717 Auto Trim

Hi, my 717 trims automatically even though I deactivated it in the settings. How can I trim them manually only? The trimm it always to 100%.

Undecided

Thanks for the good question, this has been fixed and will be available in the next update.
In any case, the STAB TRIM will always work when autopilot is enabled.

If this is critical for you right now, you can do the following:
- open the systems.cfg file
- find auto_throttle_hold_vs=1
- add the following lines after this line:
pitch_use_trim = 0
pitch_use_elevator_only = 1

Please see #1 in the picture.

Also, two yellow switches LONG TRIM (#3) can be disabled by STABILIZER TRIM OFF button (#2).

I think I've got the same problem in version 1.1.15 (MS Store in-app purchase within FS2020). I've checked that AI auto-trim is off, and autopilot is disengaged. It really seems like something is fighting or opposing the pitch trim: the aircraft initially reacts as it should, but then reverts. Sometimes it's impossible to make it climb or descend using trim alone (with normal airspeed).

I recall seeing a similar comment about the 777. Could it be common code?

I'd check out the systems.cfg tweak, but I can't find any such file in a 717 folder (I'm a newbie at FS2020). Any tips about where to find it would be appreciated!

Final suspicion: the trim seems to work in the opposite sense to that of other FS2020 aircraft, based on observation of elevator movement.

Thanks heaps for the reply. I'm loving your 717 otherwise!

Is it possible that systems.cfg was not included in the distribution?

Or could it have been encrypted, as is done for some other aircraft?

I've just been advised that products purchased through the marketplace have systems.cfg encrypted, so I'm not able to use the solution recommended here.

If it makes any difference, I'm using a joystick to control elevator pitch (which, I assume, is common). The 717 seems to 'remember' the climb/descent rate resulting from elevator input, and trim only perturbs it slightly and temporarily. It almost seems like an autopilot mode to lock climb rate is active, but I don't think it is. I even studied the documentation to check.

I just got an update to 2.0.0. The trim now seems to be working independently to the elevator; thanks!!  Smiley

That said, it seems to be working in the opposite sense to that of other aircraft, at least when controlled from an axis. Maybe whack a minus sign in there somewhere at the next update. In the meantime, the issue can be worked around using an alternative controller profile.

Please let us know - what do you mean exactly under "the opposite sense"?

When I move the pitch trim wheel control on my Thrustmaster TWCS throttle in a certain direction, all other aircraft pitch nose-down, whereas the 717 pitches nose-up.

If I create a FS2020 control profile for the 717 with the pitch trim wheel control reversed (ie, 'REVERSE AXIS' set opposite to that of the normal profile), then the 717 pitch trim behaves like that of all other aircraft (so long as I don't use the 717-specific profile for them).

Thanks for your answer! We don't do anything that specifically reverses the axes. The problem discussed here.
Looks like not just the 717 involved.

Thanks for the response. You're probably right! What a weird bug.
