L1011 engine 1 stops few minutes after take off.

In Fsx,
Take off from Lebl to Lirn then after a few minutes engine 1 stops and after another few minutes with AP engaged the plane goes out off control stalling diving.

why does the engine stops, happens ever time on this flight why the stalling and diving?
How can i restart the engine ?

Hi. I would look at the fuel panel at the Flight Engineer's station first. Is this when you do your own start? Does it happen loading the default L1011 Cleared for Takeoff file? Here's how that's set up:



It will work in other configurations, too, as long as you're getting fuel to your engines. I seem to remember having to learn this the hard way when I first started with the L1011.

As for the autopilot, you have to get used to the different pitch modes and what they're for and realize you are ALWAYS controlling your throttles except when on autoland (or, using the autothrottle switch, which I reserve for cruise, and recommend avoiding it until then to get used to the airplane and learning the different pitch modes, but that's just my opinion).

If you get set up climbing at 250 kts at a certain throttle setting, then hit the IAS button, the autopilot will do its best to maintain that climb, but only by pitch. Vertical speed will try to maintain whatever you dialed in, but you must have the throttles pushed forward enough to maintain it.

If you're relying on the automation for knowledgeable flying, it serves well. But if you expect it to fly the TriStar for you, it will kill you, especially during climbout. It doesn't have any built-in protections and will happily stall you and kill you if you've messed something up.

The reason I'm going into this detail is because the autopilot works much differently than we're used to from other airplanes. In fact, I spent a few days doing nothing but taking off and experimenting with the pitch modes so I learned what each one does and which is better for what I want at a particular time.

And don't worry about joining the "I Stalled the TriStar" club. I stalled plenty of times, and once you start, you are never going to pull out no matter what you do. It is a very unforgiving airplane. Another good learning method is just to take off and fly around without any automation at all in violation of all aviation rules and regulations. I call that "fly it like you stole it."

P.S. You're posting in the L1011 Captain II section, but you're flying in FSX? What version of the L1011 are you using?

Actually L1011 should not kill u and stall should be recovered  smoothly, please take a look at given movie ( 14:00 minutes ) where stall with different configuration is performed.

The darker pictures are just after engine fall out.

Hate to sound like Carl from Slingblade, but "Needs gas." As you've no doubt noticed, you have one tank on empty, and if you look at your fuel used indicators to the immediate right, you can see that only your Engine 1 is getting/using fuel and it looks like from only one tank.

Do me a favor and please open your crossbleed valves--those three dark buttons in the middle of your fuel display. Get those lit up and try again, and let me know if that helps and we'll take it from there.

Solved, fuel was indeed the problem.
slip of the finger when i was fueling the aircraft making this flightplan.

Note
Crossfeeds open is not needed whith the right amount of fuel in the tanks??

Flying now my flightplan.

Actually, I messed that part up. Engine 1 hasn't used any fuel (that's why the zeros). So, it looks to me like you've got two engines drinking from one tank only. Once that fuel is gone, that's why your engines stop turning.

Why that's happening, I can't tell. Maybe someone smarter than me can spot something in the pictures. I'd still try the ready for takeoff scenario and see what happens, and try it with crossbleeds closed and lit up just for the heck of it. But it doesn't look like engine one is getting fuel and only Tank 1 is supplying any to the other two. It looks like you've got everything configured properly so I dunno. Sorry. I'm sure there's a solution, though.

That's my understanding. Technically, you'd only use crossbleed if you got a fuel imbalance. I'm glad you solved your problem. Now, why your L1011 could not fly with two engines, I can't say. I'm going to try that out and see what happens.

Using fuel tank names for L-1011 for FSX/SE:
Left Tank feeds Left Engine (Engine #1)
Right Tank feeds Right Engine (Engine #3)
External Tank 1, and External Tank 2 feed Centre Engine (Engine #2)

Using fuel tank names for L-1011 for P3D4/5:
Tank #1 feeds Left Engine (Engine #1)
Tank #3 feeds Right Engine (Engine #3)
Tank 2L, and Tank 2R feed Centre Engine (Engine #2)

Because of this, I have equal amounts of fuel in all of the fuel tanks.
By that, I mean that Left Tank (Tank #1), and Right Tank (Tank #3) would have, lets say, 20000lbs, and External Tank 1, and External Tank 2 (Tank 2L & Tank 2R) would have 10000lbs (a combined total of 20000lbs).
The P3D4/5 tank names are placed in brackets.

Under the  above circumstances, I don't need to have the Crossfeed Valves Switches for a flight.

Note. If I'm going to do a flight in the Captain Sim L-1011, I prefer to fly the 1011 Captain for FSX/SE in FSX/SE (32bit) rather than the 1011 Captain II for P3D4/5. Cheesy Grin
