VR user suggestion

Hi Guys,

Love the Camel, great model & excellent texturing, in VR it looks totally amazing however there is one small thing that I would like to suggest... A VR friendly prop mod/texture set would be fantastic.  With SSW or motion reprojection the spinning prop causes warping or artifacts which break the immersion a little.
I'd do it myself using other prop mods however, the texture file naming system you use makes this difficult for me plus it'd be a bonus to VR users if it could be implemented in the overall product.

Hi Jason,
Glad to hear you're loving the Camel! Agreed, any WW1 planes in VR are awesome since everything is so open.

Can you share screenshots of said warping or things that look off in VR?
And more details about SSW and other prop mods so I can take a further look into it. Thanks.

I'm not sure how I'd get a screenshot or even video showing it as it only takes a screenshot of whats on the monitor, not what's coming in through the lenses.  What happens is when SSW or motion reprojection (same thing different name) is on it warps the flying wires & gunsight mostly but also shows up where the strobing propeller crosses or intersects with the 3D model & even the horizon in some cases.  SSW is a setting in virtual desktop & motion Reprojection is in both MSFS2020 & Open XR, they both do the same thing making the Visuals much smoother in VR by adding a guessed frame between the real frames m king the visuals smoother.  This can cause artifacts when the aircraft moves quickly i.e: in a turn/bank.  It is exceptionally noticeable with Propellers due to the way MSFS animates these.  A real propeller is just a blur in real life however MSFS animates these as you'd see them in Videos creating a stobe effect, very noticeable in VR & thus creates artifacts & warping with SSW or MR.   There are mods available for a heap of planes, mainly the default ones but some payware but it seems the developer has left the project.  I hope this helps, I will also see if I can capture it somehow.
Thanks!

I am getting a repainter to have a go, it may be as easy as darkening the alpha channel on the prop_blur texture/s.  I am testing it with another aircraft mod in development at the moment & this has worked quite well, just some further darkening & it will cure the problem...  I will see if that works on the Camel as well, being a wooden propeller may work differently color wise.  If it works, it may be worthwhile adding an optional texture fix for VR users?

I’m having the same issue as Jason Weston as far as the cables in the field of view of the propeller warping around. Turning SSW off in Virtual Desktop turned the warping off, but at a 50% drop in perceived framerate. I have a video capture and screen capture of the phenomenon, but can’t see a way to attach them here. I’m on a iPad now, but will try later on my PC. Basically the cables are bouncing around like they are loose. It’s pretty annoying.

Also it seems that I’m getting even more crashes than usual with this plane. Between the crashes and the cable warping I’m ready to give up on it. It does look nice though.

I've posted a mod for this on FS.2, which according to Jason solves the problem.
I can't post a link here unfortunately.

Thanks to jankees.  The propeller texture mod worked great as far as fixing the cable warping in VR with SSW.

My apologizes to the developer Captain Sim.  I mentioned in my last post that this plane is crashing (MSFS2020 CTDs) more than usual. Now MSFS2020 seems to be crashing with all planes for me.  I only noticed the issue originally with this plane. I love this plane, just wish MSFS2020 wouldn't CTD on every flight.
