OK I'll be the first.

I don't need a virtual cockpit! I have my own cockpit. I need functional systems though.

What I'm most worried about is "Stock MSFS2020 sounds".

Which stock aircraft can possibly resemble the C-130?  Shocked

I figured this was pretty obvious. Probably KingAir 350i. "It's a turboprop ain't it?"  Wink

C-130H: Four Allison T56-A-15 turboprops; 4,591prop shaft horsepower

King Air 350 has two Pratt & Whitney PT6A-60A reverse flow, free turbine engines, each rated at 1,050shp

You're right. Must sound exactly the same.

I'll be surprised, but the stock FS2020 turboprop set sounds good and heavy enough at the C-130 RPMs.

Unfortunately that's the situation. I have sympathy for them on the sound front, it's actually quite a task to get accurate and exciting sound sets for an aircraft or else relatively expensive to buy one from a company specialising in such things. They could do worse than using the K350 sound set even if it's inaccurate.

This was moved as off topic but actually it's head on:

Default systems, king air sound, no cockpit - what's left?

I think what many simmers like me can't understand is that we crave for quality add ons and are willing to pay good money for it.

There's only two obvious options, and I do wish they'd give an actual response and give me any excuse to believe otherwise:

1) They simply haven't got anyone capable of developing anything more than a 3D model (Granted, their models are nice, they look good and that requires someone putting in effort having some skill...) and some kicking around of default Asobo code/configs (Something that anyone with half a will and a modicum of technical ability can do. I worked out how to do what they're doing in about a day of experimenting and googling).

-- Or --

2) They simply don't see a point to putting in more effort, they're making enough off the back of releasing pretty models with no substance and they view it as something the market will stand (though they seem to want to suggest that it's what the market truly desires)... combine this with a lack any innate pride compelling them to deliver something deeper and you have cutthroat capitalism basically.

Then there's other options... e.g. They're in financial difficulties and need to rush for income with no time to develop deeper products.

I'd love to give them the excuse and some sympathy but since they stubbornly deny a lack of development resources and refuse to give any reasoning for what they're doing beyond vague references to a "market shift" what are we supposed to conclude? The popular theory seems to be thus option 2.

You can still use your FSX sound packs - works well and sounds like a Hercules . . . . don't know why Captainsim did not include that in the first place.

How did you get it to work? I am trying to use the TSS Herc sounds from FSX but no joy.

Hi - you should replace your sound folder with your fsx sound folder.  (I suggest you first make a back-up of your C-130)
1. Delete the sound and soundai folders from the new C-130 (inside folder CS_C-130E)
2. Now drop your fsx sound folder into folder CS_C-130E - make sure it is called "sound", and not sound.1 or sound.herc or anything else, otherwise it will not work.
I use many converted FSX aircraft and all their sound files work in FS2020.
You are welcome to send me a mail at armithea@gmail.com if you can't get it right . . .
I can also upload my sound folder to WETRANSFER if you like.

Also bear in mind that FS2020 does not "see" a new sound file or texture file immediately after it was added, so you may think that it is not working. I use "msfslegacyimporter" to rescan the aircraft folder after anything was changed / added, only then do I run FS2020.  I guess another workaround is to remove the C-130 from Community folder, run FS2020 and exit, put the C-130 folder back in Community folder, run FS2020 and all changes should reflect, including the newly added sound file.   (Always have a working title aircraft in the hanger when you shut down FS2020 - iow don't have the c-130 in the hanger, then shut down FS2020 and remove c-130 from the community folder . . . .  FS2020 may not boot up)

Thank you!! I rescanned the folder with legacyimporter and restarted the sim. Now it works and sounds great. That takes a couple points off the crappy scale on this product haha.

This made me really curious. I went ahead and bought the model 😃

I have the tss sound files for fsx  and I did as suggested use the fslegacy tool. I hear the sound alright but it doesn't change with the throttle or propeller.

Do I need a sound.cfg file?

Hi,  I don't have the TSS sound pack, but Yes, all sound packs should have a sound.cfg file.   Maybe Flying_J can confirm what his sound pack sounds like.   Having said that, I'm testing two sound packs at the moment, the one has a more constant sound throughout, whereas the second one has an "idle" sound, then it revv's up with the throttle, and it also has "reverse thrust" sound . . . I think this is what you are referring to ?
