I've been flying the CS B707 a lot lately and was wondering if anyone has tweaked the VC cockpit view. I've noticed on approach it's difficult to stay in view of the runway due to the aircraft's attitude. I've manually elevated the view during flight but was wondering if someone could tell me how to permanently change the view in the panel.cfg file.

I raised the eyepoint in the aircraft.cfg by 0.25 to gain a better view out of the cockpit:

[Views]
eyepoint=55.0, -1.6, 5.8  //55.0, -1.6, 5.55

After my last post I browsed through the forum and found the same post that Markoz has posted above. I have copied it below.

I would suggest you check you aircraft.cfg file and make sure the "eyepoint" is set correctly. Open aircraft.cfg with a basic text editor (I use notepad) and go to this section:

[Views]
eyepoint=55.0, -1.6, 5.8    //55.0, -1.6, 5.55

The colors represent: my setting and original setting.
Make sure yours are the same as in the red text.

I altered mine to show this change and have to report back that the 707 was so much better to land, lovely view over the coaming of the runway on approach.

If you feel that the 5.8 setting, in eyepoint=55.0, -1.6, 5.8, is not high enough, just change it up/down by .05 at a time (i.e 5.85, 5.90, 5.95 etc.) until it gets close to what you want, then make any changes in 0.01 increments (5.86, 5.87, 5.89 etc.). If you want even finer tuning, make changes using 0.005/0.001 (5.805/5.806) increments. The size changes go on from there.

This way you can have a different setting that suits yourself.

If you have opus you can set a camera for any position you like

TRACK IR5 couldn't really Fly without it, makes a Huge Difference too !!

once you set it up and properly adjust everything so its smooth.

However - 1 tiny little drawback is that it helps if you have no other light in the room, especially bright sunlight or a bright roomlight, as it interferes slightly with the Infra red that picks up the reflective strips on the baseball hat, which helps if its black or dark blue hat !!!

Also, if you wear Glasses like I do, sometimes the reflection from the computer screen reflects back off my glasses and Track IR will pick that up and get tad bit jittery at times,,, Ohhh well,,,,

So sometimes I actually Wear Prescription Sun Glasses in a DARK ROOM to Fly on my Simulator

My neighbors think I'm Blind, cause I wear Dark Sun Glasses in a Dark room
