I bought the (external) website Boeing 717, I installed it to my MSFS, I booted up MSFS, and it wasn't in the library, I tried over and over again, but it wouldn't work, I forgot about it until today, when I saw it on the MSFS store, I BOUGHT IT again, thinking it would work because it went to the exact folder etc. and it still won't work, I have now lost $70+ on nothing. I have searched all forums for an answer, their were none, please help me Sad
(I would hope to get a refund on one of the aircraft)

I found it does this to me too. For me, it installs outside the Comunity folder, when I select to install it in MSFS2020.
This might be the case for you too. If it is, if you look in the main MSFS2029 folder, you will see the folders named Community, and Official, and you might also see the 717's folder (I'm not home at the moment (overseas untill 16 July 2024), so I can't give you the exact name of the folder). Click and hold the 717's folder (with the Left Mouse Button), then drag it over the top of the Custom folder and release it. This will move it to the Custom folder, and after that, you should see the 717 in the Hanger.

Doing this, all your shortcuts for the 717 won't work, so you either need to show the shortcuts the correct location by editing them, or you can reinstall the 717 into the correct folder (see below).

If you want to uninstall it, then reinstall it in the correct folder, make sure that you select the *MSFS2020\Custom folder so it installs in the folder.

* I have MSFS2020 installed D:\Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator, but due to lack of HDD space, I haven't got any CS aircraft installed on my laptop.

I hope this helps.

Hi Mark, thanks for your help!

If you bought 717 in Captain Sim (CS) store and in marketplace (MP), then in Flight Simulator you will see the airplane that is installed in marketplace.

CS Store products must be installed in Community folder.
For 717 it should looks like fs2020\Community\fsx360-aircraft-m717\
where fs2020 - your MSFS root folder.
CS installer will do it for you automatically.

As for MP purchase MSFS will do it for you automatically, it's out of our control.
You can do the following for the 717 MP version:
- go to \fs2020\Official\OneStore folder
- find fsx360-aircraft-m717 folder and delete it
- run MSFS
- go to Content Manager and re-download 717

Have you tried typing 717 in the search bar (as shown in your screenshot)?

If you don't have enough space on your computer, you can install the products (at least Captain Sim) on an external disk, even on a USB drive!

1) First of all, run the 717's setup and install it to the Community folder.
In my case it's C:\fs2020\Community

2) Insert USB, create new folder, e.g. MyHangar:
So, the full path is E:\MyHangar

3) Move the folder fsx360-aircraft-m717 from C:\fs2020\Community to E:\MyHangar

4) Run cmd as admin:
- press Win+R, type cmd, Enter
- right click on CMD icon, run as admin

5) Go to Community folder in CMD Admin terminal, in my case it's:
Code
Select All
cd C:\fs2020\Community

and press Enter

6) Type the following string

Code
Select All
MKLINK /D fsx360-aircraft-m717 E:\MyHangar\fsx360-aircraft-m717

where E:\MyHangar is path to your USB or External HDD drive.
and press Enter.

The result should be like on this picture:

7) Run MSFS and enjoy!

This is very helpful, but it won't work, I'm struggling as I have a massive amount of steps to access MSFS folder. For me to get to my community folder, I have to enter, "C:\Users\megan\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\L
ocalCache\Packages\Community", it is not registering it.

I have a 2TB External SSD, but somehow, it seems tha I lost control of it in Windows 10, after doing a few things in Windows 11. In the end, I couldn't install anything using the laptop on the SSD either.

I plan to buy a new External SSD after I get home soon (there arevery few decent computer stores out here in the province we are staying in in Philippines). Also, due to the fact that my wife and I are fixing/finishing some rooms in our house here, we have had almost no time to do anything elsebut that anyway.

I'm looking forward to getting home to no mosquitoes, ants (that love to bit me), too many backouts (our generator is broken and needs replacing), and the constant heat (32oC during the day, and 27oC at night). Blackouts can happen at any time, and often happen in the middle of the day, or middle of the night (so then our aircon goes of during the night (we don't use it during the day)).
