How to create a proper free livery?

This manual is for those who are interested in the 777 free liveries creation.

For liveries REQUESTS please proceed to this topic.

CREATION

BEFORE YOU START: CAPTAIN SIM SOFTWARE MOD POLICY

1. Get a Repaint Kit. That is true 4K kit for MSFS2020.
Do not use outdated 2K kit from FSX.
Do not use outdated 4K kit from P3D.
Do not use the DDS files from P3D/FSX.

2. We recommend creating your livery in
...\Community\captainsim-aircraft-m772\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B777-200ER_GE90B\
folder adding new [FLTSIM.XX] sections to OUR aircraft.cfg

3. cs777_FusStab_03_D.png MUST have an alpha channel. Note that Photoshop does not saves alpha in png. So use a plugin like SuperPNG.

All other maps must have NO alpha. Which saves users' bandwidth and PC resources.

4. Make sure your thumbnail_small.jpg is 600x216 pix.

5. Do not add to your livery folder any texture files that you have not painted. In 9 out of 10 cases, painters include regular wing maps which are NOT required if there's no custom paintjob on them.

6. All maps must be 4096x4096 (except the stewardess). DO NOT MAKE FAKE 8K with a couple useless decals. Respect users' bandwidth and PC resources.

PACKING
If you have created your livery in the right place, ACE will pack it with 1 click on the PACK button.

If you have created a new livery in the Community root folder:
1. Rename your aircraft.cfg to description.txt and move it to your TEXTURE.xxxxx folder.
2. Run ACE (Start>Captain Sim>777 ACE [MSFS 2020]) and drag-n-drop the description.txt file on the ACE interface.
3. Edit any text fields if required.
4. Click the PACK button.

DISTRIBUTION
1. Upload the zip CREATED BY ACE to any hosting.
2. Submit your livery to ACE.
3. If you wish to be credited in the livery description please let us know your crediting preferences (yes/no and your name or brand name).

If there are mistakes in the livery we'll contact you.

If you do not submit your livery to ACE, we will upload all the free liveries to ACE ourselves.

As soon as the livery appears in ACE, the 777 users will see it and could install with one click.

Thank you for your support!

Feel free to share painting tips and tricks in this thread.

Do you not mean cs777_FusStab_03_D.png.dds ??? I don't see any .png textures anywhere.

The workflow for FS2020 textures:

psd > png > fspackagetool.exe > dds

So we are talking psd > png part only. The rest is standard FS2020 SDK business.

OK - great - thanks. I use either the Intel Texture Works DDS Exporter or the nVidia Texture Tools Exporter - both are free PS plugins and allow you to save with alpha and allow you to save directly from within PS (without the PNG/FSpackagetool step).

Thanks, useful tip for a painter who usually makes textures only.

lost transparency of pax windows

Gives blank black windows = no interior details, lighting etc.
