Title: No cabin calls sounds/smoking seatbelt in cockpit
Post by zap51 on Jul 9th, 2020 at 3:59pm
When I start a flight, I get every sound except for the cabin call buttons (for for flight attendant and captain).  Also no sound for seatbelt/smoking.  I tried to reload the aircraft after I started a flight.  I also reinstalled to repair and still no luck!  Any suggestions?

PS using FSX Steam

I suspect that your AV is the reason for the problems: https://www.captainsim.org/forum/csf.pl?num=1489697628

I have the 767 installed in FSX-SE (on my laptop), and all the sounds, including the cabin call button sounds, and seat belt/no smoking sounds, work fine.

Note. On my laptop, I only have FSX-SE installed (not both FSX and FSX-SE), so the 767 Cadptain was installed to FSX-SE using the installer.

Markos,

Thanks from your prompt reply.  I went to the forum you suggested.
1. In the search, I typed "Virus and threat protection" and hit enter.  This brought up the Windows Security window.

2.   From there i went to "Manage settings".
3.  Then to "Add or remove exclusions".
4.  Then "Add an exclusion".  I added "File" Then went to C:\Program Files and added (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\FSX\Captain_Sim\767\ace\ACE_767.exe  and C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\FSX\Captain_Sim\767\cs.sound.dll.

After adding those two files, I restarted FSX Steam and loaded the 767 and still have the exact same problems.

Under C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\FSX\Captain_Sim\767\sound I have the wave files for the sound.  It's just no reacting when I'm pushing the cabin buttons and APU sound in the cockpit.

I have the entire FSX-SE folder (E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FSX) added to the exclusions list in my AV. I also have the folder where the installer is downloaded to added to the exclusions list in my AV.

When installing the 767, I disabled the AV (Avast Free) shields, I closed Outlook (email) so it wouldn't check for emails while the AV shields were off, and then activated (using Manual Offline Activation) and installed it. By doing this, and having the folder exclusions, Avast did not interfere with the installer, and everything installed fine.

I don't have Avast.  I am using Windows Defender.  So I will put my in exclusion using only the folder (not file).  I will the folder where I keep the 767 installer.  I will once again run the installer (Run as administrator) and go "Repair" and see how that works.  I will let you know yay or nay.  Once again thanks for the help!

Because I use Avast, I don't see a lot of the other options that Windows Defender has. I was letting you know that I use Avast, and I wasn't implying that you do, nor that you should. Sorry for any confusion.

No problem Markos.  I tried excluding the files and reinstall (repair) and made no difference.  Still no cabin sounds for Captain and FA or APU.  My next step uninstall Captain Sims completely and reinstall.

I did a full reinstall for both the 767 and 757 for FSX Steam and did Run as administrator and no luck.  No sound for cabin buttons and no sound for APU.  Not sure what to do at this point.
