Window Heat Switch Button Problem
Feb 25th, 2021 at 7:51pm
Print Post
Shalom and greetings all my pals,

I finished successful installation of Captain Sims 707 and 707C into FSX Deluxe with SP1 and SP2 set in Windows 10 Pro.  Everything seems to be working during ground testing except what is said on the subject heading

I noticed lighted overheat warning on cockpit windows so I clicked the window heat switch button in order to turn off heat but the switch button went from high through off to low. So I tried to click again in order to make the switch go to off position to turn off heat.

Unfortunately the switch refused to from low heat position to off position.

What can I do to fix this problem or shall I ignore window overheat warning?

Regards,

Aharon

I cannot find edit button to edit my original post to correct my grammar and typo error so here is correction for one of sentences below:

Unfortunately the switch refused to go from low heat position to off position.

Thanks,

Aharon

Try using the Right Mouse button to turn them off.

Note. I almost always have them on HIGH without any problems.

Are you saying that I should ignore overheat window warning light and the cockpit panel will not erupt into smoke or fire during flight?  Do not want it to happen to my 707 flight like what it happened to Swissair MD-11.

I've never had the window heat warning happen when I have the heaters on, whether they are set to High or Low.

I just started it up now, and I got no window heat warning, and it moved and stopped on High, Off, and Low. It also stopped in the Off position when I moved it through Low, Off, and High, so it works fine for me. I'm not sure why it won't stop in the Off position for you though.

Maybe you never used 707 in Caribbean where there is hot weather??   When I did ground test the 707 for first time, I browsed around the cockpit and saw the lighten warning in yellow color so I zoomed in and discovered it was warning for overheated cockpit window so I tried to turn the heat off without luck as described in the original post.

When I originally got the 707 Captain, I flew it everywhere! Hot and cold places, and I don't remember ever seeing the warning. In hotter climates, I tend to use the window heaters in Low, whereas in colder regions, I place them in High. And I always turned them on while on the ground, before engine start, not once I reached the higher altitudes where the temperatures go well into the sub-zero temperatures. Undecided

Thanks for letting me know about your interesting procedure regarding window heat that I am not aware of before.

Meanwhile when I have chance, I will do another ground testing or making first flight, I will let you know if your switch change trick works OR will post screenshot proof if the warning light goes off while on airport ground.

Aharon

I'm not doubting that you are having a problem. I don't know why you are having the problem, or the window heat warnings, as I don't have that happen for me in  FSX (I'll have to check to see if it happens in FSX-SE on my laptop because it installed directly into FSX-SE as if it was the FSX).

Edit. No problems in FSX-SE either. I can select OFF, and I don't get any window heater warnings.

Markoz,

Thank you for your kindness in sparing time from your busy schedule to re-test Captain Sim 707 cockpit panel.

I am going to do ground testing again of the plane this week and see if it happens again OR it is just one time glitch.

Meanwhile at this moment, I have been busy downloading and installing many repaints for that plane before I make first maiden flight abroad that plane.  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Smiling

Markoz,

I have good and bad news for you   Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

The good news is that your trick using right click on mouse is working and I can switch the switch to off position.

The bad news is that even though the switch is on off position,  the overheat window warning light still remains on.

Oh well

I have to figure out my new problem which is how to get engine one start.  All other three engines started without problem but engine one refused to start. Oh well  Am I supposed to change the knobs on fuel lines for all four engines??

Thanks,

Aharon

Hmm. I just used CTRL+E to start the engines on the 707, and it started all 4 engines without a problem.

The engines are quite easy to start on the 707 really.

Animations Control Panel
External Power ON
External Air ON

Flight Engineer Panel
Battery Switch - ON
Engine Bleed Air Switches - ON
External Power Switch  - ON

Overhead Panel
Ground Start Selector Switch - Low Press
Engine Start Control Switches - GRD (Engine Start Levers need to be in the START position for the engines to start, so the CTRL+SHIFT+F4 shortcut will put them all in the START position).

Okay I will try this.  Thanks for another great tip. So I do not touch the fuel line knobs for CS 707??  In CS C-130, I had to use fuel line knobs before I started propeller engines of C-130. Wondering if CS 707 has same requirement?

Aharon

If you want to, you can open the 6 Manifold Valve Switches, that way all fuel tanks provide fuel to all engines.
