757 Will Not Load

Howdy, I have just become the owner of your 757 PW for FSX:SE

However, it will not load and just hangs the sim and the only way to resolve this is to force close the sim.

I have followed every instruction for the firewall and other installation tips in the official post, and all advice I could find relating to this issue in forum posts by users having the same issues, but still no go.

I use AVG, and I deactivated all firewalls there and on Windows 10 that I could find, even ones that didn't seem relevant. Added all the Sim and download folders to an exclusion, deleted the Appdata files and anything related to the 757 and did many clean and fix installs but still nothing.

The log file for the latest install is attached, but I cannot find anything of use in it.

I am getting kind of worried that I may not be able to use this product. Is there anything I have missed?

Thank you

I did not unfortunately Sad

No one on the staff seem to be replying (granted, it is the holidays.. sort of).
I'm really hoping that we can fix this, its for FSX:SE and I bought it expecting such, but no joy so far...

Can you open it again and have the windows event viewer running and tell us which module is causing the fault?

An example.. Look for errors towards the top of the log immediately after the CTD and it'll tell you what cause the crash.

@Corsair016. When you go to the selection of aircraft, does the 757 show (as in you see the aircraft, and it rotates in the 3D view)? See attached image.

If that doesn't happen, then it means that either the .mdl is missing, or one or more of the panel files is missing, or possibly even the textures are missing.

This can happen for two reasons.
1. The aircraft.cfg is not pointing to the correct location of them.
2. They are simply not where the aircraft.cfg is pointing to them.
3. Possibly one, or more, of these files has been removed (seen as a threat) by your Anti Virus program.

The .mdl files should be in the G:\STEAM\steamapps\common\FSX\Captain_Sim\757-III\models folder. Your install log points to them being installed there, but you need to make sure that they are there.

The panel files should be in your G:\STEAM\steamapps\common\FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B757-200-III_PW2037\panel.

Having the AV off when installing is fine, and allows you to install it without any problems. BUT... Once you restart the AV, it is free to scan files, and remove the files it considers a threat (it should notify you that it has done so, but it's easy to miss the notification).

One of the ways of preventing my AV from removing the files it finds as a threat (false positive) for Captain Sim products (both during, and after installation), is that I added the folder where the installer is located (csx572_1700.exe), and E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\fsx folder to my AV exclusions list.

Basically. My Captain Sim installer location folders, and FSX, FSX-SE, P3Dv3, P3Dv4, and P3Dv5 installation folders have been added to the exclusions list (same applies to my laptop for FSX-SE, and P3Dv4), and it doesn't remove so called threats from my Captain Sim installations. If you feel that this will leave your computer too vulnerable to viruses, then I understand that you won't want to do that, so you can opt for the adding of the G:\STEAM\steamapps\common\FSX\Captain_Sim, G:\STEAM\steamapps\common\FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B757-200-III_PW2037, G:\STEAM\steamapps\common\FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B757-200-III_PW2037_4D, G:\STEAM\steamapps\common\FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B757-200-III_PW2040, and G:\STEAM\steamapps\common\FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B757-200-III_PW2040_4D folders only to your AV exclusions list.

The last section is only necessary IF your AV has removed any files after the installation was completed.

Hi guys.

Event viewer just shows FSX as the faulting application with nothing attached to it (as far as I can see), so nothing there.

Thanks for the reply Markoz. The aircraft is able to be manipulated in the small pop-up in aircraft selection, but when the aircraft is actually selected the aircraft viewing window goes black and the sim locks up.

Looked in the model folder and all four files are there, and it seems the panel folder is intact (although I don't know what and what isn't supposed to be in there anyway).
I am unsure if any other files are missing, I would need a list to compare them against if I was to do that.

Exceptions have been added to all folders relating to the sim, captainsim and all installers etc. Tried again a few times today and still the same problem.
Every security protocol I could find was turned off and stayed off for the install and the attempts to load the aircraft. Very strange.

I have attached the log files for the most recent one just in case something changed, but it doesn't seem like it.

See attached image for the list of gauges for the 757 Captain III (don't worry about many of the gauge file icons as I have WinRAR set as the default app for .cab files).

You're seeing the Escape Slides, and the External Power Unit, which are a part of the model (.mdl), but have "conditions" that determine when they are visible.

All 43 panel files are present and accounted for.

Regarding the model viewer, the issue I was seeing was the failing texture loading.

The texture files seem to work for the small details window in the aircraft selection box, but that is all that seems to be working at the moment.

Is there anything else I could try? I don't want this to be the end of the road for my 757 adventures, it really does look like a fantastic aircraft and it would be a downright shame if it sat there in the hangar unable to be flown Sad

Without a crash report, as mentioned by Alex T (reply #3 & #5), it's difficult to determine why it's happening. I can only suggest you do a complete re-install to see if you can fix the problem.

Done as directed, still will not load but something new has come up in the download logs, it shows one error and a firewall warning.

A mystery to me as I turned off all AVG settings I could find (even if not relevant) and all Defender settings (even if not relevant) and added exceptions to every folder and .exe used by or around the installer and aircraft.

Yet it still detects a firewall, I cannot find any more security settings anywhere so I have no clue what might be setting it off.....

I downloaded the file and looked through it. It doesn't appear to be any different to mine. Even I have the same warnings and error.

These are yours:

30:01:2022 22:25:54 | Warning : 1:0 : csFormEmailOnline.nsh[22.9]
30:01:2022 22:25:54 | Warning : Error 1 Incorrect function.

30:01:2022 22:26:02 | Error detect Firewall on this connection!

These are mine:

31:08:2021 13:38:16 | Warning : 1:0 : csFormEmailOnline.nsh[22.9]
31:08:2021 13:38:16 | Warning : Error 1 Incorrect function.

31:08:2021 13:38:50 | Error detect Firewall on this connection!

Yet it works fine in FSX/SE/P3D3

Huh, strange.

It looks like we've hit a dead end, and short of reinstalling my entire simulator (Almost an impossible task, trust me) I do not see a solution.

Thank you everybody for your help

I just had an idea. Is there any place to download previous versions such as 1.6 or 1.5? They may work for some reason.

Even if it is a lower version, anything is better than nothing at all..
