

To get out of this I have to (Alt-A-Enter-Enter) to reload the aircraft, then I am able to start, etc. However I then get a decreasing engine sounds as I apply more power, until at full power they are completely silent - which is a shame as this is half the experience.

Don't have this issue with any other add-ons, including the CS 757. Have tried all the usual uninstalling, re-installing of the pack, latest sound and video drivers, etc - still the same.

Have logged this with support and received a reply that the article KB# 1918 refers to. So it appears this is a known issue which may be addressed.

Although I'm not after a date - can anyone confirm if another Service Pack is actually in the works please?

Cheers.

1. C-130 Xperience 1.3
2. Download
3. FSX Acceleration
4. SP2
5. Ticking sounds (sound loop?) on airplane load/start. Engine sounds decrease with increasing power.
6. Immediately after loading and in flight.
7. Sounds applicable to the actions being undertaken.
8. Win Vista x64 SP1, Nvidia 8800GTX 768MB, 8GB Ram, Q9650 @ 2.83GHz, Sound Blaster X-Fi.

I get the same issue on increasing power on take off roll and while in flight when you select different views etcetera. I found that if you click on any option from the menu bar and click Cancel then the sound comes back??

Obviously a glitch in FSX and/or this particular Aircraft.

James.

one thing i noticed is that the engines get louder and louder until full throttle then the deep bass rumble goes away and gets very quiet, also the GFC (GCF?) sound is much louder than the engines in the external view...

I have similar issues and I believe "sound" is on the CS to do list according to their KB.

A fix for a sound problem that I experienced with another vendor's multi-engine a/c has also improved the C-130X but not completely eliminated the issues.  You may want to try it.

On XP (the process should be similar for Vista), open the Sound control panel then click the Advanced button on the Volume panel.  When that opens adjust the slider for the "Wave" setting to 50% then close that window and click "Apply" on the Sound control panel (then close the control panel).  After doing this you will need to increase your volume control on your speakers and you may need to increase the FSX volume setting for the ATC voice but overall the engines sounds should be improved.

Thanks for the tip, but I tried this and it did not help.

However, I have a work-around thanks to some help on the AVSIM forums.

I've replaced the sound folder in the CS_130 folder with an add-on set, and it's now working well, although I still have to ALT-A-Enter-Enter after loading the aircraft, so that tells me there's still a problem with the aircrafts' initialisation - maybe this can be resolved in a future patch.

Anyway, if you want to give it a go;

1. Do a search in the AVSIM file library for 'c-130-sound.zip'.

2. As per the install instructions, backup the your original sound directory from the 'Microsoft Flight Simulator\Simobjects\Airplanes\CS_130'directory.

3. Replace with the new sound directory.

4. Find and backup the Captain_Sim.c130.sound.gau file, which can be found in the 'Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Gauges' directory. Then remove this file from the gauges directory.

That's it, you should now have a wonderful T56 sound set that doesn't fade with throttle increase, at least it works for me. I now have to turn down the speakers or I go deaf  - which is cool.

I think the main culprit for my hardware set-up is the Captain_Sim.c130.sound.gau file, and it's interaction with the X-Fi drivers under Vista x64 - again this can hopefully be addressed in a future patch.

Off to do some multi-engine short-take off's now...Grin
