Hi all,
the 717 has made a lot of progress since I last flew it, but there are still some annoying issues.
- FMS - certainly a ridiculous point to start with since I know it uses the ASOBO FMS software, but I was hoping that I could at least have some success with the procedures. Maybe it was just a one-off thing, but for some reason, when trying to load the SWFFT3 RNAV arrival into KBNA, the procedure does not show up in the box. Other test flights I haven't noticed anything off like this, so far. The database was verified as up to date.
- When will airway entry be possible? This is one of the biggest annoyances about this box.
- Speeds for CL/CRZ/DES cannot be altered in the box.
- Landing data page speeds are set for what seems to be a very heavy Airbus, and frankly the plane doesn't need to fly the approach at those speeds - I use the perf data from Simbrief but it would be nice if those speeds were more or less in line with the TOLD report.
- VNAV works, but usually seeks out to cross each "at or above" fix at the minimum possible altitude, for example, if you have Fix A set to xxx/10000A, and you press PROF, it will go into VFLCH mode that hits the appropriate altitudes, and will descend at idle thrust at either the FMS MANAGED descent speed or the AFCS set speed. This results in a pretty steep descent profile if you are trying to keep your speed up. In addition, the FMS SPEED bug should match the box if there is a fix with an assigned speed, but instead it stays pegged at the managed descent speed that is programmed at the DES Page.
Lastly, following a quick turn, flight control checks were good. But during takeoff roll, I get a "speedbrake" aural alert. Speedbrakes were verified shut, including a check with the external camera. If it matters, my controls were neutral, so any spoilerons available couldn't possibly have been deflecting (can't recall if any of the DC-9s models have them). This is obviously a grounding item in the real world, but being a sim, I figured to try to takeoff and see if the alert would silence. It didn't, and then the airplane was overstressed beyond limits. I believe this must be a bug for sure.
Hoping for some updates on everything. Thank you!
