FS2020 can't get off the ground due engine revs

first install of a Captain Sim Camel aircraft on FS2020 in Steam, on every launch the engine revs decline from 1100 to 484 after about 10m seconds and the throttle won't answer. Spent my money but no fun at the moment

more Info: the simulated throttle lever is showing the throttle decreasing even though the mapped physical lever is stationary. The mouse can activate the sim throttle when it is visible but that is not often. The sim throttle also decreases when the left-mouse is held but the mouse is stationary. It seems like the sim throttle is losing contact with the hardware inputs and decreasing to zero of it's own accord.

Hi GLKSADDD,

Strange, the engine revs will decline after start up to the idling state, that is normal.

However there is nothing inside the package internals that will cause it to default to 0, this sounds like a hardware conflict issue off first thought.

1. Do you have any external peripherals connected to your computer? Are they mapped properly in your sim settings?
2. If you have any peripherals disconnect all of them and restart your sim. Connected only keyboard+mouse. Does the issue still persist using default sim keybinds/controls?

"The mouse can activate the sim throttle when it is visible but that is not often."
The throttle assembly is missing sometimes from the cockpit?

engine revs decline to idle about every 0.5 seconds. never goes to zero. when I disconnect all peripherals (rudders,. stick, yoke, throttle quad) and the mouse has no configuration, keyboard is on keyboard profile, the problem persists.

I confirm the throttle assembly disappears when the problem occurs and the revs drop to idle.

If I can get off the ground by assiduous clicking with the mouse and driving through kilometres of trees, the problem goes away. the throttle stays where set without dropping to idle on both mouse and throttle quadrant.

Throttle issue does not occur on any other aircraft in FS2020

Hardware is very capable. 32Gb 12900 CPU, RTX 4060 3 monitors

Solved, the major symptom is cause by the AI setting, as per this video .. search YT for "MSFS | FLIGHT CONTROL PROBLEMS? | Pilot Assist Functions, where to find them and turn them off"

I turned off the AI and there is no issue with the throttle.

Now I don't have the throttle idle problem, just the aircraft is super pitchy and  under-ruddered, but maybe that is realistic.

Thanks to Ed at "forums.flightsimulator.com" who solved this in 2023. It  can recur after FS2020 resets  AI to on after some FS2020 updates.

"…That sounds like exactly how my problem with the Thrustmaster Throttle started. I was getting really eratic behavior with the throttle. As I opened the Warthog throttle physically, the screen showed the throttle moving all over the place and ditto the joystick.

I finally tracked my problem down to the assisted settings. I had applied a mandatory Asobo update and this set the assisted settings to ON. This conflicted with the Thrustmaster Wathog Throttle and Joystick.

The fix that worked for me was:

Within MSFS, navigate to OPTIONS / ASSISTANCE OPTIONS / PILOTING
Turn off ‘Assisted Takeoff’
Click ‘Apply and Save’ or F11 to save your new settings

Do make sure you check these settings as they were the cause of all my issues. Even if your settings ar unset, I would be inclined to set the assited settings on, apply and save the new settings, exit FS2020 normally, then go back in and reset the assisted settings to off, then apply and save again. Then exit FS2020 and reboot your PC and then start your PC and go back in to FS2020 and try a take off and see how things go.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed that all works out well for you.

All the best

Ed"

Hi again GLKSADDD,

Thanks for the detailed explanation of a fix. I knew this was a very strange issue that you described. Turned out to be the AI Assistance options getting in the way.

Glad you're able to fly her properly now.  Cool
