I'd say it could be a contributing factor...something for the developer to check into and update us on.
However, as far as updates go, we seem to have to draw our own conclusions on the future of this and all P3D development since CS doesn't seem to be forthcoming with that information.

I'd venture on the side of the worst case and assume that this is the final major version, no more (if any) significant updates. 

Just remember, they didn't "Promise" you anything, you got what you got when you bought this product, "as is", and any speculations made by CS about future versions were just that...speculation, no matter how much it appeared to be "confirmed"  . 

This IS CS's mantra, learn it, live it, move along.
