CS B777-200 Plus Mods: What is to be expected?

Print Post
Hi,

This is to be my first CS forum post in an age.

Along with other potential customers, I am interested in buying the CS B777-200 for MSFS; I understand what the content of the base package is (or isn’t).

I’m not interested in generating more debate, as I’d rather understand what changes after it has been modded; I’ve watched several videos and read countless posts, yet I still haven’t a clue.

Mods I’m interested in include the Bryer CS777 in conjunction with the Salty B748 mod and it’s compatibility patch?

In addition, a new 160Mb mod is available in the form of “Flight Model Fix CS777 + Revised Cockpit Textures”, so I wanted to know what advantages this might bring?

Information including the functionality and reliability of LNAV and VNAV, the presence of TOC/TOD, and whether the ND altitude prediction marker is still present?

With thanks,
Fabio

The "Revised Cockpit Textures" is just a colorgrade of the original textures. You get an image quality loss because of the double DDS compression plus the questionable colorgrade. Hopefully the DDS format and size is right, otherwise you'll get a performance hit as a bonus.

OK, thank you, it’s thumbs down for that texture pack.

Anyone else with some advice / intel on the other mods?

I am not using this texture pack and never will because i am just happy with the original CS.
But i am using the Salty mod and the cs777 to Salty compatible mod and the Bryer CS 777 flight model mod and i am real lucky with that.
Works OK for me just to let you know..
I did some small corrections my own in the Bryer flight model file because i found the climb rate to strong for my feeling but all around this 3 mods are working OK together.

cheers  Wink

Thank you, I appreciate knowing that those mods work well together.

Additionally, could you please give an idea about what functionality is present and working…

1. LNAV?
2. VNAV?
3. TOC marker?
4. TOD marker?
5. Altitude prediction marker (arc along ND route showing point at which the aircraft will arrive at dialled in altitude using FLC/VS mode?

I’m sure that for many potential CS B777-200 customers who, like me, aren’t sure whether to take the plunge, any insight into system depth will be very useful indeed.

This is easy for you to test before buying.  Go fly the default MSFS 747-8...that is what this aircraft is by default.  There is no system depth that is of CS's coding....the is their 777 model using the default 747-8 code, simple as that.  Wink  So if your list of items works on that plane, it will work on this one.
I suggest you read around in other forums to see how customers are using mods to make the plane more like a 777.

Excellent idea.
No, wait, I already use the modded B748…
What was I thinking?!

Well...if you are using the "Salty" mod on your 747-8, the CS 777 will not work with it.
However, there has ben a Mod to THAT Mod, for THIS mod...meaning if you want to keep the Salty Mod and fly the 777, you should get the other Mod, which I believe is at flightsim.to.
Hope that made sense.  Wink

Yes, thank you. Somehow your patchy patch notes made sense. Smiley

I’ve patched the patch with the patch patch, and whilst I didn’t dare try anything foolhardy like committing aviation in it, I completed one brief BAT circuit to watch some confused elements come alive.

Anyway, it seemed like a bargain to be semi back in a VC that I have previously been oh-so very familiar with.

Perhaps we might identify with this aeroplane by recognising that it is the first of a kind, a unique hybrid trans model.

I don’t know how I feel about it, but OK, we have ticked that box, leaving Captain Sim to get serious about their sensibly priced MSFS lineup.

So, answering my own question…
No, half hearted sim platforms plus half hearted aircraft implementations lead to half hearted user experiences.
It’s not good enough, not yet anyway.

small corrections

Can you tell me what have you changed? I also find that the climb is too strong, if you like, please tell me that I do the modification too.
Thanks for your help.
